Jenny had a tuff story to tell. Her story is like so many out there. A story about being raped. Jenny’s strength and her character had to be rebuilt. It is Amazing how Brian and Jenny worked. Via did a wonderful job with a touchy subject matter. Loved seeing how this book ended!! You will too!!
Well written, action packed (in more ways than one) this book will grab your curiosity by the collar and take you on a ride you won’t want to stop. Recommended for women (Of course) and men too.
This book was fast paced.. I loved the beginning of the starting romance between Jenny and Brian. Jenny: a successful business Woman with her sites set high for achievment for herself and her family… Brian: a wealthy COO with his heart lead by one thing…
read Shattered to find out what it is that draws them together.. I did and loved it
This isn’t a genre that I would usually take interest in but after hearing good things of the author, I decided to dive in and oh goodness, am I glad I did. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well the story flowed, the character backgrounds were flawless and I read Shattered, book one in one night. I always enjoy diving into a book and feeling the emotions that the characters are feeling and though there are some really serious issues the main female character faces and deals with on a daily basis, I believe the author had amazing insight on how to write that into how her character was portrayed, how she acted and reacted in certain circumstances and how her emotions affected her daily life. I was very appreciative that the author included some background in the preface. It helped prepare me for what I was about to read. However, with everything that is in the book, I could not find one fault in the story line. Everything flowed very nicely and I cannot wait to jump into book 2, Bound.
In this book we get with Jenny and Brian, we finally start to see how Jenny was hurt, how she is handling it, with her friends help. You see how she finally meets Brian and fireworks starts but Jenny is taking things slowly at first.
Then in comes a villain, Ty who strikes terror, hatred and many feelings. Then a death happens, Jenny is blamed, and another catastrophe happens with several character’s lives.
Via Mari has written so much that you can’t wait to start reading and then drops a bombshell which you have to wait for the next book.
If you loved The Prestian series, The Torzial Affair will leave you just as breathless if not more.
after rereading it i felt like this book was written way to fast and its why im changing my review i couldnt finish the book the second time and sadly i feel bad about it but i dont reccoommed this book anymore i dont think i will reread this book again.
Shattered (The Torzial Affair)
By Via Mari
Shattered is book one in the, Torzial affair series by Via Mari. Having never read anything by this author before I was impressed with the writing style. This book is written in such a way it will pull you right into the story from the beginning. I was captivated by the end of the first chapter. This book centres around Jenny who has a successful consulting business. Jenny has been totally destroyed by her ex partner. Brian is the heir to a steel empire who comes across some what cocky. Until he met Jenny he was so sure all women wanted him for was his money. As soon as they met the chemistry between them was obvious. But now Jenny needs to learn to trust again and Brian needs to be less cocky and see Jenny as the awesome broken woman she is, and show her that love can be found again. But the question is have either of them got the heart to take that extra step to love, trust and a happy life?
What a fantastic novel i thoroughly enjoyed every second. The story is full of ups and downs it’s definitely not a easy ride but it’s also full of love, it most certainly played with my emotions that’s for sure. I must admit i got so engrossed i read it all in one sitting i just couldn’t put it down! I really can’t wait to read more and get stuck in absolutely amazing story.
Shattered is a part of the Torzial Affair three book series by Via Mari. I have loved Via Mari’s other stories so I knew I would like this story as well. One thing about Via Mari’s stories is that I am pulled into the stories just like I am part of family. There are some twists and turns that came out of nowhere. The story moves at a quick pace and I even started to yell at Jenny because of some of her dumb moves. The book is about Jenny and Brian and their relationship. They are both strong people who have some stressors and have built walls around themselves. Will Jenny and Brian make it, or will they have problems because of the past?
Shattered (The Torzial Affair Book 1) by Via Mari is a spinoff from the Prestian series which I enjoyed but this first book in the series is amazing. I suggest you start with the Prestian series before starting this series as the amazing characters and stories are intertwined. Via has excelled herself in this book. It was not what I expected, no, it was so much more. I loved every single minute of it and I couldn’t put it down and read it in one sitting. I was captivated, enthralled and so engrossed that by the time I had finished, I needed more. This story is an emotional rollercoaster ride of feelings that don’t let up. There were tears and tantrums, and laughter and that was just me.
