There is no such thing as magic, or sexy shifters. Or… is there?Moira Graham’s car breaks down in the tourist town of Kotoyeesinay, Wyoming. She’s on the run. Again. A crazy billionaire wants to possess her ability to predict the future, but it’s not a “gift.” It’s simple guesswork. Magic doesn’t exist. And this quirky town—which uses elves, fortune tellers, and fairy-tale gimmicks to draw … tellers, and fairy-tale gimmicks to draw tourists in—isn’t helping.
Roving carpenter Chance McKennie is a prehistoric shifter on the lookout for a mate. Unfortunately, people fear his lion, and don’t stick around long enough to get to know the man. He thought his luck would change in Kotoyeesinay, but his skills aren’t needed in this magical sanctuary town with creatures of myth and legend on every block.
When Moira bumps into him, she’s almost willing to believe in the magic of this place. But it’s going to take more than a red-hot handyman and some glowy lights to save her from ruthless hunters.
Chance is determined to protect his mate and help her find the magic in her blood. But even a top predator can’t guess the lengths to which a desperate billionaire will go to get what he wants.

Until next time… Happy Reading!
This paranormal romance is difficult to describe. It projects sweet but has heat (boy, does it have heat). The characters feel human with foibles but also rock the non-human. The action is suspenceful but the the story is clean. Van Natta takes the heroine running away from trouble trope and gives it a lovely twist. This is a fun read.

Shift of Destiny by Carol Van Natta is an amazing story that I have read. This is book number two in this amazing story that I have fallen in love with from the very begining. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about shifters and paranormal romances in their stories.

Moira Graham is on the run once again from an obsessive rich man who wants to own her. She hasn’t been able to stay in one place for long before having to run again. When her car breaks down in the magical town of Kotoyeesinay, Wyoming, her plan is to find a temporary job to make enough money to fix her car and then move on. Then she runs into Chance McKennie, a prehistoric shifter and skilled carpenter who has had trouble staying in one place as well. People are afraid of his lion, so he doesn’t hold out much hope of ever finding a mate and is just about to move on to another town. Moira has never believed in magic, but this town might just change her mind. Then danger threatens and Moira will need Chance’s help to learn to trust the magic she’s always had, as they work together to put an end to the threat once and for all. I loved the two main characters and the inventive way they and the townspeople took care of the threat of the crazy billionaire and his mercenary minions. I look forward to more stories set in this quirky, magical town.
This was my first book by this author and I must say I totally enjoyed it. It had just the right amount of all the ingredients you would expect from a hot shifter story. The characters were likable, the story moved quickly, and there was tons of energy, good humor, suspense, mystery and magic to keep your interest. I liked this book enough that I will go back and read the first and seek out more of this author’s work.
This was a great read! Moira has been on the run from a crazy man for the past 3 years. After almost getting caught, she heads into a new town which seems to cater to tourists with its magical beings theme. Turns out it is really a magical sanctuary town. She runs into Chance who turns out to be her mate. This was a great addition to the series! I can’t wait to read more!!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Moira is on the run from an obsessed millionaire when her car breaks down in a magical town. Chane McKennie, a wandering carpenter who happens to a shift runs into her at her time of need realises that not only is the woman more than she seems, she is his mate.
I enjoyed this sweet-ish, steamy-ish, shifter, paranormal romance. The hero was sweet and not overbearing, the heroine was special and had spark without that overdone ‘spunky’ feeling.
The story was done well, even if it isn’t anything extraordinary.
This is a trip into something familiar and still special.
The villains aren’t as well drawn as they could be, but they certainly are persistence. Side-characters were interesting and special and inclusive.
Fun, sweet-ish with a couple of stamy-ish sex scenes and a new kind of shifter.

This book was better then I honestly expected. The story is just different enough from others in the genre for it to feel new. I enjoyed it and would recommend it. My only complaint would be that at times the flow seemed a little stilted.

Moira is on the run, because a man believes she is a psychic who will help him find all answers to better his wealth and power. She herself does not believe in any kind of magic.
In a small town her car breaks down, and unbeknown to her she is in a town full of paranormals who found sanctuary there.
A turbulent, exciting time awaits her – finding out that she has magic, a mate and surviving the attack and kidnapping of her stalker and his minions.
A page-turning story, full of excitement and discovery – of herself and of realising who others are and what they can do.
A lovely read.

Book two in the Ice Age Shifters series by an Author I have not read before. Chance McKennie and Moira Graham’s story kept me turning pages. I want to read more in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Chance is in town to find a mate. Moira arrives trying to escape an obsessed ex. Chance and Moira are a little arkward together in the beginning. Chance knows that there is more to Moira than meets the eye. Moira has no clue she is not completely human. A nice story

