** spoiler alert ** She is learning about a world she knew nothing about, he is determined to stop the ones bringing shame to his species. Will they both make it out alive?
Have to say that I loved how he could have just left it alone, but he became determined to do what was right. I didn’t blame her for being scared, but loved how she still showed strength even in her fear. Loved this quick steamy paranormal read.
Ellery is abducted and learns some harsh truths that she wishes she hadn’t. When she is put into a shed like room with two other women she learns why they have been taken. They have a protein in their blood that will allow them to be changed into wolves. Grey finds the women locked up and is immediately drawn to Ellery. When he tries to get freed he gets caught. He knows that Ellery is his mate so in order to save her from a rogue alpha. Will turning Ellery do more harm than good? Will they be able to stop Keifer from getting more girls?

Grey is an alpha shifter willing to sacrifice himself in order to protect innocent women from matchmakers, then he meets Ellery and things change for them both in a blink of an eye. I absolutely loved Shifting Fates. It is a captivating must read with twists and characters readers will love and some they will completely hate. Shifting Fates is an excellent beginning to a brand new series! It has practically everything you could ask for, including a tall, dark, Alpha, Male shifter that very protective of those he loves and considers to be a part of his family, and a young woman who is determined to do what she can to protect her family and friends herself.
These two people are both bound and determined to rescue those that are being treated unjustly and make sure everyone is able to go home safe, but will they be able to rescue themselves?
The heat level in this book is mild compared to some of the other books I’ve been reading lately, but the way it builds up, the anticipation and longing, is such that you feel like you’re right there with the characters watching it all evolve in person instead of reading it.
This was the first book I read by Lola Gabriel, but in no way will it be my ,ast! I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!!

In Lola Gabriel’s new series only humans with a specific enzyme – Sanmere – can be turned successfully into shifters, and so called matchmakers are looking actively for such humans, kidnap them and sell them to shifters to be turned and mated with. One of the strongest and most active matchmakers, Kiefer, a wizard, catches Ellery and brings her to a wolf-shifter pack lead by Alex, who builds himself a harem of newly turned women. While in her waiting cell with several other women, she meets Gray, alpha of a different pack, trying to stop Alex and his pack.
Freeing Ellery becomes his main focus, as he recognises her as his mate.
A good story-line, entertaining with a few surprises. The main topic of fighting a matchmaker makes it part of the series, but it can be read as an independent story.

I’ve read many of Lola Gabriel’s books before this, so I was fairly familiar with her writing style. This is the first book in her “Sanmere Fates” series and had me intrigued from the very beginning. The heroine, Ellery, has Sanmere, a special protein, in her blood which makes it possible for her to be turned into a shifter. The villain in this series is named Keifer, a warlock, kidnaps her and then sells her to Alex, an alpha wolf who plans to create a harem of human women and turn them into shifter mates. Following me so far? Good, because the hero is named Grey. He’s the alpha of a neighboring pack and distrusts Alex so he decides to try and learn his weaknesses. In the process, he comes across Ellery and two other women in a cage. Immediately, Grey recognizes Ellery as his fated mate and becomes distracted and is himself captured. This is an intense, heart-pounding adventure with drama, angst, and a fate induced chemistry that will not be denied. But whether or not they are able to achieve their happily ever after can only be answered if you read the book.
When Ellery realized there is only one path in front of her, the only choice is that she can go through it kicking and screaming… Or she can go through it with her head held high.

Ellery is kidnapped by a Matchmaker and finds herself in a cell waiting to be change and mated.

Ellery finds herself chained in a cell along with two other women waiting for the Alpha of the wolf pack to change and mate them into his harem. Alpha Grey is afraid that the actions of Alex and his pack will attract the notice of the humans and that they will hunt and kill all the wolf shifters in the area including his pack. He goes into the other pack strong hold to gather information to use to return and challenge and kill Alex giving him control of his pack and their behavior. As he explores one the buildings he finds three women one of them he recognizes as his mate.

This is a NON-SPOILER REVIEW. Shifting Fates by Lola Gabriel is the first book in the Sanmere Shifter series. I really enjoy Lola Gabriel reads. Action packed with sexy shifters and loads of drama and intense situations (Mature Readers Only). This isn’t the first book I’ve read that uses the “Sanmere Protein” as a basis for shifters finding mates and this series weaves it into a prominent component of the storyline. The characters are well written and evoke a host of emotions. A really good series opener.

This was my first book by Lola Gabriel and I enjoyed it. Shifting Fates is about an aggressive werewolf alpha working alongside with a warlock stealing women to become part of his pack. Insert the do-good alpha of another pack, a kidnapped women down on her luck, and a tough beta and you have a fun story line.
I like this story, but I felt it was light on the details between the two lead characters as well as the bad alpha. More detail in how the bad came to power would have been nice. A little more explanation of the warlocks and other women that had been captured would have been appreciated as well. I also feel it was a little light on the actual shifter side of the story. I feel the author writes well, I would appreciate more to the story.
