What could be more cliche …Than the hot rockstar and the nanny? When I answered the ad looking for a nanny willing to travelI was desperate for a job.And this would be the perfect escape from the end of the world as I knew it.I thought my boss would be an overworked businessmanNot the broody guitarist for the alt-rock band on everyone’s lipsHe’s everything I shouldn’t want—The epitome of sex, … everything I shouldn’t want—
The epitome of sex, drugs, and rock ’n’ roll.
Tatted up,
Foul mouthed,
And a single dad.
He’s also impossible to resist.
The way he takes care of his two-year-old son,
The way he takes care of me …
But when I give in to this rock god,
Will my world come crashing down all over again?
Or does he have the ability to put it all back together?

This was an emotional rollercoaster, I mean it wasn’t dark or anything but from the first chapter I felt so bad for Ava. She has had some serious issues occur and you can’t help but to feel sorry for her. Danny is such an amazing dad, protective over those he loves, and such a sweetheart under his frowny face. Little Eli was the absolute cutest and will steal your heart (I loved that the author threw Blippi in there, lord that show annoys me but my kids do love it lol). It’s a slow burn relationship but trust me it’s hot and steamy when they finally get together. They definitely have some drama that occurs but I don’t want to reveal too much so I’ll just say read it, it’s so good. Also that epilogue holy crap I can’t wait for Aaron’s story.
Wow! The length some girls will go through for money and or fame. Danny had his life turned upside down by a groupie but he was able to put his life back on track with the help and understanding of his parents and his band family. Having Ava in his live was the best thing for him and his adorable son Eli. Now they are a beautiful family. Lovely story.
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
I thought that Jerica had reeled me in and hooked my heart with the first story in the Cataclysm series but as soon as I met Danny and Ava and experienced their chemistry together in “Shouldn’t Want You”, I knew that I was a complete and total goner! They had me wrapped up in their palpable sexual tension and wondering when they were going to succumb to their attraction for one another.
All I knew about Danny from the first book “Anything You Need” was that he was the moodiest out of this band of sexy rockers but I wanted to dig deeper and learn more about this hot, single dad. Now after getting to know him, it wasn’t just Ava’s panties he had in a twist. He kept me hot and bothered with his mission to keep Ava at arm’s length. The more I got to see deep into his psyche, I fell harder for this rocker that puts his all into those he loves, starting with his adorable little boy.
I was immediately swept away in Ava’s inner turmoil over her past and I couldn’t wait to see Danny show her what real love and passion is all about. She kept me wanting to dive beneath the layers of her persona to get to know the young woman who was just waiting to blossom in self confidence and sexuality. I enjoyed every moment with this nanny who has finally found her “band” of people that will show her unconditional love.
Jerica MacMillan delivers another scorching tale of love with one of the hottest fictional bands around. I highly recommend “Shouldn’t Want You” for a slow burn that is sure to warm your heart and heat your body. I absolutely adore Jerica’s books and am always clamoring for another one soon after I finish the last page of her newest story. I cannot wait to see what the sexy Cataclysm boys have in store for us in the future. With Jerica wielding the pen, it is sure to be steamy and heart melting.
Danny and Ava were wonderful together. Both are trying to find a new normal in life but end up finding so much more. When you throw in little Eli, you end up with a perfect family. I loved how Eli was as much of the story as Danny, Ava, and the rest off the band. I’ve read single parent stories in the past where the child was only mentioned a few times and never felt like a part of the story.
Love a rock star story? A single dad story? A nanny / employer story? This well written story hits all the buttons. Danny and Ava are sure to leave you smiling.
This was a good read! The writing flowed well, and I thought the characters were fully developed. I loved Danny! He was a great dad, and I thought he was a good partner to Ava. I liked Ava okay. She was great with Eli, but I felt like she kept too many secrets from Danny. Everything works out in the end, but most of that could have been avoided with a conversation. I really liked the secondary characters. Eli was a cutie who made the story between Danny and Ava possible. The band was great! I absolutely can’t wait to find out what happens in Aaron’s story!
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
Shouldn’t Want You by Jerica MacMillan was a great Book with some really fun and exciting characters. Ava is in need of a job and decided to answer an ad for a nanny position, when she comes face to face with her new boss he was not what she expected. Danny is a guitarist for a famous rock band and he is a single father looking for a nanny to be on tour with him and his adorable two year old. These two have an instant attraction and she is taken by the adorable little guy. This is book two in the Cataclysm series and I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend this great book, hope you will enjoy as much as I did. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Ava is at her wit’s end with her current situation. She has lost her college scholarship due to an affair with her college professor, getting pregnant by him and then having a miscarriage. She tries everything she can to get a job so she doesn’t have to go back home to Iowa.
Danny is a lead guitarist for Cataclysm and has a two year old son. He needs a nanny because he is going to take Eli on tour with him.
Ava finds the ad for the nanny position and takes a chance not knowing it is for a famous rock star. She interviews with Danny’s mother and then meets Danny and Eli. She falls in love with Eli instantly.
Will Danny and Ava be able to get past the boss-employee relationship, secrets and take it to the next level?
I voluntarily received an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second book I’ve read by this author and loved, loved, loved it…!
Danny and Ava’s story was amazing! I could not put this book down and I loved there story. The bad boy rocker and the conservative good Christian girl, get there happily ever after.
