Although this wasn’t my favourite from this author I still mostly enjoyed this book.
I would of loved it but Jase got on my nerves way too often with the way he handled some things, I get why but still… Hard to explain without spoiling.
He did redeem himself by the end.
The plot twist didn’t ensare me as much as other books by this author but I think that was more because I let my frustration with him damper my enjoyment.
Looking forward to diving into the next book.
As soon as she starts to think of him as more than a friend, he starts dating another woman.
Wow. Just wow. Molly and Jase want each other. He more than her, because she still got some worries about her latest husband who served with Jase and fell into a rabbit hole and got mentally instabile due to a head injury. But just when Molly is about to pick the pieces of her live back together another thread lurks around the corner. Very, solid and intense story I very much enjoyed reading
What I liked best about this book is the great characters and the sensitive treatment of their romance. Molly’s character has been developed since book one in the series so she has a lot of depth and the reader can understand her very well, and Jase is every woman’s dream. Even Carter’s character is so well developed since book one that you can’t help but feel sympathy for him. Carter was a good man who was irreparably damaged by a war injury and transformed into a broken, dangerous man through no fault of his own. It’s heartbreaking. The way that both Molly and Jase worked through their guilt and sorrow about Carter’s tragic death and their attraction to each other was very respectful. Good story. Includes violence like all of the books in this series. Read them in order for the most incite.
Edited to add: After having read all of the books in this series I have to say that, looking back, I really enjoyed it. I think you have to read the whole series in order to really appreciate each book and each character. The whole ensemble of characters is included significantly in every book so they are very cohesive. I have been on a romance kick for the past year and have read dozens of them. I was looking for something with more substance than the trite, banal, basic romance and I found it in this series. This is my first series from this author–her descriptions of dramatic scenes and development of her characters is excellent. Once I got over the degree of violence in these stories and knew what to expect I fully enjoyed them.
The 3rd story in the Crimson Point series and pub. in Jan. 2019, Kaylea Cross proves that great stories never go out of style. Jase and Molly’s story is one such story. Having feelings for Molly for many years, Jase steps in to help her after his best friend and Molly’s husband dies. But, unknown to them, Carter left lots of baggage that is coming for Molly. The drama, suspense and twists are there, but the feelings between Jase and Molly that leads to their HEA are what makes their story a page turner. **I was gifted “Shattered Vows” and leave my review based on my reading** 4.5 Stars!
(Many of my books have been lost for a long time and I am working to get back as many of them as possible.
I apologize to Kaylea Cross for not getting my review in when it was released)
Phew, what a rollercoaster of a read. So many tears, so much laughter, so much gooey happy feels! I knew I was going to love Molly’s story. Jase has been the stalwart rock for years, her husbands best friend, battalion brother and family.
His unrequited love for Molly has always sat on the back burner. Now with her separation, divorce and then death of her husband he finds he can no longer hold back. So much love in this story.
Molly Boyd is struggling to deal with her world falling apart and her unexpected pregnancy. On top of that, she realizes she has feelings for her ex-husbands best friend, Jace. Jace Weaver has been in love with Molly since her first saw her, but she chooses his best friend instead. He has stood by for years watching her be happy with his best friend. Now he is stepping up to help her during these trying times. While dealing with all these new feelings and new life a new threat appears from her ex’s past.
From the beginning of this series we knew Molly and Carter would have a tragic end. Molly has struggled to deal with Carter’s traumatic brain injury and increasingly erratic and dangerous behavior throughout the series. Divoce papers are filed but Molly instead finds herself a widow, with a baby on the way. I loved Molly. She had to deal with so much but dealt with it with dignity, grace, and determination. I admired the heck out of her for how she dealt with everything.
Jace has had feelings for Molly for years and has hidden it from her. Seeing him deal with his feelings and trying to talk to her about them in the beginning was heartbreaking. He was always there for Molly, even when it looked like she didn’t have the same feelings for him. Jace was dependable, steadfast, and protective. It took a while but once Molly realized that she takes a chance with her heart. This was a beautiful blend of romance and suspense. I can’t wait to see what will happen next in the series.
