This is the 1st book I read by Carissa Ann Lynch. I wanted to like this story but I couldn’t connect or get into this story .
My Review
Never Have I ever read a book by Carissa ann Lynch and not been Totally wrapped up in the book her stories pull you in.. I read this book in 2 sittings it’s a fast read.
All small towns have secrets..
Some are more hidden deeper than others some are darker than others. things you don’t think are there. hidden deep below in the trunk. Just like family you can never tell whose dark secrets are gonna come to life..
Natalie was only 9 years old. The night Jenny’s murdered body was found in the field outside her house.. The whole town thought her family was the culprits…
Chrissy Cornwell, Goes to prison for 30 years for murder she committed or did she..
Now she’s being released because she’s done her time for this murder..
Natalie, Has moved home inherited the home farm where the Body was found.
Home Sweet Home.
Or is it.
Always Natalie wanted to write a book now getting together with Chrissy Cornwell after all these years wanting to get to the truth writing a book that’s the way she’s going to do it…
But the truth well that was a twist I Damn sure didn’t see coming.. This was definitely a good book as I said I read this in 2 sittings this was a fast read and I totally enjoyed it. Thank you Carissa ann Carissa Lynch ..
I love a good suspenseful thriller set in a small town, it gives off all the creepy feels and cannot trust anyone vibes! A young girl is found murdered in a field, 14 year old Chrissy confesses to the murder and is sentenced to prison. About 30 years later, Chrissy is set free. The small town is an uproar, they do not want her released except a Natalie. Natalie was 9 years old when she heard noise in her father’s field the night Jenny was murdered. Natalie also wondered what she heard and now as a writer she has an opportunity to find out with Chrissy’s help. Together they write a book. This is a suspenseful page turner! Thank you to Harper Collins, NetGalley, and the author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.
WHOAAA!!! Buckle up because you are in for one heck of a ride! From the opening page to the very last and all the pages in between! I was glued.
When Natalie was a child, a young girl’s body was found in a field, not just any field, her family’s farm. Jenny was a beautiful, young teenager, who would want her dead? Chrissy Cornwall, a teenager herself, is the opposite of Jenny, confesses to killing Jenny. Of course someone like Chrissy is surely capable of cold blooded murder…. isn’t she?
40 years later, Natalie is the last of her family, and again, living at her family’s farm house. This murder haunted her all her life, and it caused her family a lot of anguish through the years. When she hears Chrissy is released from prison and she and back to the town of Austin, Natalie again is drawn into the mystery of why one teenage girl would do the unthinkable to another teenage girl.
Set out to write a book from Chrissy’s perspective, who claims she is innocent, Natalie is thrust back into that time period that torn her own family apart. And ultimately question, is it better to leave family secrets buried?
This is the first novel I’ve read by Carissa, and it left me wanting more.
I would like to thank Netgalley, Harper CollinsUK and One More Chapter for an early copy in exchange for an honest review.
Quick read. Fast paced and exciting
You don’t want to put it down
A young girl, Natalie, witnesses the discovery of a body on her family’s farm. She has no idea how this event will frame the entire future of her and her family. A teenage girl named Chrissy who knew the victim is arrested for the crime and she soon confesses and is sentenced to life in prison. In the present timeframe, Natalie is now a fortyish woman living alone on her family’s farm, a failed writer working as a cashier to get by. She cannot believe the news spreading around town. Chrissy is not only being released from prison, but she’s returning to live in the same town where she’s a convicted murderer.
The people in town are understandably furious and waste no time in finding where Chrissy is living now and joining the media in harassing her day and night. Natalie can’t stop thinking how unlikely it was – a young girl killing so brazenly and dumping the body on someone’s farm. She writes a letter to Chrissy asking for her side of the story, not quite expecting to ever hear back. Imagine her surprise when Chrissy not only agrees to meet her, but asks her to write about her innocence.
Never quite knowing if Chrissy’s being truthful or feeding her a bunch of lies, Natalie nevertheless looks deeper into the information Chrissy provides, learning new revelations about the case and the ties between the teenagers involved. What had seemed so open and shut now causes her to question the past and her relationship with the family she no longer has. She wants the truth, but if Chrissy is proved innocent, that means the real killer is still out there and Natalie may be in more danger than she ever feared.
You won’t believe how this story unfolds, and you’ll find yourself racing to the end, just as obsessed as Natalie with discovering the truth behind all of the lies.
Engaging and Thrilling!
WooWee! Carissa Ann Lynch just took me on a spell binding, thrilling ride… And I enjoyed every single word of it! I’m not sure how she does it, but she lures you into the story, flawlessly.
She Lied She Died had me hooked! I devoured page after page. Having no idea what was going to happen. Once I THOUGHT I had it figured out, Carissa Ann Lynch comes in with the jaw dropping twists and turns.
Another FANTASTIC read!
You know how you get when you read a book and there’s this huge plot twist that totally throws a bomb into how you think the book is going to end or who you think did what? Well, this book throws a massive bomb that you NEVER see coming. A bomb that changes EVERYTHING.
Natalie Breyas was just nine years old when Jenny Juliott’s body is found in a field on her family farm. Her whole world changed after that. Even though people knew the body was dumped there, it didn’t stop people from treating her family as if they were lepers.
Even after fourteen year old Chrissy Cornwall confesses to the murder, Natalie’s life is never the same.
Years later after Natalie returns to the farm she learns that Chrissy got out on parole. Now she is claiming her innocence and that she was covering for someone else. Chrissy figures Natalie is the only person who can tell her truth, and she wants Natalie to write her story.
Chrissy’s confession never set right with Natalie, but can she be trusted? Is Chrissy telling the truth? Who would she have covered for and why?
