He’d be a fool to fall for his long-legged, barefoot employee. But bad decisions have never stopped him before…Successful businessman and single father, Nate Crawford, doesn’t need any more complications. That’s why he’s moved his business – and his life – to a small beach town. He’s expecting sun, sea and tranquility, but what he gets is a whirlwind in the form of town sweetheart, Ally Sutton. sweetheart, Ally Sutton.
Ally’s used to dealing with heartache. But losing the café she’s owned for years is the final straw. Being offered a new job feels like a lifeline – that is until she meets her much-older, and impossibly handsome new boss.
In the space of a few weeks everything changes. And when an accident forces them closer, Nate and Ally can’t ignore the fascination between them any longer. But are they ready for the storm their relationship is about to unleash?
She’s Like the Wind is the second book in the Angel Sands series, set in a small beach town on the California coast. If you like a heartwarming read that’s low on angst and big on feels, this stand-alone romance is for you.

This series just gets better and better. I loved this book so much I didn’t want to put it down once I’d started it and I’d finished it in a day. I read it again on holiday by the pool because I couldn’t find anything on my kindle I could get into

I purchased a copy of the novel She’s Like The Wind: A Small Town Single Dad Love Story (Angel Sands Book 2) by Carrie Elks and this review was given freely.
A touching story containing a single parent finding love, the emotional turmoil of a teenage girl and the close supportive family of friends found in Angel Sands.
When the owner of the coffee chain Deja Brew and single father Nate Crawford suddenly buys Alley’s Sutton’s father’s Cafe and moves with his troubled 16 year old daughter Riley to Angel Sands, Alley thinks she has lost everything until a chance accident leaves her unable to run or stay in her apartment.

It was my first read by this author and I definitely want to read the other ones in this series! This one was a light, fun and sweet single dad book that will leave you swooning in the end and want to have a Nate of your own 🙂
Ally is doing whatever it takes to make sure her café is staying above ground but when she finds out it’s getting sold by her father, it leaves her devastated. After everything she’s been through, it’s hard to say goodbye to the one place that has always kept her grounded. When new owner Nate comes into town, he wants her to stay on and keep working in the newly renovated café but when an unfortunate event happens, she’s forced to take a step back and ends up staying at her boss’ home while she recuperates. The more time they spend together, the more they can’t seem to deny the attraction they have for one another. But with Nate being a single dad and also being Ally’s boss, it puts both in a difficult situation. Will they give in to their feelings?…
What a great book this was I loved it from beginning to the end storyline flowed so smoothly with amazing characters.

This book was so moving. I loved Ally and Nate and Riley. The age difference between Ally and Nate isn’t something that I would normally read but I loved them both! For Ally, being in the position of the girlfriend of a Dad with a grieving teen was putting the shoe on the other foot. Her experiences as a teen made her so careful in how she treated Riley. Great book, needed a tissue for this one. Looking forward to the next book in the series!
The book begins with endings. Nate Crawford ends his relationship with a woman who doesn’t understand that his sixteen-year-old daughter must be his priority. Ally learns that her father is selling the cafe she’s been managing for him out from under her. But then the book moves on to beginnings. Nate is the one who has bought the coffee shop, but he is going to turn it into the book’s version of Starbucks, a big-chain coffee house called Deja Brews. He still wants Ally to manage it; Ally feels betrayed by her father for selling the place, but she wants to work there despite this. Nate sees her as an attractive woman right away, but she takes a little longer to warm up to him. Ally and Riley, Nate’s daughter, strike up a friendship right away.
This is such a well-written, low-angst but emotional contemporary romance; it also looks at the meaning of family and the often difficult relationship dynamics within them, especially between fathers and daughters. Nate has a hard time relating to any female, especially his daughter. He often mentally repeats what a therapist’s advice before and when interacting with Riley in his head when he is with her. He’s a decent guy who can be a little clueless. Ally is so angry at about what has the family cafe, but she is determined to make the best of it. It takes a bit longer for her to be attracted to him, making this a slow-burn romance. But the author does an excellent job of showing the natural unfoldment of their relationship as their lives become more intertwined beyond work.
Taking place in a fictitious California beach town, this makes for a perfect summer read if you like slow burn romance with a side of intergenerational family angst.

This book is the second one is the Angel Sands Series and I couldn’t put it down and this slow burn, small town romance was an awesome read. I cant wait to dive into book #3 in this series and I highly recommend that you read them in order so you know who everyone is. This is a great beach you read and you will love this series.
Nate is a single father to Riley and they are both new in town after there lives have been flipped upside down after all what they have both been through.
Nate is such a great guy and thought a change of scenery would be great for his daughter and you cant help but love him, he’s loving, caring and very sweet and is a hot dad too who is great with Riley.
Ally has worked her butt of her whole life and has always put everyone and everything before herself. When her absent father sells the cafe that she has known since she was a child she cant believe it and is extremely hurt. When she gets offered her job back as the manager instead of the owner she doesn’t fell like she has a choice.
Nate and Ally are exactly what each other needs but I think that they are both scared and because of that it scared them both of a little. Neither of them expected to get what they arr getting and the feelings that are both overwhelming and strong.
I loved Nate and Ally and the way that this author has written them both was beautiful. We first met Ally from the first book and her and her friends are back to warm our hearts. Ally has a great relationship with Riley and I loved that she could get on her level even after everything. I loved catching up with the old characters from the small town too and this story completely flows perfectly and this authors writing style is beautiful. I cant get enough of this little town Angel Sands and I look forward to reading the third in this series.