Been anxiously waiting for this book since I finished Buried Lies. This series really shouldn’t be read as stand alone, the characters intertwine, and the story continues into the next book.
This book tore me up, I was all sorts of a snotty mess. But the feels balanced out for me. The sadness of the PTSD and brain injury in our military is just shocking. Kaylea really made it understandable.
You must read this series! So WONDERFUL!!
Jase was amazing! I loved his protectiveness and his deep well of patience. And he was so full of surprises! His love of 40’s music and ballroom dancing-I was swooning! The depth of his love for Molly though…bittersweet yet very, very touching.
Molly was such a a pretty feisty character! I loved her resilience and her strength. She had a rough go, but managed to pick herself up, dust off, and move forward. She did hesitate a few times when she should have embraced the moment, but thankfully came to her senses!
Jase and Molly’s push and pull tugged my heartstrings! Jase had the worst luck when it came to timing, but I’ve got to give him credit, he was stubborn! Their attraction was loaded with stomach-curling tension and the sizzle was HOT!
And the suspense! Kaylea Cross can do suspense likes nobody’s business and here was no different. I was on the edge of my seat at times, hoping things would work in Molly’s favor all the way to the end!
Book three of the Crimson Point series, Shattered Vows is why I love romantic suspense! Jase and Molly’s story had a thrilling chase, a sweeping romance, and such awesome emotions, keeping me engaged from beginning to end!
From the very first meeting with Molly, Jace has been in love with her. Unfortunately she fell head over heels for his best friend Carter. Jace was the best man at their wedding and he promised Carter he would look after her if anything ever happened to him. He just didn’t expect what happened.
Carter has a traumatic brain injury, and he has been going through personality changes. Changes so drastic they caused the love to fade and fear to replace it. As a result they have been living apart and Molly has filed for divorce. When Carter strikes back physically, Jase comes to Molly’s rescue.
The fight with Jase has Carter driving off down a winding road in a blinding rainstorm. Carter loses control and goes off the cliff resulting in his death.
Carter’s team is with her through everything, the aftermath of his death brings to light things about the man no one knew. Jase however sticks the closest even though he is finding it hard to stay away.
Molly is approached by a man who says Carter owes him 120,000 dollars. Unbelieving and thankful Jase arrives which chases the man away.
Jase and the rest of the team step up to keep Molly safe, including a home Jase has remodeled with her in mind. Jace needs to stay away though, he can’t seem to be near her and not want her. It has to be her decision to be with him.
A touching, emotional, scary and romantic story that will have you turning the pages. I now have to go back and read the rest of this series, I loved everyone I met in this one.
4.5 Stars
Jase and Molly have captivated my interest from the very beginning of the Crimson Point series and their story of love, loss, and hope was completely captivating.
Shattered Vows is an angst ridden and emotional friends to lovers romance that is at times heartbreaking as this pair deal with guilt, pain, sadness and loss, but it’s also full of hope and love.
Although this title can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading the previous titles to be more aware of the back story and characters.
Jase is a loyal, loving friend which is why it’s so hard for him to deal with his feelings when it comes to Molly. He’s also incredibly playful, kind, supportive and charming, basically everything you want in an alpha hero.
Molly is strong, and resilient despite the tragedies of her past. She’s determined, and driven to not only survive but thrive, and she does it all with courage, poise and dignity.
These characters are complex and endearing and the plot is completely engaging and has left me incredibly eager for the next instalment in the Crimson Point series.
This book will shatter you!
Jase and Molly are probably the story you have been waiting for, much like myself. Jase and Molly met years ago but as soon as Molly met Carter, Jase fell into the background and hid his feelings towards Molly away from everyone. Now things have come to a head with Molly and Carter, and Jase steps in to protect her and look after her.
The anguish portrayed by both characters meant it felt as if I could literally feel them , that they were my own emotions. Your heart will be broken, mended and then rebroken while these two duck and dive their feelings and come to terms with what’s happened and how they’ll move forward
I would’ve said that Beckett and Noah were my favourites, but Aidan and Jase are vying for the top spot as well! I can’t wait for Aidan’s story as I think he will be a really funny character, which he has already revealed slightly in this book Bring on March
Molly Boyd’s entire world was turned upside down when her husband Carter suffered from a traumatic brain injury when deployed. As his personality turned out of control due to his injuries, Molly has had one constant in her life . . . her husband’s best friend, Jase Weaver.