Lies, secrets, and a jaw dropping ending makes this one unforgettable book!
Wow, mind blown is all I can say! I’ve been Ms. Lynch’s fan ever since she published her first book, but she really outdid herself with this one! From the opening scene and its gruesome discovery, I was riveted to my kindle. When the supposed perpetrator returns to a quiet town and claims her innocence, the protagonist Natalie is faced with a difficult choice: to discover the truth no matter what it may be or turn away from the past and try to forget how it affected her and her family. When she ultimately chooses the truth, she finds herself on a dangerous path that may very well lead to an unexpected and devastating ending.
The gloomy atmosphere of a small town was wonderfully set; the characters were all real and multidimensional; the plot is deliciously creepy and dark and the twist in the very end left me with my mouth open. I felt like I was watching the events unfold right in front of me, smell the decay, and sit face to a face with a possible murderer. “She Lied She Died” is an extremely powerful, haunting read that I couldn’t get enough of and which I’d highly recommend to all fans of the genre. I wish they made a movie or a Netflix series based on it – it’s that good!
This was a fast read and a real page turner and I loved it. The story is about Natalie, now a grown woman living in her childhood home, trying coming to terms with the horrific murder she witnessed as a child and the impact it had on her family. It was very interesting seeing layer by layer getting peeled away from the original murder case and finding out what really happened that night. And in the end it was so much more than what it appeared to be.
I was so excited to read this book and Carissa Lynch delivered a most amazing book
She is truly a brilliant write with a way of pulling you in
Twists and turns galore and wow what and ending
Definitely a 5 star must read

Natalie was 9-years-old when she was awakened to a commotion in the field on her family’s farm. It turned out that a young girl, Jenny Juliott had been brutally murdered and dumped in the field. Later, another young girl, Chrissy Cornwall, admitted to killing her and was sentenced to prison. Now, 30 years later, Chrissy has been paroled and has come back to this small town in Ohio. The residents and press are all over her and want to know why she has been released and why is she back here.
Natalie’s parents and older brother Jack had been close until this terrible occurrence. Some years later, her mother left her father who passed away afterward and her brother committed suicide. Now, Natalie owns the farm and lives there alone. Even after earning her college degree with a goal of becoming a writer, she has never published anything and now works as a cashier at Kmart. Natalie is very curious about what really happened and Chrissy has agreed to tell her the true story and Natalie wants to write a book about it. But the press and other townspeople want to know what their relationship is and why they are talking together.
As Natalie learns more things that happened in the past, she realizes that the truth has been closer than she thought. So many lies she had been told and when she uncovers the truth, she is shocked to the core…just as I was. I had no idea. The ending is really surprising so gear yourself up for it. Enjoy!
Copy provided by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
She Lied She Died is certainly filled with lots of twists and turns, this was my first book by this author I have read. I was very well written, kept you reading to see what was going to happen next. I certainly wasn’t expecting the outcome of the book. I would recommend it to others that enjoy this genre of book
I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions expressed here are my own.
I did not expect this book to pull me in the way it did. I didn’t put it down. It consumed me. There was a sense of urgency to get to the end. The pacing of the story is great. I was engaged the whole way through. It’s very well written. The characters were interesting and a bit sinister. I really liked Chrissy. I probably wasn’t supposed to but I hardly follow the rules. There is way more to her than people know. That ending….mind blown! I did not see that coming.
This is a highly enjoyable read and also the kind that will consume you. It’ll grab a hold of you and won’t let go even after you’ve finished. I enjoy this authors writing style and look forward to her next book! I give this 5 stars.
Wow! I am utterly blown away by this book. I was desperate for a read that I could completely immerse myself into, being bed bound with pregnancy, and this book beyond delivered. I was so caught up in the story and the brilliant level of detail that I finished it in one night!
Throughout this story, the brilliant level of detail has you jumping to conclusions, all of which will be wrong, and twisting your mind to try to figure out just has happened in this small town, and how many lives it will tear apart in the process. The story flows exceptionally well, filled with turns and excitement, whilst also remaining very realistic and true.
The level of detail in both the crime and characters really bring the story and the world to life. It is very easy to become part of the story and see yourself there, trying to figure out exactly what took place and when. You’ll find yourself liking people you thought you wouldn’t and hating others. From cover to cover, you will want to keep your mind sharp, a important little details crop up in the story, that you’ll notice later.
Overall, this is by far the best story I have read, in 2020, and it will take a lot to come close to beating it. It is written to perfection and flows so realistically that you will start to think it really happened. A definite must read!
5 stars and rightly so.
30 years ago Jenny was found murdered in a farmer’s field. Natalie was the daughter of the farmer.
Life was never the same for either family.
Chrissy aged 14 confesses to the murder and is now out of jail.
No one wants her back in town.
Chrissy says I was innocent and Natalie just wants the truth.
Be careful what you wish for.
Carissa Ann Lynch throws one great curveball for the reader.
I did not see that ending coming.
Although the book was short , I loved that aspect as you felt you yourself were racing to get the answers along with Natalie.
Add She Lied, She Died to your TBR pile and move it to the top of the pile.
Thanks to Net Galley and Harper Collins UK , One More Chapter for a twisted read . Off to check out more of Carissa’s books.
This book is so good. It was really hard to put down. Now, that I have turned to the last page and the mystery that has gripped me hard, has finally been revealed, I still sit here, in shock. I was so invested in this storyline; I am left with the same feelings experienced after watching the season finale of my favorite TV series. The characters will be missed. This, in my opinion is Author Lynch’s best book to date. A must read.
A special thank you to Netgalley for the early copy.
