Bernard Cornwell’s action-packed series that captures the gritty texture of Napoleonic warfare–now beautifully repackagedIt’s 1809, and Napoleon’s army is sweeping across Spain. Lieutenant Richard Sharpe is newly in command of the demoralized, distrustful men of the 95th Rifles. He must lead them to safety–and the only way of escape is a treacherous trek through the enemy-infested mountains of … enemy-infested mountains of Spain.

I throughly enjoyed all of Bernard Cornell’s books, but you should read the Sharp series in order. You will have trouble waiting to get into the next one. The author has written several series books that let you follow the real growth of characters. His research of real battles and his incorporation of them into the flow of the book is unsurpassed.
Historical drama at its best
Good for fans of historical fiction.
This is one of a series of books by Cornwell covering the period of the Napolionic
wars. It focuses on some of the lessor known aspects and geographic areas of the time. Cornwell is renown for his detailed research and creation of characters that suit the times and events of which he writes.
A simple search on his name will result in an amazing number of historical novel series form the Viking raids to our American Revolution.
Still a favorite.
The entire Sharpe’s series is great. If you are a Napoleonic buff you will love them. I have read the series twice.
I love all Cornwell’s books. I started off with Sharpe’s Tiger but each of his series are excellent. He is by far one of my favorite authors.
Good Picture of life during the Napoleonic Was
I enjoy history themed novels. The Richard Sharp character is an interesting hero and I have enjoyed a number of novels in this series.
Each of the books in this series are superb. Can be read in sequence (best), or any order. I would recommend them to anyone with a love of military historical fiction.
I think its very interesting. Sharpe made the rife and there are still making today. In fact there is a waiting list they cost about 4000 $ for one. If I win the lotto I will buy one
