She begged God to rescue her. He said, “Go.” So she headed out into the blizzard. In a car that wasn’t exactly hers, with a dog who wasn’t exactly a rat terrier, she drove. Until she ran out of gas in the small Maine town of Mattawooptock. Mattawoopwhat? What on earth is God thinking? But it is there, in a weird little bathroom in a weird little church in a weird little town that Maggie Hansen … finds herself. And as God would have it, she finds a lot more than that.

Great book, hard to put it down!
I really enjoyed it. It was not what one thinks about homeless people. And it was a good love story without the sex. I don’t like explicit sex. Real love is more than sex. This story was great! Elinore.
I have never thought what it would be like to live in a shelter. I loved this book, it inspired me to want to give things to a shelter near me. And postpone even give some of my time there to help out.
A very heart warming story that shows the good in people no matter what they do in life.
Beautiful story! A wonderful read from beginning to end, complete with faith, hope, and romance too.
Makes you realize how fast you can lose the life and things you have and have to start from scratch.
The end of the book with the solution for the young lady to do what she had been doing for the other homeless people, was good. She didn’t seem like she would just move on from them because she got a chance to leave the homeless shelter.
She drove into a blizzard and ended up in a small town in Maine. A lot of twists, action packed at times and finally a happy ending.
Enjoyed it, made thankful for my life!
Nice story, a change from the usual. Story took place in a homeless shelter instead of in a bakery or B and B but still kept my interest. I enjoyed this light reading story.
I like this book! It makes the hard life of the homeless more real and shines a light on the needs of the people. The characters are hard to forget. Ordered the next two books in series after reading in order to learn more about these characters.
Wish it was a series.
Shelter (Shelter, #1) was another great read by Robin Merrill. Maggie was begging God to rescue her from the situation that she was in. God told her to “Go” so she left in the middle of a blizzard, with her dog and a car that wasn’t exactly hers. Unfortunately she ran out of gas in a small town in Maine. She finds that this is the town that God meant for her to go to, she found shelter and so much more. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more by Robin Merrill.
I had a difficult time getting into the story.
Enjoyed meeting the odd and interesting characters that fill a church property that has become a living area, refugee, support center for a variety of homeless people. Can see this being a series as other characters back story was introduced. Tied up a bit too neatly but still a wonderful read.
reading it was like making friends and spending time with them I really want to visit with them again soon.
This was a cute, quick story. It was an easy read and kept moving. There was not much depth to the characters.
Interesting story of a woman who finds herself, while in a homeless shelter.
Liked the premise of the story. The writing of some of the dialogs and the supense was a little lacking. I wouldn’t read it again or recommend it as a great page turner. However, it was sweet & I did like some of the characters.
This book was a real page turner , and the ability of the author to continue to be unpredictable was really fascinating….The theme was exciting and a really great read….I enjoyed reading this exceptionaly entertaining novel …….Looking forward too more of this authors work……