I didn’t think this book was going to be so juicy, but it is everything. Beginning to end, I was hooked and couldn’t stop reading.
Job well done Jerica. I can’t wait to read Aaron’s story.
Falling for the nanny
Ava loses her scholarship and needs a job quickly. She sees an advfor a nanny that has to be willing to travel. Danny is a single dad to his son Eli and he’s in the bad Cataclysm. The band is getting ready to go on tour and he wants to take his son with him so he places an ad for a nanny. Ava applied and she didn’t know who Danny is but Eli liked her so she gets the job. As the three are traveling they getbto know each other but Ava keeps her past a secret and Danny doesn’t want to get in a relationship after his past. But their feelings get stronger and closer. Will this work out as tomthem being a family? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I am so IN LOVE with this series! This book! It was so beautiful, sweet, sexy. I can’t say enough about Jerica’s new series and her writing. I was so involve with the story and these characters that I stopped reading to go on YouTube to look for the band’s video then realized it’s a book. A fantastic one!!! Shouldn’t Want You can be read as a standalone, but don’t miss out on this band and each one’s road to love. Ava and Danny both had reasons for being cautious with their hearts, but each had big hearts. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn’t get enough of their story. Their chemistry, love, thoughtfulness, protectiveness, gave me all the feels and I didn’t want it to end. Then I read the epilogue and now I’m counting the days for the next book!

I’m completely in love with this series. I love Ava and Danny together. They were just the cutest couple. Now I’m waiting on pins and needles for Aaron’s story.
I’m on a romance binge holiday weekend, and I’m a bit weird as I love rockstar (and sports star) romances as much as Regency Period tales and have been going back and forward between the genres. Luckily for me Jerica MacMillan is out with a great rockstar romance, Shouldn’t Want You (Cataclysm Book 2). Yes, there are lots of tales of the wealthy (fill in the blank) and the nanny – but the reason for this is that they are wonderful stories when done well. This one is done far more than merely “well”. Ava and Danny start off do seemingly opposite that it’s incredible to see how they end up so perfectly together (and Eli is a total cutesy). This is a pure good feel romance that presses all the right yummy buttons. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises – the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. Now, since I read this book out of order (though it definitely works well as a stand-alone) I’m simply going to have to read the first book in the series, Anything You Need.
Amazing! I was so addicted to Ava and Danny’s love story that I could not put this book down! I read all night last night and am a bit tired today but it is So. Worth. It!! Thank you, Jerica, for writing another winner!!
Shouldn’t Want You is book two in the Cataclysm series. It can be read as a standalone. I have book one, Anything You Need, on my TBR but decided to read this one first. Cataclysm alt-rock band. Danny is a guitarist for Cataclysm. He’s a sexy single dad. The band is going on tour and he want to bring his son, Eli, with him so he needs a nanny. Ava is in a rough patch. She’s lost her school scholarship and is looking for a job. Ava doesn’t know who Danny is when she meets him. She hits it off with Eli and gets the job. There is a connection between Ava and Danny. Because of their pasts, they both try to fight off the connection they have. Their relationship slowly blossoms. Ava kept secret what happened in her past and I was waiting for that to come out. This has a good story line that and it had me hooked. I’m going to go back and read Anything You Need now.
I’m absolutely in love with Shouldn’t Want You. It was impossible to put down! The characters are so incredible and little Eli is so cute. The slow burning romance between Danny and Ava is perfect and believable. Jerica MacMillan did a wonderful job – again.
Ava’s life has been flipped upside down in the worst possible way and she is desperate to find a job. When she comes across an add for a live-in nanny who must be willing to travel it seems too good to be true with her back ground in early childhood development. Danny is the lead guitarist for Cataclysm and the band is about to head out on their next tour. But he doesn’t want to leave his two year old son behind. He doesn’t want either of them to miss out on their time together. So he needs to hire a nanny. When Ava shows up at his door she seems too good to be true. She doesn’t fan girl all over him and she immediately bonds with his son. Both of them feel the draw to the other but have their own motivating factors to avoid the other. But once they go on tour they can no longer deny their feelings.
I enjoyed Ava and Danny. They were sweet and endearing and all kinds of hot. And Eli was super cute. Loved that little dude. I loved that we got more of the band life/tour life in this one. Ava’s story was heartbreaking, I just wanted to give her a momma bear hug but I loved how strong she was after it. I felt that after all she went through she was so much stronger. Danny was a giant cinnamon roll and I love him for that. He had a rough hand, was a bit grumpy on the outside but he was such a sweet heart. I loved him.
4.7 stars
Every book this author gets better and better. There is just something about her stylistic writing choices that has me continually turning the pages. I fall in love with the characters every time and they become real (shh, don’t tell my therapist that I said that, or I will need MORE therapy sessions!). It is a compliment though because, each of these characters embeds themselves into my soul. I want to hug them (Ava) or clone my own personal Rockstar and make more Eli’s (seriously this kid!).
This book has you believing that everything that happens puts you on the path to being where you need to be at the exact moment that you need to be there. There is always a silver lining to every situation. This is a slow burning relationship but that just adds to the story and when it finally happens it is so very worth it.
Kudos to this author for another stellar book.
