It’s a destination wedding, Fate, Texas style, and the thermostat isn’t the only thing about to hit its boiling point.
Lulu Nichols has lost the love of her life.
Her best friend, Derek, proposed to someone else. He’s marrying someone else. And oblivious to her feelings, he’s asked her to play best man at his wedding. She can’t say no, not without admitting her secret and ruining everything, so she pastes on a smile and heads to Mexico to watch the man of her dreams get his happily ever after, even if it isn’t with her.
Connor Shaw is finally ready to claim the love of his life.
He wants Lulu. He’s always wanted her. Even though she’s slightly crazy and seriously delusional about her relationship with Derek. Connor is the one that brings out her fire and matches it with his own. He’s the one that drives her just as crazy as she drives him and it’s way past time for her to admit that all their fighting is really just foreplay.
Together they’re like gasoline and a match; a powder keg destined to blow, but oh how satisfying an explosion it will be.
But is their spark the kind that burns fast and then out? Is the heat going to Lulu’s head or is there more to Connor than she’s ever realized? Could they possibly be meant for forever or are they destined to always be a should’ve been?

AWESOME!
Cute, Hot and Intense is the perfect way to describe this well written read that kept me intrigued from the first page to the amazing end that more than I could have hoped for. GRIPPING drama that pulls at your heartstrings getting you emotionally invested flying through the bits of twists and turns that excite keeping you on edge and enjoying the ride. A very enjoyable read that I would definitely recommend.
Two cases of unrequited love.
Lulu Nichols has been in love, love with Derek Harper for twenty years. Now, he’s marrying someone else and she’s got five days of being his best girl.
Five days of hell.
Connor is deputy Connor Shaw. He’s been on the fringes of Lulu’s life and he’s always had a thing for her. He’s warm and caring. He really sees her and knows she deserves better than Derek.
She deserves him.
Will Lulu wake up and see how awesome Connor is, or will she cling steadfast to a dream that has long soured?
Despite fighting and bickering, Connor really is the best man.

Words cannot truly express how much I loved this story about unrequited love. And it’s not just one sided. My heart melted so many times while reading this. The main characters, Lulu and Connor will work their way into your very heart and soul. These two have known each other for a long time and they don’t always see eye to eye. When their best friend Derek tells them he is getting married, it hurts Lulu and Connor thinks this may be the best thing to show Lulu that Derek is not for her.
While this is a destination wedding, it lasts for a week until the wedding and I loved all the antics that happen leading up to the big day. For some reason, both Lulu and Connor start to see each other differently. Can Connor show Lulu that he is the one she should be with? These two will make you laugh and make you cry and just make you feel all kinds of emotions. Lulu is a breath of fresh air and Connor is so much more than initially perceived. I really enjoyed this story and can’t recommend it highly enough!
Lulu thought she knew who she wanted and was in love with even though he never shared the same feelings as her so when Derek is due to get married it’s time for her to face reality and boy is it a wild ride. You really feel the emotional roller coaster of emotions that Lulu goes through as well as the struggle that Conner goes through. I loved how there are plenty of laughs, cringe worthy moments along with heartfelt and sad times and most of all the story of two people who are in similar situations but on opposite ends.

Wow what a story that is beautiful written and has you laughing to crying to on the edge of your seat throughout this story that will take your breath away. This story will have your heart melts.
An intriguing romance that grabs your attention on the first page and holds until the wonderful ending. Drama, twists and turns, romance, and emotions leap off the pages and captivate the reader. The characters are easy to relate to, realistic and easy to fall in love with. The chemistry and attraction between the characters is undeniable and defined so well within the story. This is one of those stories you wish didn’t have to end.

I didn’t read the blurb before grabbing this because I automatically grab a Jess Bryant book and then find out what the book is about. I thought this was going one place and it ended up going the other way and I was pleasantly surprised. I fell in love with Connor and that relationship with Lulu was explosive. I mean, I could feel their sparks from a mile away. This is fun and sexy with some emotional moments thrown in, but most of the time I was smiling while reading.
Lulu’s best friend is getting married, and its not to her. She has know idea how she’s going to get through this week. Connor has every intention on being there for her every step away, hoping that by the end of the week she will see him. This is a sweet but VERY steamy story! Sierra is my favorite character! She has no filter at all!! The back and forth between Lulu and Connor was so fun to read! Great story with great characters.
I have not read a bad book from this author yet and this book is no exception! The great plot and character development kept me so engaged throughout the entire book that I had a very hard time putting this book down until the very last page was turned!

