The first time I saw Skull, he was standing atop a speeding motorcycle. The second time, he was putting his fist through my brother’s face. Now he’s everywhere I look. He’s making my life hell with his vulgar remarks and seductive lure, but it’s not my fault my brother joined The Border Lords, his rival crew. I keep my nose out of their business and my head in the books, yet he’s always there … provoking me. Dragging me into their conflict.Everyone in town knows you don’t mess with the Sons of Sinister, but no one ever told me what do when a Son of Sinister messes with me.

5 stars!! Another fantastic read for the year. I’m in love with this crew.
This is book one from the “Sons of Sinister” series. This can be read as a stand alone I am sure but I am super excited for the next book!!
This is essentially like a MC read but with a twist. Good girl with boy from wrong side of the tracks. It’s hot. It’s tragic. It’s beautiful.
This book was like a drug. I was addicted. I was entranced. I will say I have read a lot of good books this year and yeah I end up getting new book crush but I rarely find one that I will remember amongst the million I fall for. BUT something about Aiken light my fire. He is everything a woman wants in a book boyfriend. Omg I fell hard and he will be one that is hard to forget.
Everly is an amazing girl but she is locked in her own head. Her life turned upside down and sadly the girl has nobody to count on. She is invisible. And what drew me to her is I share a lot with this young girl. Maybe not as I have grew and came into my own but it was a similar way with a similar age gap. You never know how it feels until you are the one whispering “Nobody ever chooses me”. But once you have you will relate for life. I love the amount of pride and backbone she still had. That is also why I love the relationship between her and Aiken because that love built her up.
This book flowed effortlessly. It was like a tv show right in front of my eyes. I can’t give this book enough stars. The author set the bar high with this book, I can’t wait for Saint’s book.
**I received this book as an ARC (via giveaway) and in return gave my honest review**
I Was SHATTERED Slowly! Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
Shattered Skull is a story about a girl so broken from loss that that she struggles to get through each day. She finds some solace in the sexy biker. This story is completely going to shatter you and you certainly will not be the same. This is a story of two people trying to find their way and some happiness in a crazy mixed up world.
While reading I felt moments of crushing loss and moments of love. Fantastic start to a series.

A new generation of bikers emerges in romance and it is hot!
The Sons of Anarchy made biker gangs or “Motorcycle Clubs” hot. We all know that Harley Davidson Motorcycles are the gold standard and that is what they all ride. I hope I am not offending anyone here, but aside from Jax Teller, have you ever seen some of the actual guys in MC’s? The rest of the guys on SOA are not the handsome cover models that would be on the front of our romance novels.
I don’t know about you, but I have looked online for gifs and images of real Motorcycle Club members to put with my reviews and unless I searched on models posing as bikers I couldn’t use any of the real MC club members. I’m sure there are some good looking guys, but most seem to be older generation with a few extra pounds and scraggly beards. Don’t get me wrong though I still love those books and will read them any time! I love that culture and the author can put plenty of Jax Teller looking hotties in an MC with lots of muscles and Tattoos and I will love them.
However, this book is a new breed of motorcycle gang. They race the fast motorcycles (a.k.a. Crotch Rockets) illegally for money and like street gangs, and even some MC’s, some make and deal drugs for cash as well. There are a lot of you tube videos out there of these guys racing legally and illegally, as well as doing stunts on their bikes like the guys did in this book. These biker gangs seem every bit as prevalent as the MC kind with Harley’s, but just have a younger crowd.
The main gang is the Sons of Sinister and this story is about one of the members of the Sons named Aiken Cross or “Skull” to his friends. Aiken and his older brother Junior had a bad childhood and were used as punching bags for their drug addicted parents more often than not, until they ended up on the streets at a young age having to fend for themselves. Now Aiken lives in a house with the other members of the Sons and they race motorcycles and deal drugs to make money. Junior checks in every few days but doesn’t live with Skull.
One night at the races Skull sees a girl that is different than the rest. She is tiny with long dark hair and she obviously doesn’t belong, but he can’t look away. The more he looks the angrier he gets. She is obviously an innocent girl from a wealthy family just crossing over to the wrong side of the tracks to get some thrills and she doesn’t realize the danger she is in on this side of town. So he takes it upon himself to go over and warn her away.
What Aiken doesn’t realize is that Everly Hart has always been afraid of everything and has always been on the outside. But since she got to the races that night, she hasn’t been afraid or anxious, it is the first time she ever felt like she belonged and she felt free. So there was no way she wasn’t coming back. And that was the start of the contentious relationship between Aiken and Everly.
