She’s always been an outsider, but it’s a dangerous time to be alone and he may be her only hope.
Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it’s witnessing a young girl’s last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends…except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met … soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he’d tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn’t really be interested in a relationship.
When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage “Lefty” Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn’t feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes…until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn’t turn her away even if he wanted to—and he doesn’t. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she’s The One.
Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places…and a very patient hitman on retainer.
** Shielding Kinley is the 2nd book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

I love a story with a good background. Kinley was rescued once before in Africa and now she’s in trouble again. There’s plenty of action, heat and HEA.
This was a riveting read. The thrilling plot was filled with intrigue, suspense, and romance. Moreover, the interesting and believable characters, Gage and Kinley, gushed with chemistry. They were truly made for each other. The author’s use of vivid details helped to create a thrilling and suspenseful tone. I enjoyed reading the page-turning narrative.
I really enjoy Susan Stoker’s writing and her characters. This story was interesting and exciting!
This is another fun, steamy, hot, read full of hot special forces men and sassy, independent women.
A great continuation of a brilliant series
There is danger, drama, intrigue and an eventual happy ever after.
Highly recommend.
Great as all her books are
This is my favorite type of story to read … you are hooked on the first page. She survived the welfare system. Turned lemons into lemonade and got a happy life. Wonderful story
This is the 2nd book I read by Susan Stoker. I’m sorry I stopped reading this story at chapter 4 because it didn’t grab my interest. SHIELDING GILLIAN was much better.
Good read.
Every book that Susan writes is wonderful, just wish the books were longer and more in depth on all characters in each book
Awesome, all her books r page turners, can’t put down!!!!!
Solid 3.5 stars and decent addition to the series.
Lefty and Kinley, the beginnings of friends as they meet and spend time during their respective jobs (and a rescue). Fears and hesitation. Another meeting. Stronger connections and then silence. Then the pace picks up as a killer stalks Kinley. This is a page turner, very unpredictable and intense. It is a romance and sexy. Many twists and turns. This is a standalone but you do want to read the other books (and I am). Warm characters, strong men and stronger women. And horrible bad guys. Bravo once again (I stayed up way too late to finish the book but so worth it)!!!
Kinley is one of the strongest heroines Ms. Stoker has written. A better sustained mystery/suspense element than many of her books.
But I gave it 5 stars just for the reunion scene in the Aces Bar at the end. So emotional for me.
Shielding Kinley By Susan Stoker
This is the second book in the author’s Delta Ream Two series which also has a cameo of Merlin’s Delta Team who will be in a new series. This story is all Kinley and Gage “Lefty” Haskins who’ll meet twice before she witnesses an event that will change her life while in Paris with her boss.
Kinley Taylor has always wanted two things a family and to be noticed as a person because growing up n the Foster Care system being part of a family is everything as well as wanted by someone. But when she witnesses the US ambassador tossing a body in a dumpster her life will change forever. That one event when she mentions what she saw to her boss will change her life forever sending her running for her life to the only place of safety Texas and Gage. He’ll have to rescue her more than once and will call in Cruz and the FBI who’ll try to keep her safe before she testifies again the two men who’s secret lives goes deeper than anyone knows. When she’s kidnapped by the hit man will Gage and his Delta Team be able to find her in time? Can they both survive when Kinley decides to enter WITSEC to keep everyone safe before the trial?
“Shielding Kinley” is the second book in the Delta Team Two series and it is fantastic. Loaded with suspense, angst, and drama this one will pull you in from the very first page. Kinley Taylor is an assistant to a political figure and she is really good at her job. While in Paris she meets up with Gage “Lefty” Haskins for the second time, he really wants to get to know her but she doesn’t understand why he would. Kinley is a witness to a young girls murder, and doesn’t have anyone to turn to when things start happening to her, unless she reaches out to Lefty. Once she fills Lefty in to what has been happening, he and his team are all about keeping her safe, no matter what it takes.
Romantic suspense done right, now on to the next book!!
What an amazing book this was!!! Both of these characters were amazing in there own way.
Lefty was a perfect hero in this book. He was strong and protective, but yet caring, concerned and patient. He didn’t rush Kinley in any way but yet was very vocal to her about his wants, desires and future plans but he was willing to do it at her speed.
I was blown away by Kinley. I could relate to her in so many ways. She has been hurt her entire life and has learned to depend on only herself and because of this has a very little self esteem. Watching her grow and build confidence under Lefty’s care was amazing to witness.
This story was very suspenseful and kept you on the edge of your seat.
Just wow. Such a good book. And so sad. Linley has had a really hard life and has seen the crappiest side of humans and how horrible they can be. Growing up in foster care and being neglected, abused and forgotten. Gage ‘lefty’ is a kick ass delta and one hell of a gentleman. He is perfect. And after learning more about Linley and her self proclaimed weirdness falls head over heels. He is determined to at least be her friend and get to know her and show her she has people in her corner. Then she is sucked into a horrible situation. And then she turns to gage and his crew for help. So much craziness. But the sad part is that people like the ambassador, her boss and assassin for hire to exist in the world. And bong I wanted to cry for her and gage when they were separated. Wow. Just ugh so painful. The ending was beautiful and I was so overjoyed with it. And then even happier about the delta 3 team being moved. GOD TEX IS AMAZING!! His character is essential to almost all Susan Stokers books. Whether he shows up or not her readers know that when it hits the fan Tex is there for his country and his fellow operatives and those who protect the innocent and weak. LOVED!!
Shielding Kinley by Susan Stoker is the second in her Delta Team Two series and I adored every single heart stopping and heart wrenching page of it!
I ADORED Lefty and Kinley! Gage is so caring, conscientious, while still being the man he is, strong, caring, respectful, HOT, and so much more!
Kinley is endearing, her charm, her shy nature, all of it wrapped up in a lovely package I just wanted to give the biggest hug. I wanted to be her biggest supporter and cheerleader, alongside Gage, and shower her with love and affection.
There’s action, there’s tension, there’s one HECK of an emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey and two individuals that I adore and loved seeing find themselves and one another!
I cannot wait to devour Brain and Aspen’s story next!
P. S. I need me a FLATOUT bear for sure!
I love Susan Stoker’s stories and Shielding Kinley is one of her best. We have Gage/Lefty the super alpha Delta Force soldier who is disappointed that after feeling a strong connection with Kinley she ghosts him. His desire to connect with her even if it’s just to be friends gives you all the feels. Despite this being a military romance, there are no damsels in distress in this book, Kinley is a force to be reckoned with just as much as Gage is. Kinley has had a hard, lonely life before she meets Gage and his team and does not feel worthy of love. But when Kinley’s life is in danger after seeing a high powered politician with a murderer victim the night she is killed, she seeks out Gage to help her contact the right people to share what she’s seen. This book has a little bit of everything just like you’d expect from a Susan Stoker story – sweet moments, strong friendships, fan your face sexy times, real life issues, imperfect characters, dangerous high stress situations, and so much love. With Shielding Kinley, book two in the Delta Two series, Susan Stoker once again proves she’s a fantastic storyteller.
Kinley has had a really rotten life, I felt so bad for her and then simply because she couldn’t sleep it takes an even worse turn, but she also finally gets some good mixed in with it. Well deserved too. Lefty is wonderful, I loved how he didn’t completely give up and immediately stepped up when needed, he was a real gentleman as well. This story was suspenseful, emotional and quite sweet in places, lots of love and care in between threats. There is a small amount of violence which is pretty graphic and full on. I love the team and how they have each others backs at exactly the right times, no questions, one call and everyone’s on board in minutes. Loving this new series
