Shifter’s Journey by Laura Hawks
Rated 5 stars
What an interesting story! I was hesitant at first because of the time travel (which i am not a fan). But it was so smoothly done. I also love Shifter books so i took a chance on this. I was entranced with the story and read it fairly quickly. The story drew me in with all the action, suspense and mystery that it was full of. Of course there was some romance as well.
This book is full of lots of entertaining characters along with some nice history. (The story of the Harvey Girls was interesting to me.) There was a full range of character from those you love….to those you love to hate. The mystery part of the story was done well. I was shocked at what happened. (Which it is usually hard to sneak something past me.) I was pleased that the ending complimented the story perfectly. We get to go full circle on this ride!
This was a first time author for me. Although I enjoy more dialogue and less descriptive paragraphs this was done nicely. I understand that the history involved made the need for some lengthy paragraphs. I would definitely check out her other books in this series.
Shifter’s Journey by Laura Hawks
Four Stars
Shifter’s Journey is the third book in the Spirit Walker Thrillers series by Laura Hawks. This book can be read as a stand alone because this is the first book I have read by this author and had no problem jumping right in. This book is different than I usually read, but I loved it from the very first page. The story flowed well and the descriptions were detailed. This book jumped from present to past and the time travel was fascinating. Sierra was a strong character who resonated with me. I really enjoyed reading this book and look forward to going back and reading the first two books in this series.
Shifter’s Journey by Laura Hawks was an entrapping tail full of drama, action, mystery and of course, time travel.
My first book by this author, and for this series. In saying that, this is the third book in the Spirit Walker Thrillers, but can be read as a stand alone. Coming in at a whopping 542 pages I was ready to hunker down and go into speed reading mood to skip over filler. I must say that I did little of that. The writing was engaging, entreating and managed to keep lulls to a minimum. There are some, as there will be when the page count is high. What I’m getting at is, don’t be deterred by the high page count. Once you start reading you will be sucked into it’s old western type world.
The pace is nice and steady, always moving. As we are tossed back in time, things are richly detailed, not just the world building but the characters. I love them, each had their own voice, and all were well rounded and complex. This added to an already mysterious plot, giving the story that extra something that kept you reading. There was action that got your heart pumping, secretes that threaten to destroy everything, and some tones of romance to spice things up, and throw a wrench into melting pot.
Overall this is a very enjoyable read, it has all the elements I love in a mix genera read. What kicks it off even more, that when your into the story, really into it, you don’t even notice, or care that it’s 542 pages. You just want t keep reading, to figure out the mystery, find out if our MC makes it back home, just all those thrilling plots lines pile up on one another until your at the end, and you don’t knew if your happy it’s over, or sad and frustrated that.. it’s over.
On that note, if you haven’t guested this is a high recommendation from me. If you feel this review was a little vague, well, it all comes down to, sometimes a story is so incredibly good that saying anything about it in detail, will spoil the experience for those coming in behind. This book, is worth your time. It’s a must read, and I want you to feel all the tings I felt upon finish. You can only read a book once, so why spoil it for the rest of you?
Happy Reading.

Shifter’s Journey by Laura Hawks
Stara: 4
Laura Hawks combined time traveling, shifters, romance, and mystery to make Shifter’s Journey.I thought that this book was well written, and it was an engaging story. I particularly liked how the story flowed and connected each section of the book.
As for the characters, Sierra was inquisitive, insightful, and brave. She followed her gut and did what she thought was right. Stone is good for Sierra, and he tries to do what he thinks is right for her. I loved reading about them, and how they handled everything thrown at them. I absolutely loved Anna. She is sweet and such a good friend to Sierra. I’m glad we got to know more about her and her ending as well.
Shifter’s Journey is the third book in the Spirit Walker Thrillers series by Laura Hawks and is a paranormal romance full of mystery and intrigue. Not sure what to expect, I was pleasantly surprise and hooked. Laura has written a story with various plots that are cleverly orchestrated like juggling balls. The action and drama is full on and the suspense and twists and turns keep you glued to the story waiting to see what happens as it unfolds. This story will take on a journey through time and will leave you eager for more.
a great read about adventure. after a series of strange dreams, Sierra Hall takes a vacation to Colorado Springs to explore the history of the place. But her world is turned upside down when she is transported to 1885 whilst on a train. struggling to deal with being stuck in the past, will she be able to find her way home before events escalate and it is too late?
a great read. well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. I loved the sense of mystery over what happened in the past.to keep you reading to find out what happened and if Sierra will be able to return to the present. I loved the sense of adventure for Sierra. this with fast paced action of the events creates a captivating read.
well developed characters like Sierra braving a strange adventure while struggling to deal with time travel or Stone trying to respect his people while struggling with his feelings or Anna as a supportive and kind friend. a brillaint villain that will send shivers up your spine.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like the nature of Colorado Springs mountains and forests. I also loved the visual detail of the past contrasting with the present. overall, a great read I would give it five stars
Shifters Journey (Spirit Walker Thrillers Book 3)
By Laura Hawks
4 stars
I have got to say I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book but I did! So, so much! There really was so much going on in this book but it was in no way confusing at all! I loved the authors writing, it was so easy to follow and didn’t take me long to devour the whole book. I loved all the beautiful descriptive language that she used; I loved that I could easily imagine what I was reading. I do love bit of time travel so I was excited when this happened in the story. I really liked the characters, especially Sierra; I think why I connected with her was due to the authors writing. The time travel part left me a little confused so I definitely knew how Sierra felt!! I thought that was actually really clever on the authors part – I definitely felt invested as a reader!
