The Roll Models Saga tells stories of individuals with disabilities with respect and realism, portraying dynamic and realistic characters complete with flaws and vulnerabilities, each navigating to fulfill their dreams and desires.
This is the first published book by D.A. Charles and she kicked it out of the park. This book is one everyone should read, the storyline is not what most people read but that’s exactly what makes it unique and perfect. When people try to overcome a change in their lives is difficult, add that a disability that turned it upside down not just for the person but for everyone involved around that person, their family. That change entails not only physical therapy but mental and emotional support as well. This book touches everything from someone that has been working with it all, so yes this story is as real as it can get. Find yourself immerse in the situation of people that have experienced and overcome all sort of circumstances. Give this book a go, a story like no other been told from the authors real life experience as she has dedicated years helping, with beautiful words, this is certainly a 5 star book everyone needs to read!

Reading Shattered is time worth spending…that feeling you get inside has been missing lately. Many of us know someone with a disability that involves physical limitations.Maybe we love someone who cannot walk and rolls forward in life instead. Have you ever thought about or experienced life as they live it? Shattered is NOT broken and Steven and Abby make me proud to be a health professional.
As a nursing student I lived in a house with four other nurses rent free and we took shifts taking care of a young man with MS. As a new graduate nurse, my very first job was on a neuro intensive care/spinal cord unit. This book has all the feels…..enjoy the ride.

This is definitely a story that I will highly recommend. I have been a huge fan of D.A. Charles writting for years and especially the original story. Now getting the more appreciated opportunity to read the published version is just amazing.
Shattered book #1 start really pulls you into details of how is truly all begins. We are getting into more details of Steven’s transitioning into the new phase of his life right after the tragic accident and how he learns not only to adapt but live! I really enjoyed also reading more of not only Stevens challenges and his mind into things but also now his only family left you truly stepped up. The family strength is something I know very personally how much that matters with anyone with a disability. Logan and Sophie characters show amazing strength and determination just as much as Stevens. Having myself a sibling how is for the rest of his life wheelchair, needs 24/7 care, and much more, the sacrifice anyone makes is big. But doing it with not a doubt of what needs to be done is truly in itself extraordinary. Steven knows this too and he wants to do the same back by being able to live independently eventually.
I can not wait to purchase a hard copy to have forever with my favorites. Looking forward to more books of The Roll Models Saga from amazing talented and true D.A. Charles.

5 BIG
This is the first book of D.A. Charles that I’ve had the pleasure to read & yes, it was an absolute pleasure to read.
The characters were well fleshed out, the world building was superb & the entire storyline had you quickly turning the page to find out what was coming next.
The characters were believable & quite “human” with their quirks, personalities & how they handled the ups & downs throughout the story.
I CAN! NOT! WAIT! for more Roll Models!!

Shattered by D.A. Charles follows Steven Maxwell on a journey from tragedy and despair to acceptance and independence. After losing his parents in an automobile accident that also paralyzed him, Steven must learn to adapt to the altered world he’s been thrust into, and to realize that this isn’t the end–it’s just a different path.
D.A Charles does an amazing job educating the reader on all aspects of living with a profound disability as Steven is learning them, and she provides an insider’s perspective of both the difficulties and the triumphs of living life in a wheelchair. You’ll fall in love with Steven as he goes through his early ups and downs, and cheer for him as he gains independence and confidence. A delightful read if you’re looking for an engaging story with well fleshed-out characters. It will inspire you to believe that anything is possible–you just might have to take a different path than you expected.

This is D.A. Charles first published work and she really hit the ground running. Her characters are realistic, and perfectly imperfect. You can’t help but to root for them. I am looking forward to reading future installments about these folks.

This is powerful story, this story is a journey through the lives of people so real, some you wish you could know, others you would need to smack. The characters are multi dimensional and the story line keeps you engaged. Shattered is a story that shows you that people with disabilities can live very fulfilled lives.
This is a 5 star read.
I recommend it to all.

I finished reading this book a few days ago, but I needed some time to process all the story and information.
I confess that the information regarding people with disabilities was very important, as I never had contact with anyone with Steven’s type of disability. I already ask for forgiveness in advance if my words are not adequate, but I really don’t know anything about people with disabilities. I live in Brazil, and unfortunately here there is still a lot of prejudice against people with disabilities.
Now regarding this story, I have to say that I just loved Steven, Sophie, Logan, Abby, Luke. The characters are wonderful.
Much of this first book in the series is about Steven and how he views his new life with a disability, having to adapt to this new reality and how people see him. It is a long way until he stops feeling inferior because of his disability and manages to overcome the adversities that come his way. Over time, we see how he managed to adapt successfully and became a great doctor in his field.
Abigail Harris has her whole life planned, but when she wakes up on Christmas morning and needs to be taken to the hospital, she discovers that her life will change dramatically. Logan is the one who sees Abby when she arrives at the hospital and does everything he can to find out what she has, and counts on Steven’s help to help her adapt to her new life. And the attraction that arose between them was very interesting to see, as it was a subtle and light thing.
I’m already looking forward to the next book in the series, to find out what’s going to happen to these wonderful characters.
I highly recommend the reading.
