One of the most wonderful things about walking with God is that we can have an intimate and real relationship with him. He wants us to know him so well that we are comfortable talking to him about anything and everything. Yet, there are times when we feel disconnected and insecure. We desire to grow in prayer, but we don’t know where to begin, what to say, or how to listen for his voice. In She … voice.
In She Prays, Debbie Lindell invites you on a 31-day journey to experience a confident and conversational relationship with your heavenly Father. She shows you how to replace the pressure to perform in prayer with a faith-filled expectation–trusting that God is delighted with every conversation and every word we whisper to him. Her desire is that your soul will be transformed as your confidence in prayer grows, and that your faith will be strengthened as you see God work through your prayers in ways you never imagined possible.

I loved She Prays by Debbie Lindell. It’s an enjoyable devotional-style book with a fresh approach to a topic about which volumes have been written.
Debbie Lindell is an engaging leader with a passion for helping us see the heart of God. She has an easy, conversational writing style. I suspect that a lot of Christians have a desire for personal intimacy with God, yet struggle with the prayer life that is so vital to that goal. And sometimes I feel that I have read more about prayer than actually spent time in praying.
What I like so much about She Prays is its focus on the naturalness and pure joy of simply talking to God in prayer, a God who initiates intimacy with us. It’s laid out in devotional style with 31 chapters, each ending with a guided thought/reflection time and space for journaling. The four main sections are …
She Prays with Understanding
She Prays with Knowledge
She Prays with Trust
She Prays with Power
One of my favorite chapters is in the first section, “A Curtain Torn.” The brief history of the temple curtain, torn apart at Jesus’ death, emphasizes how His sacrifice made it possible for us to pray anytime, anywhere.
She Prays is compelling and potentially life changing. I enjoyed reading it for the purpose of this review, but am eager to work my way through it slowly, applying fresh insight to my prayer life. This book would be a wonderful resource for new believers, a great gift – but mature Christians would also find it stimulating and encouraging.
Highly recommended.
I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
A wonderful devotional.I really enjoyed this prayer devotional by the pastor of a church I have attended in the past, Debbie Lindell. She has a good and easy to read writing style, and these devotions are short but still full of good “meat” to chew on. At the end of each day she has a prayer and a thought/question to answer, so perfect for daily prayer/journaling time. This would be great for teens and young women starting out on their prayer journey or new Christians. It’s also good reminders for those who have walked the faith road for a long time and maybe need a reminder about the importance of prayer. All in all, a solid devotional. Will be passing this on to one of my besties who is currently attending Debbie’s church.
I received this book from the publisher and was not required to post a positive review. All thoughts are my own.
The subtitle of this book says that it is a ’31-day journey to confident conversations with God’ but I will definitely be using it much more than that! In her new book author Debbie Lindell shares 31 short chapters to improve the prayer life of both new believers AND mature Christians. These chapters are divided into four sections: She Prays With Understanding; She Prays With Knowledge; She Prays With Trust; and She Prays With Power and in each chapter there are Bible scriptures, Lindell’s inspiring thoughts, and journal prompts to guide you as you write down your own thougths. Lindell’s words make you feel as though the two of you are engaged in a personal conversation and her encouraging thoughts will help people who want to deepen their relationship with God. On page 51, she reminds us that “In the same way as God never tires of the sun rising or setting, he never gets tired of your everyday conversations”. So many of us are afraid that we aren’t praying the correct way when we should fear that we aren’t praying enough!
I highly recommend She Prays and, even though I plan to use it as an added resource for my personal devotion time, I think that it would be an excellent book to use in a group setting.
I received a complimentary copy from Revell and was not required to post a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
She Prays is a powerful devotional that walks you through a 31 day faith strengthening journey, as you tune in to the voice of God and see his work through your prayers. This is a great devotional to gift to any woman you would like to encourage. I received an advanced copy of this book (thank you Revell publishers). Leaving a review was not a requirement of the publisher, and this review is solely my own opinion of my reading.
“She Prays” is a great 31 day devotional that uses each of those thirty one days to hit the reader right in the heart. Lindell shares her personal experiences, life lessons and daily encouragements to nudge the reader nearer to the heart of God. Prayer is often something people think has a specific script, but Lindell is here to tell you that isn’t the case.
Debbie is an author, pastor’s wife and creator of the Designed for Life Women’s Conferences. She has also written another book I have not read yet, called “She Believes.” Throughout personal narratives, real life examples of those who have dealt with a myriad of issues and basic reminders from Scripture, Lindell makes this devotional on prayer a welcome friend at the end of the day, or a fresh reminder first thing in the morning.
I resonated with many examples from Lindell’s ministry and life. She is open, honest and truthful with the reader. The devotionals are well written and detailed, while remaining thoughtful to wherever the reader may be in their walk with Christ.
This would be a great book to use in a small group or women’s group setting. There is enough ‘meat’ in each day’s devotional that you could expound on it and draw personal connections to the subjects referenced. This would make a lovely gift for women of all ages, as the topic of prayer is applicable to us all.
I was an early reader, thanks to Revell publishers. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a review.
