I’m working my way backwards with Kathy’s books. That being said, I can see how her writing has grown! This book is not bad, but it’s not great liker her newer stuff. This one was slow to work up to the little bit of suspense. The story line was good but it felt drawn out, there were too many fillers. I will of course finish the series because I am interested to see what happens with Adam and Erin, and get another glimpse into Luke and Shayne’s life.
4 Heart Warming Stars!!
Where do I start? This is Kathy Coopmans debut book. And, I am always nervous when reading any authors debut book. Simply because I don’t know what to expect from them. Honestly, Kathy surprised me. I really did like this book. Granted there was somethings I didn’t like. But, it really was a good story.
Seven years ago Shayne Andrews woke up to find out that Luke Schavone the love of her life left. Luke & his family left with nothing but a note that he left for her. Shayne was beside herself. Everywhere she looked she saw Luke. She talked her aunt into letting her move as far away as possible.
Seven years later and Shayne is back. Her aunt who was basically the only mother she ever had had died. Now, she’s back in the place she never wanted to come back too. Luckily, she has her cousin Adam who’s more like a brother for her. And, Bubba & his wife Jenn. The 3 of them really do love her and support her and all the decisions she’s made for herself.
Just when Shayne thinks she can come and go the ground she’s standing on crumbles right out from underneath her. Luke is back and has been back for the past 2yrs looking for her!
Shayne is instantly drawn to Luke. As well as him to her. They never stopped loving each other. Luke puts everything out there for Shayne. He tells her everything. Or so she thinks. Deep down in her gut she’s got this feeling he isn’t telling her everything. But, Shayne isn’t telling Luke everything as well. She has her own secret.
Luke & Shayne have to learn to forgive the other one. Both have bombshell secrets. Shayne’s secret once it’s out there it out. Luke on the other hand. He is trying to protect Shayne yet is only making it worse by keeping things.
I really did love Luke & his family. They really do love Shayne and truly feel guilty for the past 7 years. Erin is Shayne’s best friend. Her and her daughter Sienna I really liked too. Adam has always been Shayne’s confidant and he loves her just like a brother. I loved him. I’m stoked Adam & Erin’s story is next.
Shayne has been through a lot. And, she did it mostly alone. Better then I would of. She’s a very woman. Shayne handled things the best way she could. She did what was best for her and everyone involved. Luke had a bad hand dealt to him as well. Ended up missing out on a lot due to things out of his control. But, he stepped up like a man. Took it like a man & he melted my heart into a thousand pieces
After 7 years of torture for both Shayne & Luke they forgave each other too easy for me! But, their love for each other was written all over their faces. Their chemistry was hot. And, I mean hot. I definitely teared up a bunch a times. I definitely liked this book.
