Shimmering Emeralds (Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems, #3), my thirtieth read from author Ann Omasta. Another entertaining, and well-written read the third in this captivating series that I’d managed to read out of order, not realizing I’d missed a book until I was done reading Shocking Sapphires (Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems #5). I received a free Kindle copy of this book & have liked the Audible editions read by the author so much I went out & bought this one to catch up on the series. The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I’ll be reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
After the cliffhanger of the previous book, I was able to enjoy a sigh of relief but it was temporary. This secrets that this town manages to keep bottled up is amazing. As a little one struggles to survive, history unravels. The story moves quickly even if the time covered is short.
This series should be read in order. Skipping around is not advisable as the stories may tell the tale for different characters, they are very much intertwined.
Levi is a little bit country. Meg, who is Claire’s sister, is a whole lot of rock and roll. These two opposites will meet in the middle or find that their past mistakes rob them of their second chance at romance. – I liked Levi but found Meg to be brusque and hateful to most except her daughter, Harper. The characters from the first two books of the series are in this book too. A mystery from the first book that continues in book 4.
No one messes with Meg but we never really knew why she was so darn prickly however we start to learn what happened years ago with Levi after a horrific bus crash involving Kevin Dursley. We get to see another side of Meg and can kind of see why she did what she did but also found it harsh so I felt quite torn. Levi on the other hand you can’t help but like the guy, he is a good guy who is back in town and trying to reconnect with people from his childhood town. There are plenty of emotions for you to go through with this book just like the others and you can’t help but gun for Meg to finally have something to smile and be happy about as she deserves it and well so does Levi!
Emotional and fascinating!
I felt that the author had a special ability of conveying depth in the personalities, bringing life and likability to each character.
The writing draws you in and keeps you interested until the end.
I received a copy of this book. This review was posted voluntarily.
I hadn’t thought I could have any soft feelings for Meg. After all her judgemental, rude disrespect and meanness in the last 2 stories toward members of her extended family. Even in this story. She started off as more of a harpy than not. Levi’s love for her soften my opinion. He is such a good guy, she must have some redeeming qualities.
‘Shimmering Emeralds’ takes place over the period of several stress filled days. The unexpected events and how they effect the characters is captivating.
Lorana Hoopes has some amazing talent, in writing her tales as well as telling them.
I recieved a free Audible copy of this story, at my request, in exchange for a honest review.
While I did enjoy this book on its own, I wish that I had read the first two before this one because of the references made in this story to previous events. This story is about Meg, Levi and Harper and how they come to find their HEA. It starts with a school bus wreck, then a medical emergency, a startling revelation, a bumpy road to forgiveness and ends with a cliffhanger. It was easy to read and I loved the characters, but I am definitely going to have to go back and start this series from the beginning.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The bus crash is the least of the excitement in this story
The story of Meg and Levi is as wonderful as the previous books in this series which centers around Brunswick Bay. Shimmering Emeralds starts where the previous book, Shining Pearls, left off. This story is about second chances but there is a whole lot more that happens in this story.
As with the previous books Ann Omasta has written a well crafted story with a very engaging story-line and nicely developed but flawed characters. The secondary characters add a lot to the story which is nice, some we know from the previous books and a few new ones are introduced. This was a nice read that kept my attention and I would recommend it to anyone that likes a sweet but drama filled romance.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I very much enjoyed reading this book. This is a story I am recommending to my friends. I was entertained and trilled to keep reading this story.
A captivating read from beginning to end! An exciting storyline that leaves you breathless wanting more! Sexy steam filled chemistry! Emotionally heartfelt, enjoyable and fun! One heck of a twisted, intense rollercoaster ride! An amazing must read!

This is a story of heartbreak and healing. I found I did not like this heroine. She deserved Luke leaving her for Nashville. She gave him no choice. She deprived Luke of his daughter. She is stupidly selfish. This author could not write the depth of anger that Luke must have felt. The thing is Luke is a beautiful person. He realizes what is important in life and that his why he returned to Brunswick Bay Harbor. This story is well written, but if I am going to hate one of the main characters it’s usually the guy. Meg is not worth Luke’s time or love, but the heart knows what it wants. It’s a good thing that Meg learned from her stupidity is all I have to say.
Very enjoyable series.
Levi left town to pursue a singing career leaving behind Meg.His first and only love.
Now he is back at his hometown. Fate brought them together under unexpected circumstances.
Meg’s daughter was injured, leaving her in a coma. Levi refused to leave Meg’s side and she let him stay.
But at the back of her mind is always question, will he go back to his career. Or will not?
It’s beautiful second chance . Will their love be strong enough, will they put the past behind.
Power of love and power of forgiveness.

