She begged God to rescue her. He said, “Go.” So she headed out into the blizzard. In a car that wasn’t exactly hers, with a dog who wasn’t exactly a rat terrier, she drove. Until she ran out of gas in the small Maine town of Mattawooptock. Mattawoopwhat? What on earth is God thinking? But it is there, in a weird little bathroom in a weird little church in a weird little town that Maggie Hansen … finds herself. And as God would have it, she finds a lot more than that.

This was a very original story. I enjoyed the characters. It’s a good Christian read.
This was a good Christian read. Often inspirational stories follow a pattern too closely, this one was interesting enough that I didn’t notice if it did or not. I will read more by this author.
Nice easy read although I was waiting for the unpredictable twist.
I got Sheltered as a free book here on Bookbub. Really enjoyed the characters and the story. Even though I’ve never been homeless, I’m active in a recovery ministry and could relate to the characters and their trials. This author hooks you in and makes you want to see the characters succeed. I have since purchased the next two in the series and finished reading the 2nd. Currently reading the 3rd.
A truly inspiring story
A young woman leaves her boyfriend and becomes homeless at church. She finds happines and falls in love. A christian novel, fun reading.
This was an odd book, that introduced unusual characters, and had them in very different setting…it took a while to get involved with the people and the deliberate pace of the story, but the author has created characters, very carefully and slowly, and they begin to grow and change and make you want to find out their next steps…
I liked so well I ordered the next book in the series
“Shelter” takes place in a homeless shelter that is attached to a church. As you might expect, there are some interesting characters and stories. It is an easy read and made me think.
It took a while for this author to fully develop the characters, and though they were not my favorite characters I’ve ever read about, I appreciated that the believers seemed to resonate the love of Christ in their own unique ways. They also seem to be believers who grasp that their main purpose in life is to lead others to the hope they’ve found in Christ.
Nice story about second chances for women who are trapped in relationships that are not healthy. It’s always good to read about a community Church shelter doing what God says, to love thy neighbor as thy self.
It’s amazing where God leads us, if we just ask Him.
Great story about building trust before love.
God-fearing graceful story of love and caring!
When I started this book I was kind of doubtful about liking it, but it turned out to be an enjoyable read.
A fine Christian story. Good characters that I liked to get to know. Good story. A nice, quick, satisfying read. A comfort read.
I did enjoy this story but found it somewhat underdeveloped. One doesn’t really get to know anyone that well, not even Galen and Maggie, whom the story revolves around. Her past is mostly a mystery. His is briefly mentioned. The Pastor one doesn’t get to know at all. I don’t really know what most of them even look like, apart from her being beautiful and him being handsome. Her ex seemed ominous for about 5 seconds then was forgotten. The arsonist – well, who knows. He could be anywhere. So while this story is clean and sweet, it feels lacking. I haven’t read this author before so I don’t know if this is usual for her books.
I really enjoyed this book. I cared about the characters, the storylines were very interesting, and I couldn’t always figure out what was going to happen next. After reading it I felt lifted up.
I enjoyed this book as a pleasure reading. Loved the no profanity but clean reading. It was what I like in choices and I would recommend it to others. Thank you.
Loved this Christian title,
