Taima, a.k.a. Tai, is the last person people come to for help. He’s the fuck up…the bad boy…the guy that only looks out for himself.
Which couldn’t be further from the truth.
He’s fought hard to become the man he is today. He’s a hero in the public’s eye. A firefighter that the young all the way to the old turn to for help at the lowest point in their lives.
What people don’t know, though, is … people don’t know, though, is that he’s no hero. He’s the reason his sister is dead, and he’ll spend the rest of his life trying to right that wrong.
Then one split second decision has him coming face to face with Mia Darling. The woman changes his life, making him reevaluate everything he thought he had figured out, and showing him the tenderness he never knew he needed.
Just like always, though, his luck runs out.
When the smoke settles, Mia’s gone, and Tai realizes there’s no way he can live the rest of his life without her. He’ll show her just how hard a bad boy will fight to get his woman back, and he’s not opposed to fighting dirty.

Tai is back and i finally get his story, and i have been wanting more of him ever since he was introduced in Last Day of My Life. i have wanted him to find his own HEA. Mia’s introduction was one that had your heart breaking for her. she is having to go through a parents worst nightmare. and its during this nightmare that she meets Tai. through their meeting the is a bond formed. its this bond that they have the had me pulling for them to have their HEA together.
things happen and there is a period of separation, but this is something that in turn brings them together even stronger.
another great start for a new series. and i loved seeing the character of the Freebirds and Swatt again.
Tai who thinks he is nothing but the bad brother and messes everything up but he is the answer to Mia’s prayer. This story had my heart strings all the way through. It was a story that kept me on the edge of my seat and emotionally involved. I highly recommend this story and series, it’s going to be a hot one.
This one will make you cry a lot but it’s okay in the end everything has a way of working itself out.
The first book in this new series starts off really sad. You can’t help but feel for Mia. Tai is there every step of the way to help her threw this when she asks him to donate. After her loss she pushes everyone away and not realizing until later what is she is missing out on. Hoping that she still has a chance she apologizes to Tai.
Some crazy things happen with these two and another tragedy does strike. But to find out all those juicy details you need to go read this book and series.
A heartbreakingly beautiful journey to go on with Tai and Mia. I loved how honest, caring, patient and considerate Tai is towards Mia. This was a book that I will remember for a LONG time. Phenomenal story!
Taima, a.k.a. Tai, is the last person people come to for help. He’s the fuck up… the bad boy… the guy that only looks out for himself. Which couldn’t be further from the truth. I did like this book the characters were really sweet and compatible and the basis of the story line was good, I just found that at times it became disjointed and flipped from one thing to another and there were a lot of references to cliche situations. But over all it was a very emotional read.
Just finished reading this for the second time and once again Lani Lynn Vale does not disappoint. Everybody loves a hot firefighter from Kilgore. The book was full of emotion, hot and sexy alpha and a beautiful love story, not to mention some very hilarious moments. I also loved how it featured some of our old favourites from FreeBirds and KPD Swat. You will be taken on a ride full of twists and turns to your heart as Tai and Mia’s story is full of tragedy, turmoil, off the charts passion and an unwavering support system that will give these two just what the need to heal and love.
Tia and Mia’s story was amazing! The heart break they go through was truly felt as I read it. The love and strength they have is beautiful. Another wonderful read
This is the first book in the Kilogre Fire series and what a great start for this series. It will be hard to top this one! And OMG, I want to call Lani Lynn Vale a few mean words for making me cry so early in this book! But she did have me laughing a few chapters later with talk of Styrofoam, kids, and a leaf blower.
I absolutely love Tai and Mia. The beginning is so heartbreaking, especially for Mia.
The thing I really love the most about Lani’s books is how easy it is to connect and lover her characters. She will have you sad and then laughing again.
And of course the sayings at the beginning of each chapter are awesome!
“I didn’t choose the thick – thigh life; the thick – thigh life chose me.”
“If you stroke my beard, I cannot be held responsible for the pregnancy that will follow.”
I am definitely looking forward to reading more of this series!
This is the first in the Kilgore Fire series, BUT, big but, Tai is Jack’s brother; Jack is from the Freebirds series, so there are characters that show up from that series, just FYI.
Lani Lynn Vale absolutely killed me with this story!! We are talking full out ugly cry! It’s a true gift when you can have a reader blubbering in one chapter and in the next, laughing so hard that they almost pee their pants; thankfully Bean didn’t kick in that moment or it would have been bad.
I have been waiting for Tai to meet his match since we met him. Mia is the perfect match for him, and OMG she had me in stitches….. there is one scene…. never mind. I love that we got to see the guys from Freebirds, it was like coming home a bit.
There was a lot going on in this book, tons of drama and as usual the sex is off the charts hot, but there is also something so deep and heartbreaking about this story that took this to a different level for me. There aren’t stars high enough to rate this story. I think this may be my new favorite of her books! 5 stars just cuz amazon and GR suck!
I find it a bit slow to get into, as this is my second read from this author I felt a bit lost with some of the characters.
I didn’t want to give up as I liked them.
Half way through it got interesting and I started to enjoy it.
I loved Tai and Mia and thought they were great characters who both suffered losses and could help each other with their pain.
Everything at the end comes together and it ended up being a good read
Love Tai. A great starts to a new series. Can’t wait for more
