Lighthearted Historical Romance From a Rising Star
No one steps on Archer land. Not if they value their life. But when Meredith Hayes overhears a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off their ranch, a twelve-year-old debt compels her to take the risk.
Fourteen years of constant vigilance hardens a man. Yet when Travis Archer confronts a female trespasser with the same vivid blue eyes as the … blue eyes as the courageous young girl he once aided, he can’t bring himself to send her away. And when an act of sacrifice leaves her injured and her reputation in shreds, gratitude and guilt send him riding to her rescue once again.
Four brothers. Four straws. One bride. Despite the fact that Travis is no longer the gallant youth Meredith once dreamed about, she determines to stand by his side against the enemy that threatens them both. But will love ever be hers? Or will Travis always see her merely as a short-straw bride?

This is the first book in the Historic Christian Romance series by Karen Witemeyer The Archer Brothers. This is one of those writers that sucks you in from the first word. The story begins when Meri at age 10 is being bullied by a group of brothers. Full of courage and backbone, Meri ends up on Archer brother property when the bully boys throw …
I enjoyed the characters and was looking for a light read
you will love this book!!
That was the ultimate love story . Every character was a favorite (except Cassie’s mom) and the story itself was funny, intense and engaging. I can’t wait to see the remaining Archer brothers get their happy ever afters . Good job on this one Ms. Witemeyer.
One of my very favorites!!
The tension for the young lady that thought none of the brothers really wanted her, was well expressed. Most of us have had a time that we felt unwanted.
Karen Witemeyer does not fail to deliver the humorous, faith-filled romance I always anticipate. I loved the characters, the setting, the marriage of convenience, the humor, the prologue that was necessary to read, the HEA, and the spiritual growth!
The only thing I didn’t like was what I would consider a bit steamier romance than usual after …
It was so wonderful!!! Karen Witemeyer is a fantastic author. I love and totally recommend her to readers looking for clean, sweet and inspirational fiction. Totally worth five stars and more.

I so enjoy Karen’s writing. Her characters are complex, realistic and relatable.
I enjoyed this book so much. It is a favorite.
A very touching, romantic story. I enjoyed reading the relationships develop. In my opinion the ending came too fast. I wanted more. But that’s because it was awesome.
A sweet mix of adventure and romance. It’s not your typical boy meets girl. You’ll be waiting to see who rescues who. Add a little sassiness and you’re in for a treat.
I love this book so much!
This book has a bit of humor, a lot of action, and interesting character. I found it hard to put the book down.
A fun, satisfying, clever, adventurous read!
My favorite of the beloved Archer Brothers series.
I read this one years ago and really enjoyed it. Witemeyer is a go-to for charming historical romance.