The story had some great twists and turns in it which I enjoyed immensely. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
Shifter’s Journey (Spirit Walker Thrillers Book 3)
By Laura Hawks
While Shifter’s Journey is the third book in the Spirit Walker series, I must say that it is very easy to read as a standalone book. I love finding new authors and finding that I really enjoy their work. Shifters Journey is no different I do recommend that you get yourself a copy and go on Sierra’s journey with her. This book caught my full attention within the first couple of chapters. This book gives us a whole lot of adventure, drama, action and with a paranormal romance thrown in just for good measure. So, we have Sierra who finds herself transported back to the year 1895 from the year 2018. Now Sierra has to find a way in which to blend in to this period. Can she achieve this? Laura has given us a book not only with a strong main character but some strong supporting characters as well. We also meet Stone Red Tree, a man with an admirable character, who thinks of everyone before himself, there was nothing not to like about this man. I don’t think I have ever read a book written in such a unique way before. Which for me enhanced my enjoyment of this book. I highly recommend that this book is read, and I do hope that you enjoy it as I have.
I love this story. It starts out in present time with Sierra venturing across the country due to some dreams she had been having. She knows she gets visions and premonitions but never had they been strong enough for her to travel very far. Sierra is tough, self-controlled, adventurous and brave. A perfect heroine. Her adventure takes her into the past to discover her very own destiny.
There are no illicit sex scenes, no dark twisty romances, just a surprising Shifter journey! With this story you can settle in for a nice read. To me this story reads like an old country song; slow and easy. Not boring at all but more like how life might really have been in the 1800’s. Until the plot twist. Sierra meets Bart in the town. He makes her a giggling school girl. She meets Stone out in the woods. He respects her and makes her heart pitter patter. Which one is her destiny? Are they the reason she is time traveling? Each man has a secret. Sierra must keep one and reveal the other.
I really enjoyed this story. Apparently, this is book 3 in a series. It can certainly been read as a stand alone and I am so excited to go read the other books in this series.
Shifters Journey by Laura Hawks is the third book in her Spirit Walker Thriller series. This can be read as a stand-alone.
When Sierra travels to Colorado Springs she doesn’t expect to travel even further – like back in time. But in doing so she uncovers a mystery of girls disappearing.
In n attempt to survive in this new world Sierra becomes a Harvey girl, all the whole trying to find a way home.
When Stone, a local tribesman saves her life the mystery of this new place deepens even further.
Will Sierra ever make it home?
I have to admit I didn’t particularly find the blurb to this book appealing however I am glad I trusted my instincts and gave it s go. The writing drew me in immediately. I loved the character of Sierra and how she learnt to adapt to her new surroundings. The story was intriguing – I wanted her to solve the mystery. I couldn’t wait to find out how or if she got home again. I didn’t read the first two books but I will certainly be going back to add them on!
I typically do not like “historical romance” but I do enjoy time travel and shifters. The good of the latter outweighed the former in SHIFTER’S JOURNEY. This is book three which I read as a stand-alone with no problems.
This was an interesting story of a reporter with “intuition” and maybe even psychic ability who feels compelled to go on vacation to somewhere she has never been.
There were a couple of really cool things about this story. It is very dynamic and descriptive in the writing when framing the period the story takes place in. Thanks to the author note at the beginning, I was not struggling to find out if something really existed or not. The period clothing and attitudes (I’m so glad I live in this century) are interesting and the story is never flat. The story is well plotted and has a very distinctive tone and pace. Based on my experience with this book, I would give this genre another try in the future (or the past, whenever my journey takes me).
****
Shifter’s Journey by Laura Hawks was my first experience by this author. This was most definitely an intriguing story.
We get to meet Sierra Hall, a reporter who somehow finds herself traveling back in time to 1895 to Colorado Springs. There is something about this place that seems to call to Sierra. She figures out a way to blend in and fit in, and tries to settle herself.
I loved the mystery that we get with this book. This author has a unique writing style, which definitely captivates your attention and doesn’t let you go. I think this is what I enjoyed the most, seeing as I felt like I was living there with the characters – and experiencing everything that they did. I enjoyed the character development and falling in love with characters for different reasons. This is most definitely a 4 Star Book for me!
Shifters Journey by Laura Hawks

Very intriguing read. The author catches your attention with all the details and the complex plot. You go from 2018 to 1895 where Sierra finds herself on a unique and soul finding journey. There are so many aspects to this story mystery, paranormal, suspense, action and adventure. The author gives many great supporting characters. When women start going missing Sierra follows her instincts that it is more than what it seems. Right from page one the author hooks you with a little drama. The jump between years was a little confusing but I’m guessing the author did that so we felt what Sierra felt at that time. I really enjoyed Stone Red Tree as a character. He has many qualities that I admire in a person. He will doing anything for his people and some how that includes Sierra. Though she finds her in a different time she doesn’t let it affect who she truly is or her beliefs. Though she has some trust issues you do get to watch her grow through the story.
