I left home a proud, strong woman, determined and eager to support my country. But I came back a completely different person.I’m wounded, scarred, and nothing more than an empty shell. I’ve lost my ability to open up to those closest to me. Why? Because no one understands. No one knows the hell I’ve been through.Every time I close my eyes the nightmares are there, waiting, lurking in the shadows, … waiting, lurking in the shadows, ready to torment me further. My only escape is the sting of alcohol, the burn that numbs my pain. Everyone sees it as a weakness, calls it a coping mechanism. I call it survival.
I’m a lost cause…until I meet him—a Boston cop with demons of his own, who knows what it’s like to be haunted by his past. He understands my pain, knows all about the nightmares, and makes me feel less…alone.
But we are both broken, tainted by our pasts. How can we heal each other when we’re both shattered souls?

If you are looking for an everyday healing soldier book look elsewhere. This isn’t the same as you’re used to, then again nothing this author writes is the norm. This isn’t just about a military person with ptsd returning home to find love and heal. This is about so much more. The past and the present collide in this gut wrenching story about healing from the past and helping not only yourself but others to be more than their past. Yes it’ has a hea. Yes it is sexy and passionate. Yes it is hot as all get out, but why not, shattered folks need loving too. There’s a little lite weight bdsm, and a lot of teasing before the pleasing but why not. And while it may be instant attraction they put that to the side until help is sought and received.
The thing I love about this author is her characters are real and human and touchable. They are your neighbor and friend, co-worker or someone you come in contact with everyday. Her stories reach you in places that no others can as she brings to paper real issues and make it into something we can dive into with our entire being. It’s a way for us to see what lies within the shattered souls we meet everyday.
