An outstanding cozy!
I read this without having read book 1, because it was mentioned you can read the installments as standalones. And that wasn’t a problem! It stands on its own just fine. But I AM going to read book 1 soon, because I loved this book so much I just want more!
Like I said: I loved it! It was a great story. I loved how the story starts and ends with an alpaca’s POV. That was so cute! The rest of the story is from June’s perspective. The whole story was a good balance between cozy, mystery, fun, suspense. It was surprising! The writing style I thought was nice and fresh. Those alpaca chapters were really quite unique and make the book stand out IMO. Some humor added here and there to make it just lighthearted enough. It was well written, the conversations felt real, good flow, good pacing. This won’t be the last book I read by this new-to-me author!
I was given this book for an honest review. I have loved all the stories I have read by Jenna Lynn Badger about the campground with the RVs but mainly the alpacas. This time Prince Albert saves the day. He is in the barn with Kurt about to be sheared and Prince Albert is not happy about it, but then someone comes in and beats up on Kurt who has been drinking and Prince Albert doesn’t like the smell and doesn’t like that he can’t get Kurt up, so he goes to the caretaker of the camp June Winters. When she opens the door he comes in. Then her cat attacks him, so June has to get the cat off. It is obvious that Prince Albert wants June to follow him, so she does. From this point to the end the story is told by June Winters. When she gets to the barn Kurt is dead. She sees a piece of paper sticking out of his pants and gets it without putting her fingerprints on it. It is torn and doesn’t make sense so she puts it back in his pocket. The rest of the book is June trying to find out who killed Kurt. This is a great story, wonderful plot and great characters, humans and an alpaca. I think everyone would love this book.
Shear Terror: A Camping Capers Cozy Mystery is the second book in the Alpaca My Bags series by Jenna Lee Badgers.
This takes place a few weeks after Herd is the Word and June has been the camp host for just a few weeks.
I like how this book also starts with Prince Albert’s point of view.
While investigating a death at the camp, June gets to know more about her neighbors and we learn more about June’s past. I suspected early on who had committed the crime, but the ending was a surprise.
I look forward to reading about June’s next adventure.
I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I absolutely love this book! It is a great fast-paced read with a wonderful story. I love the characters, though I have to say that Prince Albert is my absolute favorite. The characters are very realistic and the story was well written and just flowed. I really felt as if I was in the story, I was so immersed in it. I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion. Don’t miss this story or the series!
What a fantastic story! This is a fun cozy mystery set in a remote campground that is also home to an alpaca herd. Prince Albert is the only male and he has beautiful white fur. There is also a pen full of females. When the caretaker of the alpacas is found dead, June, the camp host, goes into sleuthing mode. So many possibilities of who did it but June is determined to get it right. A light and fun read with quirky characters. Great information on alpacas too! A delightful story!
I received an advance copy of this book from the author, however, I voluntarily wrote an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.
I’m enjoying this series, which is set in a campground with a resident alpaca herd. The alpaca’s caretaker is found dead in the barn and June finds more clues than the sheriff! This is a delightful who-done-it, with a nice twisty plot and quirky characters. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to future installments. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
Purchased this book through KU and very glad I did. Prince Albert is a most amazing animal. Love the way he is depicted and how he struggles with the humans and their odd ways. He is in fact the hero in this story. June is just beginning to understand that Prince Albert is more than just an adorable alpaca, he has intelligence and determination. Loved the story and this series is fun to read and get away for a short vacation at the campground. Try this series, each book is better than the one before.
” Shear Terror – – A Camping Capers Cozy Mystery- Alpaca My Bags Book Two“ by Jenna Lynn Badger is a tale of one June Winters …Camp Host of Castle Creek Campground..In Southern Utah…It wasn’t even Summer yet…and already unbeknownst to the tranquil campers…things were heating up. It was “The Season of Secrets”…many of whom would shortly come to light …in most unsettling ways….and as it turned out …almost everyone …had one or two…even June herself. Naturally it began with Prince Albert…and HIS Secret was TERRIFYING…and He couldn’t even share it properly …although He immediately endeavored to do so….and to the most logical person He could think of. THIS …of course…set off a series of events…that uncovered all the rest. Mr. Bigglesworth sensed instantly …the import of the tidings and without even hearing the “entire message”…..responded with uncharacteristic fervor….in fact it was the most she had done all week….BUT then again ..pent-up energy has that effect. To be truthful…the entire campground was unwittingly on pins and needles …and all it took to unleash the hidden turmoil …was a spark. This arrived in the untimely demise of one of the most important …if one inquired of the Alpacas…Bipeds of the camp. This WAS serious stuff. Of the HIGHEST importance! And no matter how carefully crafted…how deeply hidden…how buried they were …how coded the clues…the secrets ALL were revealed …NO one was immune …until ALL was laid bare. And when the smoke cleared…everyone’s conscience was clear…OK…clearer…and Prince Albert …Well …let’s just say…HE was handsomely …um….rewarded! Read and see. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.
Awww! Love alpacas!
I’ve read all of the books in this series thus far and they definitely will provide some giggles, a little suspense, some interesting human and animal relationships, and a unique setting in the remote campground. Prince Albert is my favorite…that guy is a hoot! Highly recommend for an easy read!
Thank you to the author Jenna Lynn Badger and publisher for allowing me to read an advanced reader copy, Shear Terror. I’m so in love with this series. I love alpacas. Prince Albert is such a delight. Yes, he has helped with the murders.
The campground host woke up one morning to a knock on her camper door. To her surprise there stood Prince Albert. How did he get out of his pen and why did he come to her camper?
This is a clean mystery that any age group can read.
Are you curious how and why Prince Albert showed up at camper door of camp host June Winters?
Read about the murder, June Winters, and Prince Albert. You won’t regret it.
In general this series has been great fun to read, very enjoyable and this one is the best of the bunch so far. Can’t wait to read more!
What a fun book to read! Second in the series. Great Characters and love the alpacas. So not the usual dog or cat animal characters As others have said you don’t need to have read book 1 but please do if you haven’t already.
Prince Albert Saves The Day
This book is the second in a series. The action takes place at a campground that is situated on farmland that also raise alpacas. The people and alpacas interact a lot. This is a fun story that introduces us to many fun residents and some real characters. The plot is good and the action is fast. I received this book from the author for free and this is my honest review.