I really enjoyed this book because both Aiken and Everly had so much going on in their lives but they were jus drawn to each other. She was just about to turn eighteen and trying to finish her senior year in high school after a bunch of family turmoil. While Aiden was twenty-four and trying to make enough money to move out of the house and away from the drugs since he was now a “grown up”.
The romance between Everly and Aiken was both sweet and steamy. Aiken was both protective of her and possessive long before they were together which was so hot even if it wasn’t quite fair to her. Everly is a strong female character, sometimes a bit too strong for her own good. It is sometimes like she doesn’t know the right things to be anxious about.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I like Shattered Skull.
While Aiken, aka Skull, was clearly attracted to and intrigued by her, he treats her terribly one minute and then does something uncharacteristically thoughtful the next. Hot and cold and confused by his own feelings and actions.
Everly has had many changes in the past several months. Her father passed away. She returned to live with her self-absorbed and self-destructive mother. Her twin has become heavily involved with a drug dealing motorcycle club. She’s suffering from a near crippling anxiety disorder.
Evenly feels completely invisible to everyone around her but Bad-boy Aiken sees her.
This is no typical live story. This is hard times and bad choices, financial struggles and determination, denial and reality. Through it all emotions are all across the spectrum and words and actions are used to hurt and show compassion, friendship and love.
While I met the other members of Sons of Sinister, I did not feel the draw to continue reading the series.
The rollercoaster of feelings!
Every reaction I had while reading this book speaks volumes of how well written it was! I would be reading a paragraph and could feel my heart jumping out of my chest and lose my breath as if it was happening to me. Or all of the tearing of my heart as if I was the one who was breaking into pieces. It was enthralling, entertaining, with fantastic characters and well described scenes. 5 stars just isn’t enough!
This was such a good story I wish I could give it more than five stars. Everly and her parents get a divorce and Everly stays with her Dad and her twin brother moved with his mom, but tragedy strikes and Everly loses her Dad and has to move back with her mom and twin brother. Everly has always been seen through but never seen no one ever chooses her they always pick someone different her twin brother picks her friends over her, and her mama picks her boyfriend over her. Poor Everly shes had a really hard life since her daddy’s past away.
Aiken hates Everly from the get-go he can’t stand the way she looks but there’s something about her that he wants to protect, and soon attraction builds and a relationship blooms and omg I loved this book so much.
Let’s start off off by saying this was a brand new author for us and if I am being honest I started out thinking maybe that this was not my kind of read but, boy was I so wrong.
The story was filled with messed up and broken characters and some of their lives were messier than others one reeling from pain and loss and anxiety all the while feeling loss and broken and then you have the bad boy who straddles the line of no return but, deep down is a kind and caring soul with and overprotective nature.
This story was heart felt and emotional and one that had main characters that we easy to love and we loved getting to know the rest of the characters as well some deadly other teasers but, one thing for sure is they had each others backs .I loved the boys teasing of Aiken it lightened him up a bit as his temper was scary as hell
.
I loved the romance that developed between Everly and Aiken and how they were drawn to one another right from the moment they met and the push and pull between them. The emotional turmoil both seem to be going through was tense at times for Aiken he was struggling to do what he though best and Everly just struggling to keep her head above water on and emotional level .The story could have turned in a totally different direction had not Aiken not fallen for Everly and become so protective of her.
Overall we loved the story with its interesting characters. I loved that it was different from anything I had read before.I loved that two people found one another when they needed each other the most even if their journey was messy and bumpy it was theirs. We love Aiken and Everly’s chemistry even when they weren’t burning up they sheets the heat between them was always their. One of the best thing about this story is that we saw so much personal growth for both Aiken and Everly they both came a long way from what they were in the very beginning but, one thing for sure is Aiken will always be the bad boy at heart that screams “Danger Beware ” .
I am really looking forward to reading more of this series.
*First time reading author.
So the first thing I am going to say is, this book was an almost love, hate relationship for me. I had that feeling going in that it was going to be a complicated read for me, just because of some of the reviews I glanced over but I refused to let that deter me on reading it. So I jumped in because I love bully themes, complicated romance, and it sounded kind of like an mc book. So in I jumped.
The next thing I will say is I hate drug use in a book. There was some of that in there, and I didn’t see a trigger warning at all, for any triggers. And there are some triggers in this book. Not just drugs, but attempted rape, and family issues.
