I’ve really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. I was pulled into the book from the beginning and kept engrossed throughout. This well-written book is full of action and intrigue and is a definite thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.
There’s a lot going on in this story… dare I say, almost too many different threads. I do enjoy the main characters, September and Shadow, and I especially like when the story is told from Shadow’s perspective.
Amy Shojai has done a great job both with writing and narrating this series. Her love of animals definitely shows through and she offers great insight into their behaviors.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Show and Tell (September Day, #3), my third read from author Amy Shojai. A well-written story from a very good author. “I received a free Author’s Direct audio copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading the next book in this enjoyable series. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
This is the third book in a series about September Day. She and her dog, Shadow are trying to settle into a normal life when she must face once again some of her past life challenges. Kids and dogs are missing and end up in a barn where a pit bull fighting ring is located. A doctor who is peddling illegal pills has hidden a stash in the barn and he is coming after them. But an unexpected tornado strikes causing a lot of problems and danger. There is some profanity.
If you are dog/pet owner you will love the animal insights in this book. Loved the story line.
PG-13
Distressing circumstances
Little or no strong language. No F-bombs.
Heart-stopping action. This is the kind of story where I feel compelled to keep reading because it becomes my personal responsibility to save the innocent and stop the machinations of the guilty.
RECOMMENDED!
Love loved loved this bolls and others by this author true animal lovers books
I SO WISH I could give this series 5 stars, but I can not. First because the first book gives you all these things to think about but NEVER EVER open it up for discussion. Fact is just thrown at the wall and if it sticks okay but no explanation to follow. So disappointed because this book does the same as the other 2 books. I WAS REALLY HOPING FOR MORE OF A TIE UP TO THE SUBJECTS OPENED, but no luck. Second because you never get satisfaction on some point…her son…her parents…her brother – the token gay seems all authors are now throwing that into the mix – nothing more really on any of them. NOTHING tying up any of the characters that were affected in book 2 other than a basic 2 sentence in the book regarding Teddy and his wife?? UNACCEPTABLE to bring in a character in 2 books that you relate to and like and feel for and then in book 3 nothing. And last, what started out as a good premise and NOT NECESSARILY A LOVE STORY, spend the seemed to rushed ending into a love book…very disappointing.
I felt this book was rushed….choppy story line and AGAIN…THIS WOMAN IS INVOLVED IN SOME WAY WITH MORE DEATHS THAN THE LOCAL CORONER…KIND OF OVER THE TOP.
OKAY SOME SPOILERS SO DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU DO NOT WANT SPOILERS….
First having Combs basically berating her and damning her over his kids??? I could see him blaming himself, Rick the prick or his ex-wife? But a woman he just barely started dating and has known for like 4 months?? TOO OVER THE TOP FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT…DID NOT NEED IT.
Not enough information given on the drug that the doctor developed or explanations into any of that, like how he turned from autistic to being able to talk and function and become so brilliant….too many loose ends. LIKE GOOD THOUGHTS AND IDEAS AND STORY THROWN OUT THERE, but then never ever expanded on. I felt the ball was totally missed over and over.
Like buying this book was going to put all the puzzle pieces together and instead had more pieces. THE FIRST WAS BY FAR THE BEST WRITTEN…but lost stream rapidly in book too and little steam left in book 3.
BUT THAT SAID…I cried – several times in this book and parts were very touching.
For once a book with kids that were so nice to read about…I HATE SPOILED BRATTY KIDS in real life so I detest picking up a book and the kid/teen dialogue makes me want to smack them. These kids were great.
SO IN SUMMARY:
I love September and a female character you can really like…
I love Shadow and Macy…added characters that you really just wrap around.
I love the way she had the vet come around…that had a realistic feel to it…grieving, angry, but inside knowing.
DO NOT LIKE:
Something not quite likable about the Combs character – not sure why but he just seems too quick to judge.
HATE THE FACT that we do not know anymore on her sister…why it would take all her money to fix AND DEFINITELY THAT THE MAN THEY TRUSTED THEIR CHILD TO WAS A MONSTER AND SHE SAYS NOTHING and so they are judgmental and preachy and ACCUSATORY to her and I hated that. WHAT SHE WENT THROUGH WAS ENOUGH…TO GO THROUGH IT WITHOUT YOUR MOTHER OR SISTER TOO MUCH AND THEN TO HAVE A SISTER SO CRUEL AND SELFISH AND USING….TOO OVER THE TOP.
All that said, I would probably buy the next book to see what happens, but am hoping it is more than the description implies because it implies it is not a full book with September and the other characters from the book, but more like a way to introduce a new character and is just the week of the missing dog…I could be wrong.
I have read all three of Amy Shojai back to back, and could not put any of them down until I got them all read..Lost so much sleep reading these..Waiting patiently for the next book in the series to come out..Awesome reading..
