Porter “Oz” Reed knew better than most how words could hurt just as much as a fist. He never planned on getting married or having kids, but all that changed when his nine-year-old nephew was dropped off on his doorstep.Riley Rogers is done with men. But her plan to stay single takes a hit when her tall, dark, and very handsome neighbor needs assistance with his nephew. The relationship-phobic pair … relationship-phobic pair team up to make sure Oz’s nephew feels safe in his new environment and to protect themselves from someone in the past who isn’t happy they seem to be hitting it off so well.
** Shielding Riley is the 4th book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Susan Stoker books (and Delta Team series) are addictive. Each book is a standalone but are linked by familiar and wonderful characters. This is Oz and Riley’s story. And some new additions. I love the alpha stories and their protective nature and their gooey hearts. Romance and suspense and warmth. Bravo and so much more!!!
He a delta force operator gets his nephew put on his doorstep due to his sister’s death he doesn’t know what to do so he asks his neighbor for help Loganslowly begins to trust and he knows Porter will never throw him out he ihelps a classmate Riley and Porter are proud of him when Porter has to go on a mission he buys Logan a suitcase that doesn’t go over well Riley and Porter become closer after the mission it’s time for sizzling romance then Logan tells his secret he has a sister Porter and Riley go to get her he needs his teams help then there’s another incident where the team has to rescue the kids but at the end Porter asks her to marry him they have a happy ending
Possibly my favorite in the series thus far.
Oz with those kids was sooo yummy! Definitely the father figure his niece and nephew needed. And he couldn’t have done it without Riley there to help learn how to be a dad–and learn how to accept what was in his heart.
Porter “Oz” Reed get surprising news that he has a nephew and he now has to take care of the little boy. problem is he can’t figure out how to do that. freaking out about what little boys eat for breakfast he knocks on his neighbour’s door, Riley Rogers, asking for her help.
Once again I’m falling in love with a book.
I loved how Riley was willing to give up her food to feed Logan, how she made sure to tell Oz that he was doing an amazing job being a parent. Her relationship with both boy and man was heartwarming. She was good for both of them.
Oz was so good with Logan, no wonder the kid trusted him with his secret. His past made me tear up a few time, the kid had a hard life and now his uncle was there to take care of him.
“I’m proud of you, Slugger.”
At that moment, Logan knew it for sure that he can trust Oz to keep him safe. Logan’s secret will shock you just as it did to Oz.
It broke my heart, but it also mended it.
I love it.
“Shielding Riley” is the fifth book in the Delta Team Two series and I think it is my favorite so far. It is the story of Riley Rogers and Porter “Oz” Reed, they are next door neighbors and he is silently fist bumping the fact that Riley is kicking her current boyfriend to the curb. The walls are thin in their apartments so he knows what has been happening, but he refuses to let the guy lay a hand on her. His happiness only last a few minutes because he is introduced to a nephew, Logan, that he knew nothing about and the fact that he will now be raising him. Oz has no clue where to even start, so Riley lends a hand and from there the story only gets better. More mystery and secrets are revealed as Oz slowly comes to terms with his new life.
Of course his team mates have his back but it is Riley who is the most helpful in the end.
This was an emotional rollercoaster of a story and I hated to see it end! The highs left me euphoric and the lows were often gut wrenching. Porter, Riley, young Logan and little Bria are indelibly imprinted on my heart and forever etched in my mind. Susan Stoker has once again demonstrated why her books are so addictive.
All of Susan Stoker’s books are wonderful. This one is no exception. For the first time I can remember, a child is one of the main characters. Oz’s nephew comes to be in Oz’s custody, after losing his mom, Oz’s sister. His navigation of the tumultuous adventure s of parenting, along with his neighbor Riley’s help, made me adore Oz even more than usual, when I fall in love in love with each and every one of Susan’s heroes. This one really pulled at my heart strings.
