Love Dirk Pitt novels and this one did not disappoint. This time Dirk was against some really bad people who were killing animal wild life and people with shock waves. They didn’t care who they killed as long as their empire continued to grow.
It started in the 1800’s where a few people landed and survived after facing death through a typhoon, a mutiny on a raft that they built so they could survive a sinking ship. While living there they discovered a diamond mine and started a massive empire which turned evil and greedy.
The only good one was Maeve but it wasn’t meant to be because of her father and two sisters. They took what was good and turned it evil or killed it. But despite of it all, the ending was good and amazing. Like I said it will not disappoint with all of the action taking place throughout the book. Hard one to put down.
I’m always so excited to get my hands on a new Clive Cussler book and I promise myself that I will read it slowly and carefully. But by the time I get a few pages in I’m hooked and read as fast as I can. It’s such a huge disappointment when I get to the last page! And this book totally follows the pattern! I cared about the characters and was completely invested in the storyline. An excellent read!! Just don’t think you’re going to be able to read a page or two before you go to sleep at night … next thing you know it will be 2 AM and your alarm will be going off before you know it!!
Clive Cussler’s hero Dirk Pitt is a true man. The adventures and action in this book make it a page-turner which will be hard to put down once you start reading.
Sappy and lacking the cleverness of earlier works. Mr Cussler seems to have lost some of his passion. Dialogue ridiculous at times. Yuck. Probably the last Cussler I buy.
So predictible. If you read 5 of his books, you don’t need to read any more. This one follows the same story line with “historical facts” and disaster averted.
The opening chapter is a classic sea tale of a convict transportation ship’s fight for survival against an overpowering storm. The few who survive are castaway on a deserted island, loaded with diamonds. Cut to the present, and something is killing every living thing within, what appears to be, random areas on the sea. Dirk Pitt to the rescue in a non-stop, action packed, edge-of-the-seat adventure. Oh, I forgot to mention the sea monster.
too predictable
All you have to say is Cussler’s name and I’ll read it. Good read.
This is the first Clive Cussler book I have read. I loved it immediately. There are loads of things happening. Cussler knows his stuff!
Intense. Gets u thinking about future
All his books are great.
A nail-biter with nasty villains and scientific sleuths. I enjoyed it more than most of his books. Also, there are many locations across the world. The characters were made so real you really feel you know.
Read it! It’s great!
Loved it
I am currently in the middle of this book. As has been with every book that Dirk Pitt is the featured character, I am enjoying this one very much.
Read several of Cussler’s books and you’ve read them all – too much format and predictable
Thoroughly enjoyable. Pitt always saves the day. His character was more reckless in this book then in the other Dirk Pitt adventures but a great read.
Dirk Pitt takes the reader on another action packed journey. If you like adventure, mystery and a handsome protagonist, you’ll love Dirk Pitt. This time, Dirk and his best friend, Al Giordino are up against a villain who’s desire to control the diamond market could result in catastrophe for milions. If you’re a fan of fun novels where the good guy always wins and the bad guys get their butts kicked, grab a Dirk Pittnovel. They’re all fun.
I have yet to read a lousy Dirk Pitt novel… this is no exception. Action never stops, I have the unfortunate tendency to read these well into the night and this was no exception.
Always love a good Dirk Pitt novel.
