Trust is for suckers. Trusting her partner got her shot, and a person under her protection killed. But to find a missing teen and keep the job she loves, she’ll have to work with a man who challenges her convictions and tempts her heart.A teenage girl goes missing in Stonefield, North Carolina, and Agent Lily Blume from Damage Avert and Rescue Team is sent to secure the situation. Recovering from … sent to secure the situation. Recovering from a bullet wound and a betrayal by her ex-partner, Lily resists her boss’s order to team up with Dillon Hurst. When the local ex-soldier turns out to be the man she spent a steamy evening with two years ago, Lily tries to ignore the heat that flares between them. DART is her life, and no man will intrude and complicate it.
Dillon’s mission: get the family house squared away for his dad to move in, and get the hell out of Stonefield, a town filled with disturbing memories. Since being wrongfully discharged from an elite military unit, he plans to use his specialized skills to work alone. When the one friend he can’t refuse asks him to assist a field agent, Dillon is pleasantly surprised to cross paths with Lily again. Unlike most of his hot encounters, he’s never forgotten her.
Convinced that a corpse found in a car trunk is related to the absent teen, Lily investigates the murder. Dillon joins her, and the more time he spends with Lily, the more he wants her. As Dillon delves into secrets from his past, Lily works to move beyond betrayal, and the clock ticks down on their search for the missing girl as they find themselves in the sights of a killer.

(3.5) New author for me, Book 1 in a new series. I had a hard time with the acronym, but that’s on me. Lily , the main member of DART seemed a little young as I read her, but I grew to like her. IT was almost as if the author was getting to know her, and as she did, Lily was fleshed out. Dillon, was a definite hunk, and when they hit the sheets they steam them up. I got lost with some of the characters, but the suspense and the story was enough to grab book 2. Thank you for the ac Naomi Bellina and Booksprout. All thoughts and opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Both our hero and heroine have trust issues and swear they will not work with partners ever again. Of course, they are immediately paired to work on a missing teen case.
I found this to be a good example of a romantic suspense story. The story is well written and provides plenty of solid action that keeps things moving and interesting. The characters are also well developed, with depth to them and certainly flaws as well. The chemistry between them is good and we do get some steamy scenes, which just adds a bit of spice to the mix. Overall, I found the story to be very engaging and enjoyable.
Highly recommended.

This is my first time reading this author and this book is full of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. It’s a great thriller mystery read with a touch of romance. A really great read.

Lily is an Agent of DART sent on a mission for a high profile client whose daughter is missing. Dillion is a former military man who wants to be left alone. Sparks fly between the pair when they are reunited for this mission. This is an exciting book full of suspense and crazy twists that will keep you guessing. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
I was gifted an ARC in return of an honest review.
Trust issues abound here in this story. Between the inter-agency animosity, Lily’s history, Dillon’s past, and everyone else involved it’s difficult to see beyond the neon signs regarding trust and the lack of it to the romance or the case itself. I feel that the case gets a bit lost and muddied when the relationship is in the driver’s seat and when the case takes its turn the relationship gets obscured. It’s not the interplay that builds and enhances one another, rather it’s a jockeying of position that gives neither their due. Lily’s insecurities drive her from the start and I don’t think they really calmed or were soothed by the end. The case itself seemed to be a bit of a throw-away, more so Lily had a way to meet Dillon and sort through her own issues rather than a way to showcase her strength and intelligence. Overall the story wasn’t bad, it was just not as well-rounded as I hoped.
The book has a HEA and a lot of suspense as well as good characters and a good plot.
Love the intensity and heat the writer has injected into this story.