Jase Weaver has been in love with Molly since the first time he saw her. When she chose his best friend, he stepped back and kept his feelings to himself . . .but he vowed he would always be there for Molly. As things for Molly go from bad to worse, Jase can no longer keep his feelings hidden.
Just when Molly thinks things can’t possibly get any worse than they already are, a new and deadly threat has her in its sights. Already confused about her feelings for Jase and conflicted with what her future should look like, Molly isn’t prepared for what is coming her way. But, now that Jase has finally let Molly knows how he feels, he’ll do anything to protect her, even if it costs him everything.
I was thrilled to get Molly and Jase’s story! I was left absolutely heartbroken for Molly at the end of Buried Lies and hoped that the author would give her the story she deserved . .. and Kaylea Cross certainly did!
Molly is such a phenomenal character. She’s been through so much as a military wife, but she’s tried to stay positive through the many ups and downs and tragic events life has thrown at her. She smart and capable and tries to see the good in everyone. The conflict she feels when dealing with her feelings for Jase shows just how deeply she loves and how loyal she is.
Jase is truly a sweetheart of a man. He’s put Molly first for years, even when she wasn’t his. Now that he has a chance to be with her, he won’t give it up easily and will tackle anything in his way from Molly’s own misgivings to flying bullets.
The author has also done a fantastic job of weaving the couples from the prior books into the story. While it can be read as a standalone, reading it as a series adds so much as these characters are family to one another and there are some overarching storylines that carry throughout.
Shattered Vows was beautiful and heartbreaking and uplifting all at once. It’s a truly amazing romance with suspense that will keep readers flipping page after page. Kaylea Cross also gives us a tease of what is to come next, and I’m crazy excited for Mac and Tiana! 5 stars!
Shattered Vows was my first read by Cross and I definitely enjoyed her writing, and am going to have to grab her other books. Shattered Vows is the third book in the series and while it can be read as a standalone, I can’t help but wonder if I had read the others if I would have been less confused in the beginning.
Molly is divorced a pregnant, however, the first chapter we get to see what her life is like before her ex-husbands death. I was intrigued as the scenes unfolded, but I was a little confused because there was no backstory initially. Once I got past the first chapter I really got sucked into the story. I was anxious to see what was going to happen and how all the secrets would unfold. Cross did something interesting with the split POV, it wasn’t simply Molly and Jase telling the story, but the other key characters had a few chapters to give us a glimpse into their minds. Normally I don’t care for this type of back and forth, but Cross really made it work in a seamless way that just added another level to the story.
From the beginning I was rooting for Jase and Molly to figure things out. There were moments I was so angry with both of them for wasting time, although if they didn’t waste any time what would be the point. Jase and Molly overcame so many obstacles in their lives and the reward was totally worth it! Shattered Vows was a great read and I definitely can’t wait to check out the other books in this series.

Kaylea Cross made this readers heart with Molly and Jase story. For years he has been in love with Molly but she was his best friends woman first. Everybody tried to help Carter but even in death he is putting her life in danger. All bets are off now and it is time to make all his dreams come true with Molly. I loved how much Kaylea Cross made these two with so much sexual tension but afraid to let go. It is so easy to see these two together yet their love is not easy. All in all readers will love Jase more when it comes to his Molly. Cannot wait to come back to Crimson Point to see who is next.
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
5 Fantastic Stars!
The anticipation leading up to Jase and Molly’s story has been insane!! If there is a couple who deserves a HEA, it is absolutely these two characters. Throughout this story we find out more about Molly and her relationships with Carter. We find out a lot more about Carter and some details of the months leading up to his death. And Jase, loving, attentive and protective Jase, we get to know him much better, as well as how intense his feelings really have been for years, when it comes to Molly! This story has it all, suspense, danger, love, laughs, some heat and whole lot of happiness! I am thrilled to see this couple finally get the happily ever after they deserve, while tying up some loose ends for Carter and Molly.