I can feel the breeze and smell the water from the beach! Nate Crawford, single parent to a teenage daughter, Riley. Nuff said. Stephanie, girlfriend putting pressure on Nate to put her first. Can you see it coming? Nate moves to Angel Sands where he’s opening a new café and wants a better life for Riley. He bought Ally’s Dad’s place and keeping her on as manager. Ally sympathetic to Riley who bonds. Ally got hurt and stays with Nate and Riley until she gets off crutches. Ally and Nate become friends and a little more. Will Nate and Riley make it through teenage angst? Will Ally let herself be vulnerable? Can Nate recognize the real deal? Sweet story taking place at the beach. Nice summer read, and good for winter also. Characters are fun and delightful. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
This is a wonderful small town series and I enjoyed reading Ally and Nate’s story. The story was well written and had a lot of chemistry. I can’t wait to read the next one in the series.
This was a sweet romance. Loved this insta-love between Nate and Ally and all the family drama thrown in. A great story!!
Favorite Quotes:
“If I kiss you will you shut up?” Ally’s mouth dropped open and she stared at him with those big blues. “Probably not. But you should do it anyway.”
Gossip moved faster than the speed of light in Angel Sands… Having social media was pointless around here. By the time you opened your phone up to look, all the news was old.
My Review:
This engaging book had all the feels and a bit of everything including a fresh start for several, a new relationship for the main characters, sensual sizzle, loads family drama, small-town quirks, relatable characters, easy humor, and a mercurial and obnoxious teenager. And all of that was well packaged within several eventful yet easy to follow and entertaining storylines. I adored this couple and am eagerly looking forward to the next in the series, which was promised to arrive in a few months time.
This is a captivating small town romance story. It is full of emotions and romance. I like the strong yet vulnerable character. You have an older man, a younger woman, then throw in a teenage daughter and you have an intriguing story. The slow chemistry that builds into the spark of love between the 3 of them is an enjoyable read that will keep your interest until the very last page. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading the story of other friends in this small town. I received this book as a gift and voluntarily give this review
Ally and Nate’s story is wonderful one about redemption and mending bonds between father’s and their children.
There’s a fair amount of heartache and angst but more than anything there’s love.
I especially liked the relationship between Ally and Nate’s daughter Riley.
If you love small town romances that give you all the feels then this is one book you don’t want to miss.
I can’t wait for the next book.
Loved reading allys story
This is a great story, told in both POV’s.
If you love small town romance with characters that are easy to connect to, then this book is for you.
This series of books make for great beach reads.
Can’t wait for the next one.

This book has everything I’ve come to love from Carrie Elks; swoon-worthy romance with a little bit of angst along the way, between characters that you want to know in a setting that pulls you right into the heart of the story and has you wanting to move there right now.
Second in the Angel Sands series, we spend more time with Ally who we met in Let Me Burn, trying to desperately keep her dad’s beach cafe afloat. Her dad takes the decision out of her hands and she struggles to come to terms with why he has done this to her… whilst also struggling to keep her thoughts about her new older boss in check.
There’s plenty of chemistry between these two, but more reasons for why they shouldn’t be together than that they should.
Nate comes as a package deal with a tricky teen in the form of Riley, who you quickly learn to like.
Carrie Elks always brings you quickly into her world with wonderful description, likeable characters and plenty of sizzle and this was no exception. Looking forward to more from the Angel Sands’ girls !!
She’s Like The Wind was an absolute breath of fresh air!
Set in Angel Sands, this story is everything that I love about small town romance, from the beautiful beach, to the vision in my head of the ocean, and to the friendly locals that all get along and look out for each other. Ally’s story was such a great read, so much so that it was extremely hard to put down. She’s been running her father’s beach cafe and trying to keep it afloat for a very long time after he took off and left her behind to go travel the world, when suddenly she finds out that he has sold the cafe without telling her she gets the shock of her life. Enter the new owner Nate Crawford and his teenage daughter Riley and it quickly becomes pretty clear that working together is going to be so hard for them to stay away from each other as the physical attraction between them is torturing them both not to act upon it. Ally’s at the edge of despair, she’s down and doesn’t know what to do, but when Nate comes along she finds that change is good sometimes and it brings her all the things that she’s been missing out on.
Nate is such a swoon worthy hero, he’s so gallant and chivalrous stepping up when Ally needs him to but no hero comes without flaws. Ally I love her for her strong personality and her caring nature. She is still a girl at heart that understands just what Riley is going through and you feel the connection that they both have with each other because of it.
Carrie Elks has written a wonderful story full of love and emotions, the book flowed so well with a story that I got utterly swept up in. Nate and Ally’s love story is one that is so very special that it’s one of my favorite books that i’ve read this year.
*I received an ARC for my honest review*
Let me start by saying, I love workplace romances!
Ally’s dad has owned a beach café for decades and it was practically Ally’s second home! She loved working there, even though it was a struggle to keep it afloat on her own. At 27 years old, she didn’t know any other way to go about her daily life but to be at the café day in and day out.
Enter Nate, business owner and the proud NEW owner of the beach café where Ally works. Aside from being a business owner, Nate is also a 39 year old single father to a 16 year old girl named Riley.
Nate converts the existing beach café into his own brand which is Deja Brew (love the name!) and keeps Ally on as a Manager.
Despite their age difference, they are attracted to each other and they justclick!
Attracted to the boss who also has a teenage daughter (who is trouble, by the way!) while trying to maintain a working relationship is a recipe for DISASTER! Or is it?!
Will Nate and Ally act on their mutual attraction? Will Riley stay out of trouble long enough for Nate to focus on anything but the trouble she’ll get into next?
