She’s always been an outsider, but it’s a dangerous time to be alone and he may be her only hope.
Being raised in the foster system has made Kinley Taylor feel like a lifelong outcast, but it’s witnessing a young girl’s last few minutes on Earth that proves just how alone she truly is. Kinley has no one to turn to, no family, no friends…except perhaps the gorgeous Delta Force soldier she met … soldier she met months ago. The one she ignored when he’d tried to keep in touch, convinced he couldn’t really be interested in a relationship.
When Kinley ghosts him not once, but twice, Gage “Lefty” Haskins takes the hint. Clearly the pretty personal assistant didn’t feel the same connection he did. Or so he assumes…until she shows up in Texas, on the run for her life after already surviving an assassination attempt. Lefty couldn’t turn her away even if he wanted to—and he doesn’t. The longer he knows her, the greater the connection he feels. He just has to keep Kinley alive long enough to convince her she’s The One.
Easier said than done, when the man who wants her dead has friends in high places…and a very patient hitman on retainer.
** Shielding Kinley is the 2nd book in the Delta Team Two Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

Every time I think Susan Stoker’s books can’t get any more awesome, she writes one that is even better! Wow! I think I went through the entire emotional roadmap with Shielding Kinley. Lefty & Kinley met in Africa while his Delta team was providing protection, and he wanted to keep in touch, but she ghosted him. So this time, in Paris, he makes sure to talk to her about it, and they seem to be on the same page. But folks, this IS a Susan Stoker book, so you know it can’t be that easy. And the path Susan take them on is not only exciting, but at times heart wrenching, and oh so totally worth the read.
I’m a mess
OMG, Shielding Kinley is finally here and it was SOOOOOOOO GOODKinley is working for a politician who travels frequently when Kinley witnesses an event, she probably shouldn’t have. She reaches out to him and suddenly her life is spiralling out of controlNow she’s convinced someone is trying to kill her and the only person she can think of to help her, is Gage, the one man who finally SAW her, and the man she ghosted – not once but twice
This story was amazing as were the characters I’m super excited to read Brain’s story next and I’m so happy that Gage and Kinley got their story too
OMG….I loved Shielding Kinley. As always, Susan Stoker, author, was able to write a military romance that causes one to feel so many emotions. From crying to laughing and back again. It is just one of the reasons that Susan Stoker is one of my favorite authors and is the main reason I love military romances. If you like MC or Military romances you will love this book. Says MC because the military teams that Susan writes about have the brotherhood, alpha men, protective, and honor just like the great MC romances that I love too. Shielding Kinley is part of a series and can be read or listened to as a stand alone but you will get so much more if you read or listen to it as a series so you can get to know each person on Gage’s Delta Team and make it a more enriching experience. I love listening to Shielding Kinley because audiobooks with the right narrators can really bring it to life. The narrators for Shielding Kinley did an excellent job. As always the sex scenes are out of this world . This book/audiobook has it all….emotions, action, alpha men who are protective, confident, treat each as family and inspires loyalty and honor as well. Highly and I mean highly recommend this book/audiobook.
for the audio –
Shielding Kinley is one of those listens that you can do while easily doing other things. It will keep you listening. It had good detailing introducing Kinley and Gage, then the situation before throwing the danger in. There is really good buy in to the story and characters.
I thought it was sweet that Gage already called Kinley by Kins from the very start. She was so introverted and admitted to herself that she just didn’t know how to interact. Kinley was amazing in her strength. The story didn’t pull any punches in how smart Kinley was about her situations or saving her from danger at the last moment. I appreciated the reality of everything.
Virgina Rose did a great job bringing the story to life. She blended all of the voices together smoothly. She was able to voice Gage without being over the top. None of the male voices sounded girly. I could always tell who was talking. She was able to bring the tension and emotion forward when it was called for. I enjoyed listening to Ms. Rose narrator.
While this is part of a series, it is a stand alone. A lot of the guys names get thrown in at the start, but it’s not necessary to really pay attention to them. I do get a kick out of the cameo appearance by Tex in all of the books. Shielding Kinley doesn’t disappoint.
Wow! Awesome Story and Narrator! Audiobook Review
I am a huge fan of Susan Stoker and this book is another hit! I loved the way Kinley learned to open up and love after being with Gage and what a strong woman she was. I love Gage because he was so patient and loving with her. The other characters in the story were great too. This was an awesome story with lots of friendship, action and love! I can’t wait until the next book to hear Brain’s story and meet with these friends again! Virginia Rose’s narration was awesome! Her male voice is incredible! You would think that there is a male and female narrator reading the book. I would highly recommend this book!
It doesn’t matter if you have read any of the books in her series, they are stand alone. I love Lefty and Kinley’s story. It was a page turner and I really enjoyed how this was a little different than others.
New release from Susan Stoker!
More awesomeness from Susan Stoker!!
This is the 2nd installment of Susan Stoker’s Second Delta Force Team. This is the story story of Gage/Lefty and Kinley.
This story gripped me right from the beginning. It sucked me in and had me in the edge of my seat the entire time. This author kept me wanting more the entire way through this story. There are various characters from other series which are brought up and some even show up. Throughout the story I has gasps that Susan Stoker couldn’t have done that, some misty moments and even a couple of oh hell no she didn’ts. I laughed at parts too.
The ending, OoooooMmmmmmGggggg!!!! I was shocked, gripped, eager to find out how this author wrapped it all up in the neat tidy bow we love and adore. This ending was awesome!! I didn’t see it coming.
The epilogue for the next book…HOLY SCHNIKIES!!! I can NOT wait for Brain and Aspens book!!’
This narrator was good. I forgot Susan had gotten another narrator, but was pleasantly pleased with how well she did. This is my 2nd story with this narrator. I’d listen to more by her.