Lulu’s best friend and the man she loves is marrying someone else, to top it off he asked her to be his best man. Connor is ready to go after what he wants and that’s Lulu. He always has wanted her. He just has to make her see that she want him too. I really enjoyed this book.
Sometimes taking the rose colored glasses off lets you see more than what is clearly in front of you. Derek asked Lulu to be best man at his wedding. Lulu has secretly loved Derek since she was 9. Connor has loved Lulu since forever and sees his chance to make his move. Lulu blindly thinks she loves Derek and obliviously thinks Connor is the man who torments her for some reason. Both men show Lulu by action and deeds exactly who they are to her. She finally notices! The journey of discovery is absolutely wonderful and fulfilling. You can go through the gamut of emotions with Connor and Lulu. You have to be patient with Lulu, but she gets it. Great story! Fantastic Fate, TX stories. Nicely done Ms Bryant. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
The story of Lulu and Connor is a good story in that there is not a lot of drama and difficulties, but rather more emotions and not beeing a fraid of once feelings and not beeing worried about seeing the truth.

Lulu has been in love with Dereck since they were kids but he never felt the same way. Connor has been in love with Lulu just as long but was invisible to her. On a week long trip to Mexico for Derecks wedding Connor finally get his chance to prove to Lulu they are meant for each other. This book was the perfect blend of sweet and steamy. Not alot of drama or angst just a nice light romance.

Oh, my gosh, what a delightful contemporary romance! I loved that this book had two popular romance tropes: unrequited love as well as enemies-to-lovers, and the man in question was different in both. The heroine was so relatable. Her pity parties and moments of self-reflection are so believable for a woman who is watching the man she has loved for a long time marry another woman. She is fragile and vulnerable but also at the perfect place in her life to learn more about herself so she can move on. Connor, the hero, has loved her for a long time even though he has kept up the charade that they are enemies. But his actions speak so loudly of his true feelings as he is protective of her even in her moments when she self-sabotages. He’s a great hero. Of course, they are not really enemies; there has definitely been some mild antagonism between them. Not I think that the opposite of love isn’t hate but rather indifference, and these two are far from indifferent to each other even at the beginning. In fact, I would say their chemistry sizzles off the page from the first time we see the two of them together, even if the heroine doesn’t want to admit it. Between these delightful characters and the blending of two romantic tropes, the author has delivered all the feels on the emotional level as well. If you like contemporary romance, this is a hard book to beat.
Wow, this book pulled me in from the beginning, Lulu has had her heart broken over and over by her best friend, Derek who she has “loved” since small. But now he’s getting married… to someone else. Lulu is Best Woman along with another friend of Derek’s, Connor. These two have rubbed each other the wrong way for years, but little did Lulu know, was that she held Connor’s heart in her hands. Now finally Connor can work some magic and win the heart of the woman he loves.
This book is wonderfully well-written, I really liked the characters especially Connor. I honestly didn’t think Derek was a good friend to either Connor or Lulu. But I loved the way that everyone had their HEA, I can’t wait for another book from Fate, Texas.

I really enjoyed this book. I did want to strangle Lulu for being so blind and stubborn. I did want to junk punch Derek for not speaking up sooner. I thought that was just plain mean but everything worked out in the end.
Let me just say this book broke heart and slowly put it back together. It gripped me from the very first paragraph (that broke my heart) and didn’t let me go. I love this book so much! It was sweet, soft, heart warming and proves broken hearts can be mended. Can’t wait to read more from this author she did fantastic!

Should’ve Been Us is such an amazing book! I absolutely LOVED Connor and how he much he loved LuLu and wasn’t afraid to fight for her, even if his biggest fight was with LuLu. Their chemistry was sizzling and I could not get enough. This is definitely a book I highly recommend.
