Welcome back to Virgin River with the books that started it all… For the second time in a year, a woman arrives in the small town of Virgin River trying to escape her past John “Preacher” Middleton is about to close the bar when a young woman and her three-year-old son come in out of the wet October night. A marine who has seen his share of pain, Preacher knows a crisis when he sees one–the … Preacher knows a crisis when he sees one–the woman is covered in bruises. He wants to protect them, and to punish whoever did this, but he knows immediately that this is more than just instinct. Paige Lassiter has stirred up emotions in this gentle giant of a man–emotions that he has never allowed himself to feel.
Then Paige’s ex-husband turns up in Virgin River. And if there’s one thing the marines’ motto of Semper Fi–always faithful–has taught Preacher, it’s that some things are worth fighting for.

I think I enjoyed book two even more than the first one! Excellent!!
I really enjoyed Shelter Mountain. Paige’s story was heartbreaking. I loved that the reader still got perspective from Jack and Mel. Rick and Liz’s story was heartbreaking as well. However, with all the heartbreak there was a lot of joy and happiness. I also loved that season 2 of the Netflix series did not follow along with Shelter Mountain. …
A good and solid 4star rating. I really liked this book, better than the first one. As a fan of the Virgin River Netflix series, the differences between the show and the books is getting more and more different. After the first book, I liked the creative changes the show producers made, making the show’s first season better than the first book. …
Shelter Mountain by Robyn Carr is a delightful contemporary novel and the second book in the Virgin River series. It can be read as a stand-alone.
Once more the community of Virgin River pulls together to welcome a stranger and to help to bring healing and wholeness. The community has a strong sense of right and wrong, and will fight the …

Awesome book
This is my favorite book in this very popular series. Preacher is the sweetest hero. Wish they all could be like him. *Sigh*. I just read this again on KU and it brought back memories from reading it years ago. Good books age like fine wine and I love that! Happy reading.
Virgin River is a small town with a lot of interesting people. This book in the series is primarily about Page and Preacher, but there are a lot of subplots
After watching the Netflix series, I had to read the books. Though this book is mostly Paige’s and Preacher’s story, almost everyone in town makes an appearance. There are a lot of subplots, and a happily-ever-after for most of the characters. Virgin River is a small town with lots of interesting people.
Very addictive
Loved this one! A bad situation becomes a great love story.
I absolutely love this series. There are 17 books in it. Also Netflix has a show based on it called Virgin River. I advise you to read the book first.
I found the Virgin River Series after stumbling across the Netflix series. I love the Netflix series even though it is quite different than the book. So far anyway. I enjoyed book 1. I absolutely love Jack and Mel, so I had no issue with their story continuing. Actually, I’m glad they had a significant presence in Preacher and Paige’s story. …
4.5 Stars
I’m thinking that Carr’s books are a nice change from strictly romance-centered fiction. Her books are a great mixture of women’s fiction and romance. I find them highly enjoyable with wonderful characters and multiple compelling story arcs, but I definitely can’t read them back-to-back. A break between books is necessary for me, because …
I enjoy reading this book. I plan to read it again in the future. The characters are interesting.
Audiobook: Narrator – Therese Plummer
I really enjoy listening to this narrator. She does such an excellent job of not only the female characters, but the male as well. I know it’s all subjective to what each listener likes or dislikes, but her voice fits my ear quite nicely and I could listen to her all day. Add what is a performance, rather …
I really enjoy reading Robyn Carr books. I can easily get into the characters and plot. I read a lot but not for long continuious periods of time and I am able to put the book down for a bit and pick it up and still be able to follow the story.
Love this whole series!
Loved way Robin writes….engaging! Love all her books…
Virgin River is such a great place to visit! So many good friends!