Riely and Oz have their hands full in this great story. alot of twists and turns. very heart warming
I love Susan Stoker and read all her series books. this was one a favorite
OMW! This story flawed me, heart breaking, uplifting and inspiring. Oz stepped straight up, no question or doubt about taking on his nephew. Riley to, no hesitation whatever to help and do what she could. This story had so much going on with the couple getting to know each other, them getting to know Logan and him learning to trust. Then the team have missions and Intel, training, the other guys have their relationships. But despite everything they all had each others backs, this family is growing fast but the bonding between them all is steadfast. I cried, smiled and cried again. It broke my heart but eventually put it back together. Intense, upsetting at times, even angry at points, it pulled every emotion possible from me as a reader, I loved the little bits of romance that snuck in, the little fun and light hearted moments that honestly were needed because of the painful parts. Oz and Riley I loved absolutely, the team and their partners I adored, my heart though was stolen by Logan and Bria, just like Annie back in the day. Started 9/3/21 finished 10/3/21
This book had me from the start! Porter “Oz” Reed has listened as his neighbor, Riley Rogers, is verbally abused. He silently cheers as she kicks her abusive ex out and goes to stand in the hall as he makes his exit just to make sure he doesn’t harm her. Before he can get back in his door he is finds himself the guardian of a 10 year old nephew he had no idea existed. His estranged sister was murdered and he is the next of kin. Clearly out of his element he Oz runs next door and seeks help from his neighbor. The two bond over 10 year old Logan. He has a huge secret and it’s a big one. There is action, danger, suspense, horrible child abuse, hot steamy scenes and two people finding something they didn’t know they needed.
This book was the perfect mix.
I love these types of books where it is equally emotional and suspenseful.
Oz’s life was thrown for a loop when he became the guardian for a nephew he didn’t know existed. Here he is this big bad Delta who has a dangerous job and now he’s a single parent. Watching him navigate this new terrain all the while dealing with a boy who has been traumatized was heartbreaking to see but yet it spoke to the type of man that Oz was. I loved that he knew that Logan needed space but he also knew that Logan needed to understand that he was safe with him.
Riley was an amazing character. She fit in with Porter so well. They started from day one being a team when it came to Logan all the while feelings were developing.
Every one of Susan Stoker’s Delta Team Two’s stories have captured my heart and Shielding Riley is no exception. Great storyline and marvelous character mixed in with a good measure of suspense and action makes for thorough entertainment. Watching Oz struggle with becoming a single parent, his developing friendship and subsequent feelings for Riley and trying to reconcile his guilt with his grief over the death of his sister was utterly captivating. Riley has always had loser boyfriends, so keeping Oz in the strictly friend zone makes sense. The problem is that she’s falling hard and fast.
This book is Porter/Oz and Riley’s story.
This is book 5 in this series.
It was an awesome read that I couldn’t put down, a complete straight up page turner.
I was enthralled the entire way through.
The ending…OMG!! Just…WOW!!

A DIFINITE MUST READ!!
Porter “Oz” Reed is every woman’s dream man!
WOW….this book has got to be one of my new favorites from the awesome Susan Stoker! This story just sucks you right in from the very first page. I love how the story starts out with Oz trying to connect with his nephew who he just learned about. Watching him have a mini freak out in front of Riley over what to feed Logan for breakfast just made me chuckle. I love how even though Oz is a tough Delta soldier, he’s also not afraid to show his loving and caring side. The way that he and Riley get to know each other is so sweet and I think it’s so cute how he keeps talking about needing to take her out for a first date even though they spend almost every day together. These two totally needed each other and how they both are so loving and protective of Logan will pull at your heart. Not to mention the little secret that Logan has been keeping. That just blew me away and totally added to the whole story. Trust me when I say that this is one story of Susan’s that you don’t want to miss!
It’s finally Oz’s time to fall hard and fast for his next door neighbor Riley. It wouldn’t be a Susan Stoker book if there weren’t danger, unexpected surprises, ex-boyfriends and so much more coming along as well. Would be a boring read if it was smooth sailing… Anyway. A very heart-warming story about trust, love and adjusting to very new situations no one could have ever dreamed about. Perfect. Can’t wait for Lucky and Devyn to get together in the next book of the series.
O.M.G. I just finished Susan Stoker’s Shielding Riley and I feel like I’ve been through the wringer. I loved how Oz and Riley interacted with each other but Logan and Bree absolutely stole my heart. I don’t mind admitting that there were several times that I was brought to tears. 5 stars for Ms Stoker once again.