Jenny’s life has been turned upside down. She has been left battered and shattered to her very soul. To the core of her being, her essence. Never in her life would she have thought that someone she loved would put her through the hell that she went through. It has left her wondering just who she is now and if she will ever be the same again.
Brian is a hot, sexy, Alpha male and a one and done man. He never lets anyone close. He never knows who wants him for him or for what he has. But he wants her. Just one night. Why is she getting under his skin? He knows something has happened but doesn’t know what. Why does he feel the need to protect her?
I can’t wait to read more from Via as she has now become one of my favourite authors.
Shattered The Torzial Affair Book 1 by VIA MARI
Four Stars
To learn to trust again is really difficult. After someone violates you in some form. Jenny is so brave. She didn’t give up. I’m excited to get into another series by this author. I like reading about the characters in the background of other books. Especially characters like Brian. The guy is a complete mystery. I really enjoyed this story and I know the next will be just as good. The characters do a lot of growing in this story. Even with all the tragedy and danger. You see them become better people and come out of their comfort zone.
Five words I would use to describe this book:
Layered
Complex
Sexy
Intriguing
Grandiose
SHATTERED is a spinoff of The Prestian Series and I enjoyed the continuing threads from the first series. I’m not sure I would have been as understanding of it and the complex world surrounding the main characters if I hadn’t read the first series.
The story is written in such a way that I found myself questioning what was going on. I started to side with outsiders for a few minutes because they made a great case (I know this doesn’t make sense, but you will understand it when you read the book). THAT IS THE SIGN OF A GOOD STORY… My wavering faith in the “truth” kept me turning the pages.
There are a lot of characters in this story, both main and secondary, and at times I had to remember who was who and who worked for which company. There is a briskness about the story that made it feel like it was constantly in motion. The story moved along in a way that the end always seemed just around the next corner. This story actually goes to unexpected places.
I look forward to reading the next story in this trilogy.
Shattered by Via Mari is the first book in the Torial Affair series which also a spin off of the Prestian Series. I highly recommend you read that series first though this can be read as a stand alone.
There is some overlap from the end of the first series time wise but it’s a very different story since we are following Jenny and Brian which I really enjoyed. I liked the different prospective and finding out more details on the trauma Jenny endured and how Brian was involved with protecting her and more.
Jenny moved up my list of amazingly strong female characters quite a bit as I was reading all she has done and experienced at a very young age. After feeling like I knew her as Katerina’s best friend I got to know her as an individual and I’m so glad I did.
We start to see Brian’s carefully placed walls start to crumble the more he learns about Jenny. We also find out what makes him tick, his pain and happiness from childhood and how dominant he really is.
I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to get to the next one and see what happens.
Many reviews for this book said that the Prestian Series should be read first. I don’t always believe other people. This time I was right. This story can be read without the other series. However, will I go read it? Yes. Yes I will, but only because I like the way this author writes.
Shattered is about Brian and Jenny. I love the commonness of these names. I have read many books where the names are so far-fetched I often wondered if the author just threw letters together. Brian and Jenny meet at a wedding, this is where that other series comes into play. The bride and groom are the main characters from that series. But, again, you really don’t have to know their story. So, Brian and Jenny have an instant attraction and they actually start to act upon it but Jenny has a flash back and ends up running. We later discover why she ran and what was going through her mind. In fact, most of the story is about her healing and learning to trust Brian. Brian wants nothing more to show her new ways to trust him. Of course, it’s not going to be easy. What good relationship is all rainbows and glitter! Especially when the two in the relationship aren’t ready for one.
This book has situations that may cause triggers in some readers. However, it is a good story and while the ending isn’t the greatest, it does make me want to hurry up and one click the next book!
Shattered is the first book in the Torzial Affair series. It ends in a cliffhanger.
While this is the first book in this particular series, not having read the previous series (Prestian series), I felt like something was missing. The author does a good job of working in elements from events I assume are present in the previous series, so it isn’t like you can’t pick up what is going on; I just feel like it would have a more complete feel if I had more of a connection to the supporting characters. For anyone new to this author, I definitely suggest reading the other series first.
