From Nora Roberts comes the #1 New York Times bestseller Shelter in Place (June 2018)–a powerful tale of heart, heroism…and propulsive suspense. It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at video game store tended to … together, and the manager at video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived.
The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever. In the years that followed, one would dedicate himself to a law enforcement career. Another would close herself off, trying to bury the memory of huddling in a ladies’ room, helplessly clutching her cell phone–until she finally found a way to pour her emotions into her art.
But one person wasn’t satisfied with the shockingly high death toll at the DownEast Mall. And as the survivors slowly heal, find shelter, and rebuild, they will discover that another conspirator is lying in wait–and this time, there might be nowhere safe to hide.

As with most Nora Roberts books, I couldn’t wait to read it.
Always enjoyable to find her new books
It was a very eye opening story about a serial killer. I enjoyed the book, but advise caution if this hits close to home for you. Kids die, very much brought to mind Stoneman Douglas high school shooting.
Kept me riveted to the pages ….
Great book for a weekend.
Like all Nora Roberts novels, this is very readable and entertaining with good characters and ending. However, I found that she took a little too long to tell the story and it got a bit boring half way through.
Loved it. Couldn’t put it down until I finished it. Nora we need more like this. Thanks for writing it!!
Fantastic Reads
This book was certainly not one of Miss Roberts best.
Why read this when we can see it played out too often on tv. Not my favorite of hers.
This was a really great book by Nora Roberts. A book about things that are happening in our times right now. So glad I read it.
Not surprisingly for Nora Roberts, this book was amazing. The characters were so realistic it almost seemed like I was reading nonfiction. There were some predictable parts but it didn’t hurt the flow of the story at all. I laughed, cried and fell in love with the characters. Thank you, Nora. I was not disappointed!
This book really makes you think about how fast life can change and
looks into the affect of a tragedy and how different people cope.
Loved this book! I really enjoy everything by this author!
Well written characters
If you want a great page-turner, read Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts. The characters from page 1 came alive for me and I honestly could not stop reading this book. It’s entertaining with characters that could be my friends, who I could actually know. But then the Psychopath who is the thread of ‘crazy’ throughout this great book, keeps everything rolling cruelly fast. I will definitely recommend this book along to family and friends! It’s great!
Could not put this book down. Grabs you and holds you even after you’ve finished it.
One of the authors best. Hard to put down.
It kept you on the edge of your seat throughout.
Classic Nora Roberts
She combines the utterly tragic with a great romance. Throw on those moments of laugh out loud and you’ve got a great book. I couldn’t put it down. I absolutely loved these characters.
Nora Roberts has been a favorite of mine since the 80s. Everything I’ve read of hers is a page-turning, great read.
If you like an easy read and enjoy Nora Roberts, you will enjoy this one. It was a little off for me just because of the similar violence we are experiencing in our world right now. Nora Roberts is always an easy read that keeps you turning the pages.