On to the characters. Tabatha brings fully developed characters forward although at some points I wanted to smack the crap out of Everly. She is seventeen and has some emotional issues that at some points makes her seem younger. Her family is useless and at this point in her life are mostly nonexistent which is where Aiken and his crew come in.
Aiken is a complicated character but not devious. He is just trying to protect his boys and keep money floating. He is what life has made him. He doesn’t do anything out of pure spite or anger. That is what makes him redeemable, likable, and in the end loveable.
So yes this book makes you hate certain parts of it, and love most of it. But that is what makes it a five star read! I am excited to see where the other characters take us.
After a traumatic event, Everly Hart moves back home to live with her mom and twin brother, Erik. Suffering from debilitating Anxiety she always felt alone. Moving to a new school…a new town, wasn’t helping either. She had to start over but when she bumps into Aiken “Skull” Cross, her life will never be the same. Can this bad boy help the good girl come out of her shell? He entered her life like a hurricane…one she isn’t sure she can tame. This is a wrong side of the tracks, bad boy romance. There may be a few harsher topics in here as this a more realistic bad boy group of guys from the sons of sinister that deal with gang type activities. I really wanted to like this but was having difficulty connecting with the main characters. There is a lot of back and forth not knowing what they want as she is 17 and he is early 20’s. Told in dual POV
Fabulous start to what is sure to be a great new series. The chemistry between Skull and Everly was very intense, it was almost radiating from the pages. I got so lost in the story that it was almost like I was right there with them. And it had plenty of twists so there was never a dull moment.
I wasn’t sure if i was in the mood for an MC and I’m a moody reader but at the end of the day it’s Tabatha Vargo book and i couldn’t wait to start Shattered Skull.
And oh my god my expectations were blown out of the water i absolutely loved this book it’s been a while for me with saying to myself just one more chapter and then again just one more chapter and i was so excited.
I love Everly and she was such a relatable character with her anxiety and basically just feeling invisible but i loved how we saw her grow throughout the whole book. Her story was sad and i shed a few tears for our Everly, she was just a beautiful and amazing character.
Now Aiken he is the bad boy that we all want knocking on our door but i loved how we got is hard exterior but then we also got him when he was at his most vulnerable. He also had a hard life and i loved what brought these two together.
In saying that i couldn’t believe what could tear these two apart and the secrets and events that happen in this book had me on the edge of the seat, i absolutely loved this story and i love Tabatha Vargos writing just had me hooked from the start.
If you looking for a biker book with a dirty main character and sweet and innocent heroine with storyline’s that get you sucked in then and shocks you.
Then this is book for you loved everything about to massive 5 stars for this book
I’m a big fan of mc romance and this one did not disappoint. It was thrilling, gritty, dirty, and angsty. I was in immersed in it from the very first page to the last. I’m ecstatic for the next books in the Sons of Sinister series.
Aiken aka Skull, a bad***, ***hole, sexy asf, dominant, tattooed man that makes me want to grab him from the pages and keep him all to myself. He’s more than what he let’s people see. He’s apart of some things that aren’t all legal but this club is his family. They have each others backs no matter what and that’s what’s important to him.
Everly struggles with social anxiety and panic attacks. She’s lost her father, her protector, the man that kept her together. Back with her mother and brother, she’s on her own finding her place and herself. Aiken on the surface isn’t supposed to be with the good girl. Their first encounters and impressions say that loud and clear. But we all need to take risks to learn from them, right?
I feel in love with this story. Definitely a must read!
My first book by this author and it hooked me from start to finish. A very well written storyline with great characters. The twists and turns that come are nothing short of a wild ride. Everly and Aiken sure got a story to tell. There’s angst, emotion, unpredictability, and so much more. This is a definite must read.
What a cracking new series by this author and it really didnt disappoint. Who doesnt love an Alpha who is a softie at heart and one that just happens to ride a motorbike. This story is jam packed full of action, it has a brilliant storyline one that gives you all the feels. There is intense chemistry between Everly and Skull plus he is very very protective of her even though he tries to distance himself from her. Everly has been through the mill and its heartbreaking what she has endured. She is a fighter and a very strong willed young lady and she fits Skull perfectly. We do encounter a twist one that I guessed and I did wonder how the author was gonna play it out and I’m pleased she went in the direction she did as it fit the story perfectly. I’m so exited for this series and I cant wait to read the other books.