I really enjoyed book 1 in this series and when I received a copy of this one I started it as soon as I could. Shift of destiny is just as good as book 1 and I was quickly pulled back into this world filled with shifters and other paranormal creatures. I am not sure what is about the way this author writes her books, but they manage to hook me every time. Her writing style really works for me. And I love this series so far!
Shift of destiny follows the story of Moira and Chance. Both have been on the move for a long time. Moira is running from someone who wants to own her for her psychic gift, but Moira doesn’t believe in magic and thinks her magic is actually some lucky guesses. Chance has been looking for his mate, never staying anywhere long. When they meet each other in Kotoyeesinay the sparks fly and their immediately attraction to one another quickly blazes into more.
The main plot line is focused on their romance and the dangerous man who is after Moira. There is some danger and action involved there before things get resolved. I have to admit that the way something was resolved at the end seemed a bit too easy, but I guess the magic made it all look real. This gives us another piece of information of the bad type of people who inhabit this world and what they do.
I liked both main characters. Moira has done a lot of different jobs and I liked how her knowledge of the varied things she learned come in handy multiple times. She has learned to trust no one, be on her guard and move at the first sign of trouble. She never had the time to stay in one place for long. She knows how to take care of herself, but also doesn’t push help away when it came her way, which was a great combination or characteristics.
It was interesting how she didn’t believe in magic and explained the magical things away with mundane explanations. But when Chance opens her eyes to what is really around them, she slowly dared to believe in her magic. The change in her was done believable and realistic, which is so hard to achieve in paranormal books. And I loved her unique brand of magic, it was so interesting and unique.
Chance has left his family as his parents their packs didn’t know what to do with his unique beast. He always has been alone and traveling a lot. He is handy and likes to build things, which was fun to read about. But in Kotoyeesinay there is no one who needs his type of work, so he plans to move onward, but then he meets Moira. He was protective of Moira, but also admired and appreciates her expertise and opinion, which I liked. I also liked how he wanted to be truthful with her and at the same time tried to tell her things bit by bit so as not to overwhelm her.
The romance in this book develops quickly and it doesn’t take much time before they share their first kiss and then more. I really liked these two as a couple, but wouldn’t have minded a few more getting to know each other scenes before they reached the I love you stage. But at the same time they fit so well together and work so well together, it’s hard to really let that bother me. They really made for a great couple.
There also is a fun appearance of the daughter from the couple of book 1. As there is a lot of years between the two books, the daughter of the couple from book 1 is now an adult and she plays a role later in this book where she explains some things to Moira. It was fun to have the book tie in with book 1 on that point. And ofcourse the town and some of the side characters that were part of book 1 also play a role here as well. I wish some of the side characters would get their own story as there are some great side characters.
I loved returning to this world Carol Van Natta has created. There are shifters, ice age shifters and a lot of other paranormal creatures. In this book a lot of the story takes place in and around Kotoyeesinay and I enjoyed spending more time in this quirky magical town. In the first book they only arrive in the town pretty late in the book, so it as fun to have this book take place here for the most part. There is more we learn about the ice age shifters as well as other paranormal creatures and magic.
To summarize: I loved returning to this world with ice age shifters that Carol Van Natta has created. I had so much fun reading Shift of Destiny and I just wanted to keep reading and figure out what would happen next. Moira and Chance are both likeable characters and I liked how realistic they felt. They both haven’t had the easiest life, but things sure go better once they meet each other. I liked them together, although the romance did develop a bit fast. They are a great team and I liked how they dealt with the challenges on their way together. I really liked seeing Moira go from not believing in magic to slowly accepting that part of herself, the change felt very realistic and believable which is rare to find in a paranormal book. I liked learning more about this world, the shifters and the magical town of Kotoyeesinsay (and I finally know how to pronounce it!). I really enjoyed this book and the end gives a small hint of what I think will be the focus of the next book!
A great second story
Van Natta brings Shift of Destiny to her Ice Age Shifters series as book 2. Now, it’s a new story and introduces the readers to Moira, as the story just gets started. Yes, it’s a magical shifter story but it brings a sense of realism with its characters and their chemistry. I enjoyed reading this and getting to know the characters that interconnect with each other. A great second story, and I know there is more, so I’ll just have to keep reading Van Natta’s work. A wonderfully grand second story by a talented storyteller.
This book is unintentionally funny. The descriptions of the folk of Kotoyeesinay are hysterical and the folk are officially crazy. A woman walking around with knowing magic, but doesn’t know she has it. She ends up in Kotoyeesinay after being stalked by some psycho CEO. She meets Chance McKennie and sparks fly. I enjoyed reading this story even with the intense climax; every page had something to smile about.
I really, really enjoyed this story! Moira is on the run from an obsessive billionaire. When she breaks down in the magical town of Kotoyeesinay she’s going to find her life turned upside down, especially when she meets handsome Chance. Chance is a unique shifter that is looking for a mate. When he bumps into Moira he sees someone that has no clue who she is and his beast and he can’t help but need to protect her. The author has written a beautiful and action packed paranormal romance. I loved the many characters we meet and all the hot moments interspersed throughout the plot. This story has a little bit of everything; magical creatures, mystery, humor and romance. I highly recommend this book!
Shift of Destiny is the second standalone book in the Ice Age Shifters series.

Final Rating: 5 Stars
I just visited a whole town of wonderful people and full of magic. Two of these wonderful people were Moira and Chance who are strong and easily connected to which made me want to get to know them better and boy did I get to know them. Both of them has a bit of wanderlust inside them out of necessity which it makes it hard to get to know people and even more, it makes it hard for them to get to know themselves so when their chemistry starts sparks flying and feelings of settling down, they are a taken aback a bit but find that they really want to explore the attraction. So the romance between is quite sweet and full of passion but this couple has a ways to go to reach their happily ever after.
Secrets and danger adds lots of thrilling suspense and energy to the story as Moira’s past catches up to her and embarks quite an elaborate scheme to kidnap her and most of the town for the bad guys entertainment, add in some surprising twists and betrayals to the mix and there is never a dull moment to be found within this fast paced story.
I love Carol Van Natta’s Central Galactic Concordance series so I was really excited to discover that she had begun a new series, unfortunately I missed reading the first one (I will have to remedy that) but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the heck out of Shift of Destiny. The Ice Age Shifters adds uniqueness to the shifter worlds and the town where the story takes place – Kotoyeesinay – really adds something special to this world because it’s fun, unique, magical and quite quirky so relished in a few chuckles along the way even the bad guy was quite entertaining. I am definitely looking forward to visiting again so I get to know more of these delightfully charming characters and their fascinating town.