Shattered contains sensitive material that may trigger some readers. The author does have a preface in the book regarding this, which is very thoughtful. I liked that the author did not downplay the affects of Jenny’s hardship experience on her mental health.
This book was a quick read for me and overall was a good escape from reality for a bit.
Shattered is the first book in the Torzial Affair series by Via Mari and I absolutely loved it. This dark, gritty and sexy book is something I have been looking to read for some time. It’s a little Fifty Shades mixed with a dark mafia romance. Even if you have never read Via’s books before (like me); it was easy to understand what happened in the last series where you first met Jenny to now with her and Brian.
Via’s writing style will grip you, pull you in and having you begging for this next book. Everywhere you turned there was a twist or shocking information coming at you. Then you get some sexy, panty dropping scenes with just Jenny and Brian that will have you needing a very cold shower. I can’t wait to dive into Bound and see what is waiting for Jenny and Brian next.
Shattered is book one in the Torzial Affair by Via Mari. It feels like a lifetime since I have read a story by this author. It was well and truly worth the wait. It is like coming home to your favourite pair of slippers, warm, inviting, providing a comfort like no other. The story is not all warm and lighthearted. It is intense, dangerous, passionate and exciting.
Jenny has not had an easy run in life, lately. Meeting Brian was the right thing, just at the wrong time. She bares emotional scars that prevent her from truly letting go, which causes a hold to be put on her life and the happiness that goes with meeting your soulmate. Brian is being patient with her, which goes against everything that makes him the stubborn, dominant and beautiful male specimen that he is. They clash, and those battles are quite the spectacle. Brilliant minds going head to head is explosive. They certainly deliver non stop entertainment, passion and attitude. Entertainment overflowing with drama, danger and decadence. Shattered was an edge of your seat story, that excited and delighted. All brilliantly set out by a gifted and dedicated author. 5 stars.
Brian Carrington knows who Jenny Torzial is, but when he meets her in person for the first time, he is confident that the night will end with Jenny in his arms and under his control. Brian’s irresistible good looks and reputation for being the heir to the Carrington Steel empire are quickly thwarted by Jenny. Unlike the other women in Brian’s life, he can not get Jenny out of his mind. When he attends an event with the hopes of seeing Jenny again, he walks in on Jenny coming face-to-face with her past and Brian is thrust into the role of protector. It is under Brian’s care that Jenny begins to heal from the demons of her past, and begins to explore her true desires. Via Mari alternates chapters between the two main characters in this face paced story of dominance and submission, the dangers of high profile society, and giving the ultimate level of trust in another person.
Via Mari had me from the first chapter and left me craving more!
Shattered is the first book in the Torzial Affair series by author Via Mari. The Torzial series is a spin-off of the Prestian series by Ms. Mari and while it can be read as a standalone, I have to admit that I felt like I was tossed into the middle of a scene since I did not read the first series. This book follows Jenny Torzial, the owner of a successful consulting firm as she navigates her life following a devastating personal experience. Jenny meets Brian at her best friend’s wedding and feels a deep attraction to the mysterious stranger. Circumstances beyond their control continue to throw the two together and sinister characters want nothing more than to hurt Jenny but Jenny’s new love interest wants nothing more than to protect her.
There is so much that goes on in this story that at times it got confusing (I need to read the Prestial series) but as I continued reading, I got a better understanding of what had happened to the characters in the previous series. I liked Jenny and Brian together and I especially liked the way the author didn’t write Jenny’s character as being weak or whiny. Jenny was dealing with a lot yet still managed to have a backbone, these are my favorite type of characters and I will be reading the next book just to see how Jenny grows.

If you read Kate and Chase’s Story, The Prestian Series. Well welcome to Jenny and Brian’s story, The Torzial Series. Written by the same great author,Via Mari. This book is just as intense. Fast paced and non stop action. I love that she continued with the characters from the first series. They are just as intriguing and just as strong. And just as hot in the romance department. I am looking forward to see where this Series goes. Well Done Via Mari!!!