Shattered Skull (Sons of Sinister #1) by Tabatha Vargo was a great 5 star read. I absolutely loved this book and I read it all in one sitting. I was pulled right in.
Everly’s life has been turned upside down. She has recently moved to live with her mother and twin brother after her father’s death. But she feels so alone, her brother is like a stranger and her mother is never around. A friend from school takes Everly to The Strip where she see’s Skull for the first time. He’s hot, dark and dangerous.
Skull is a member of The Sons of Sinister MC and had Everly’s number from the start, she didn’t belong at The Strip and he made sure she knew it. Everly started showing up at The Strip more and after parties. Things start to change even though Skull tries to be mean and push her away.
Everly is thrown for a loop when the one person who was supposed to be there for her and protect her, didn’t. When will she be the one chosen?
Overall I LOVED this read. There are so many twists and turns and my emotions were all over the place. The scene with her father’s urn about killed me, I was ugly crying. I think I fell for Skull right along with Everly, at first I thought he was nothing but a huge jerk. But he eventually shows her another side that no one else ever sees. Everly was great and I felt for this poor girl, I completely understood why she had anxiety, who wouldn’t in her shoes. Just when you think things are calming down and coming to an end another huge twist occurred and really threw me for a loop. If you’re looking for a great read, 1-click and get started now. I can’t wait to read more from this series. Thank you Tabatha Vargo for another great read.
This was really a 4 1/2 star book. A very gritty story with lots of action, danger, and above all, love. Aiken/Skull was gruff but a teddy bear deep down. Everly was a driven, determined woman to better her situation. Together, Aiken and Everly switched between defensive, tender, and hot. I loved the characters and found their world interesting. The story took a bit to get going but once it started rolling, it became a roller coaster of emotions: anger, disbelief, hurt, tears of sadness and joy, and love. I recommend this story and look forward to the next in the series.
I received a copy of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
I loved the start to this series. It’s not the typical type of MC book that I read. Yes they are a tight brotherhood and yes they may do whatever it takes (legal or otherwise), but they don’t ride Harley’s. Instead the Sons of Sinister ride Crotch Rockets which they illegally race on the weekends for cash as well as do stunts and tricks for the crowds. No one messes with the Sons Of Sinister on their turf, well if they have any sense they don’t.
The author has given us characters we can sink our teeth in. I fell in love with Everly. She is the new girl who comes from money (well did til her father passed away) who is shy and basically invisible to everyone around her – including her douche of a mother. She has always walked the straight line but now that her father is gone, she has no one in her corner – not even her twin brother and especially not her mom. My heart cried out for her and I just wanted to give her a big hug and let her know she wasn’t alone. As for Aiden “Skull” Cross, one of the Sons of Sinister, I had a love/hate relationship with him. He is a foul mouth, hard nosed, arrogant bully who I just wanted to slap – most of the time. Yet as he and Everly connected we see a side of Skull that even he didn’t know about – his protectiveness and softer side that only Everly can sense. A side he wants to ignore but as Everly gets more under his skin, will he be able to? She doesn’t fit in his world, she is an innocent that just doesn’t belong on his side of town. But can he stay away? As for Everly, the only time she feels any kind of peace and security is when Skull is around but she knows if she stays near, he’ll break her more than she already is.
I loved the storyline, the bad boy and the innocent, my only complaint would be that Everly is still a senior in high school when they meet, college great but high school with the mid twenties street racer was a little much. BUT that is strictly my opinion, it in No Way took away from the storyline. I enjoyed this thrilling ride and look forward to book 2 in the series.
Ohhhhh I like this one! I just love Aiken, he just, I have no words except when she’s finished with him to send him my way!!! I thoroughly enjoyed his story and could have quite happily stayed a lot longer with them. I did guess the twist but it was great fun seeing how it would come out in the story, I wasn’t disappointed! Highly recommended.
Shattered Skull is the first book in the Sons of Sinister series and the first book from this author that I have read. I am hooked on this series, and can’t wait for book two. I loved reading Aiken and Everly’s story. Theirs is a story of opposites, she is a shy person, where is not. I look forward to seeing what happens with the rest of the series.
Shattered Skull is a terrific read by new to me author, Tabatha Vargo. It is definitely dark and gritty, but also a fairly satisfying, enjoyable book with lots of drama. The characters are interesting and the storyline full-bodied. My only real wish for the story was a more in the future epilogue than what we get, but overall I loved the book. I can’t wait to see what is in store for the rest of the Sons in the coming books! 4 Stars!