Shattered Vows is book 3 in the Crimson Point series. It’s honestly the ONE book I could not WAIT to read. I’ve been wanting to know Jase and Molly’s story from book one, and boy was this one worth the wait!
Molly & Jase have been friends forever, but she had no idea he’s loved her as more than a friend for all of this time. When her life unravels even further, thanks to her now dead ex-husband’s shady dealings, will she be able to let him in, or will she be too scared to grab her happily ever after?
While this book CAN be read as a standalone, their story really begins in book one, so if you really want the entire backstory and to be able to really understand where these two are coming from, you’ve got to read the books in order. With that said…I think they are all worth it!
NICUnurse’s Rating: While I anxiously anticipated this story, and I truly love both Molly and Jase, I felt like too many parts of Molly’s POV was out of character for the Molly we met and fell in love with in the first two books. Molly is a very strong female lead, and while I understand she’d been through a trauma, and there were pregnancy hormones to deal with, when it came to running to––and dealing with––her family, that wasn’t consistent with her character. Before this book, I could have definitely seen her struggling with stronger feelings––romantic feelings––for Jase and trying to get away from it all (him and the other drama). But it felt a little too obvious for her to run home. I always hate to give less than 5 stars to authors I love, and I do love reading Kaylea Cross books. But I have to give this one 4 stars because that detail just seemed…too easy. Any good hitman would have known ahead of time where she was from and anticipated that move. And I could see that Molly would have run…but more like somewhere new and secluded to really think things through.
All the negative aside, Shattered Vows is still a really well-written book that I’d absolutely recommend to any romantic suspense lovers out there. And I am very much anticipating the next book!
This is the book I’ve been waiting for since I started the Crimson Point series. There was so much build up for Molly’s book and Kaylea Cross did not disappoint. At all. There was drama, angst, danger and heartache and longing…
My heart just bled for Molly. But it ached for Jase too. For the secret he held in his heart. Molly suffered and survived so much, lost so much that I couldn’t help but root for her. She needed some peace and happiness. Not the mess that Carter left behind. Cue Jase’s instinct to protect. His need to keep the woman he loved safe from any danger.
One of my favorite things about this book was the flashbacks. The lost moments between Jase and Molly that only added to the longing. The anticipation had me on the edge of my kindle. Reading furiously to see what would happen for these two next. I could feel it coming. I knew when they finally gave in that it would be dynamite and I wasn’t let down. It was capital H-O-T. And who knew Jase had a that dirty mouth!
I will say, that while Shattered Vows is toted as a standalone, it would be much easier to follow if you have read the other titles in the series. But other than that Kaylea Cross delivered a one-two punch of romance and intensity. And that little breadcrumb of who the next book in the series will be about has me anxious to return to Crimson Point.
I have been waiting for Molly and Jason’s story for two books and Kaylea Cross has delivered a strong, beautiful story about unrequited love.
Jason has been in love with Molly for a long time but she was his best friend wife and had a lot of troubles to overcome, including the blessing of being pregnant.
In addition to all the trouble her deceased ex-husband left behind, a mafia debt collector is behind her to pay his debts.
Jason and her friends (who are all like a family) get together to help her and Molly is still fighting her feelings for him.
I am in love with this series and its characters. Kaylea Cross’s writing is so good and engaging. A very good book to read!
OMG, I LOVED this book. If I could give it a 10 star rating I would.
The story of Molly Boyd and Jase Weaver is one filled with heartaches, and sadness, but also with tender moments and hope.
Molly, now pregnant, is recovering from a tragedy and later threats , due to her deceased husband’s actions. A man who never recovered from the injuries while serving his country.
Jase has been in love with her from the moment he met her, but she chose his friend, Carter. Now, he’s her support and her rock.
But things get complicated when she is threatened.
It’s a story that will grab you from the start. At times your heart will hurt, and you will shed tears, while hoping that they get their HEA.
Aside from an engaging plot and complex characters, it’s also a story about the dangers that our brave men and women undergo in order to keep us safe so that we can continue to live as free citizens. Some troops return with physical, emotional, and psychological injuries. It is our duty , as a society , to help not only the injured, but also those who love and care for them.
Another winner by this very talented author. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. Hopefully Mac’s story.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
