Lighthearted Historical Romance From a Rising Star
No one steps on Archer land. Not if they value their life. But when Meredith Hayes overhears a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off their ranch, a twelve-year-old debt compels her to take the risk.
Fourteen years of constant vigilance hardens a man. Yet when Travis Archer confronts a female trespasser with the same vivid blue eyes as the … blue eyes as the courageous young girl he once aided, he can’t bring himself to send her away. And when an act of sacrifice leaves her injured and her reputation in shreds, gratitude and guilt send him riding to her rescue once again.
Four brothers. Four straws. One bride. Despite the fact that Travis is no longer the gallant youth Meredith once dreamed about, she determines to stand by his side against the enemy that threatens them both. But will love ever be hers? Or will Travis always see her merely as a short-straw bride?

Enjoyed it very much. Sweet story and good characters. Very engaging.
I hadn’t read much from Whitemeyer lately, but this book was very good and I will look for her books again!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! Great afternoon read!
One of my favorites.

This book introduces the Archer brothers, and it’s quite the introduction! Travis and Meredith are so sweet together, but neither one is a pushover either. I read this book years ago, but I’ve re-read it several times because the characters have stuck with me.
A perfect 4 hour “bookcation”. The plot was believable and not too predictable for a romance. The spirituality was smoothing apart of the characters’ lives. (Ms. Witemeyer wrote with special skill that did not come across as “preachy”.)

Enjoyed reading this book.
Awesome book. Great read from beginning to end. Loved it!!
Karen Witemeyer is always a joy to read! So the premise of the book is that the Archer brothers promised their dying father not to leave their land, and boy did they take that promise seriously! The one exception was when Meredith accidentally got her leg caught in a coyote trap, and Travis Archer carries her home. A decade later, Meredith gets …
Loved it and have read it twice.
I absolutely loved this book! The characters were endearing and Karen Wittmeyer’s descriptions made them jump off the page. The plot was full of warm, tender moments as well as tense, emotional ones. Very entertaining – too much so because I couldn’t go to sleep until I finished it.
I love to read books by this author! Always full of humor and wit.
I enjoyed the story and the historical aspects of the book
The heroine isn’t physically perfect.
Sweet story.
It was a fun read
Nice romance.
Karen Witemeyer has become one of my favorite authors. Her characters are endearing, with strong convictions. Her well-developed storylines have a wonderful blend of romance, action, and suspense. Once I start one of her books, it’s very difficult to put it down until I’ve finished it!
One of my all time favorites. Wonderfully romantic and beautifully written. An introduction into a family that you won’t forget, and a love story to tickle your funny bone and warm your heart.