What does it take to find your second chance? Levi has come home after going to Nashville to try his chance at country music fame. Now as a school bus driver, he is involved in an accident. One of the children injured is the daughter of his old flame, Meg. Leaving her several years ago to pursue his dream, she is the last person he wants to see. But fate has a way of changing things up. Meg is a strong, capable mother, but she needs as much support as she can get. Will she and Levi find their strength together? Ann Omasta has a gift when she writes, She pulls us in and tugs on our heart strings. This story had me as soon as the bus tilted. That worry as a mom had me with Meg at the hospital as she was getting the diagnosis of her daughter, and was with the Meg and Levi as they navigated through their past to now. With a few cameos of characters from books one and two and the birth of babies we were expecting, this series just keeps getting better! Omasta also treats us with her narration of the story, so we get to hear the book exactly as she wants us to. I love her performance and can’t wait to see what she has in store for us in book 4!

Shimmering Emeralds: Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems, Book Three was another great read by Ann Omasta. Meg is a tough woman, who has raised her daughter on her own. Levi left Meg and their hometown years ago to pursue his dreams of being a country singer. He returned to their hometown but didn’t want to face Meg. Unfortunately Levi drives a bus that is involved in a crash that held Meg and her daughter’s school class. The crash and the affect of the crassh bring Levi and Meg together. This was another great read by Ann Omasta.
Another Gem of a Story! Great Audible Listen
Shimmering Emeralds
Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems, Book 3
By: Ann Omasta
Narrated by: Ann Omasta
Ann Omasta pens another gem of a story, a great addition to to her ‘Brunswick Bay Harbor Gems’ series. This book picks up right where the 2nd book left off, when Alex and Claire are notified of a school bus accident containing their precious cargo, their daughter Hannah. Claire’s sister Meg and get daughter Harper were on the bus too. The bus swerved off the road when bus driver, Levi, avoided hitting someone on the road. Some of the children were injured in the accident the worst being Harper who remained comatose. Meg and Levi has a history, they were lovers before he set off to Nashville to start his career in country music. He stood by Claire’s side while they waited for Harper to wake from her coma. Meg was a secondary character in the first books and I did not care for her persona then but Ann Omasta humanizes her a bit more in this book, though not thrilled with some of her past actions I do get why she did what she did. I adored Levi, he is probably one of my favorite characters in this series or at least a close second to Dean. He harbored feelings for Meg and is hoping to rekindle their love. I liked how everything plays out in this second chance romance, there is drama, angst, a nice twist and a whole lot of emotions. No cliffhanger ending but Ann Omasta plants another “oh no” at the end. I am looking forward to what happens next in Brunswick Bay Harbor. Thank you Ann Omasta for another great story and Audible Listen
Much to Meg’s dismay, she has to take a class of kids on a field trip by herself because her sisters’ husband’s mistress is giving birth to their child. Even though Meg has a migraine, she continues the trip because her daughter and niece are on the school bus.
There is an accident and things go from bad to worse to better to great.
Looking forward to the next one in this series.
A school outing turns into a nightmare as someone runs across the road in front of the schoolbus causing the driver to swerve and go down a ravine. The children have to be lifted out of the back of the bus and helped back up the hill to wait for help. Meg Stark and her daughter make it to the top safely before Harper passes out and needs help to the hospital. The bus driver just happens to be Meg’s old love, Levi Ryan. Levi insists on going toi the hospital with Meg and Harper.
More drama ensues when Meg’s sister, Claire, goes into labor prematurely at the same time that her husband’s former lover, Josie Michaels, is delivering Alex’s baby as well.
Harper is in a coma and Levi wants to remain by her side with Meg. Meg wants him to stay. He brings her comfort.
Meg wants Levi close but she doesn’t. Levi left her a few years ago to go to Nashville to follow his dream of becoming a country star. Meg told him to go but she wished he had chosen her over his dream. Levi had the opportunity to become that big star but chose to return to Brunswick Bay Harbor, Maine to attempt to regain Meg’s love. It appears it will be an uphill battle against Meg’s family and her best friend, Dr. Danica Waters.
Will Levi and Meg put their love and happiness back on track and make a family with Harper?
I love that Meg gets her own story! She is much more than the angry sister looking protect her sister from her usual new family situation. She is a feisty single mom who will do anything for her daughter. When a school accident puts her face to face with the only man she ever loved her world is tilted off its axis. Levi have never stopped loving Meg and only left town because he thought that is what she wanted. As they navigate their old and renewed feelings Liam gets a bombshell dropped on him! I love how they work through the past, present and a possible future. Such a great story!!!
This series is written by one of my favorite authors.
Ms. Omasta has her finger on the pulse of her readers.
Her books are amazing and so is this series.
The story has many emotions and you will feel them all when reading.
The characters are genuine and likable.
This series is a must-read.
