Former teacher turned reporter Deena Sharpe craves adventure, but her new job offers little more than covering dull city council meetings in the small town of Maycroft, Texas. But when she follows a hunch to investigate a story lead, she finds a murdered woman and becomes suspect number one.
To make matters worse, a new psychic in town has residents on edge, especially her best friend Sandra. … friend Sandra. Strange happenings multiply almost as quickly as the list of murder suspects. Deena finds herself with more adventure than she had bargained for. Along with a fellow reporter and a defense attorney, Deena seeks to unveil the killer before anyone else gets hurt.

The prediction is murder!
Are the strange happenings caused by a spirit or someone more nefarious? The new psychic in Maycroft is the person people are going to for answers but not everyone believes the hype. Deena enjoys her job reporting for the newspaper, but her future may not be in journalism, especially when there are murders to solve.
This is a fun cozy series. Deena is a very relatable heroine; a bit of a clutz, spills food on her clothes, tends to stumble into trouble – totally delightful!
An interesting mystery where the protagonist is a middle-aged woman who is retired from her “normal” job. The plot involves two scam artists and a shady land developer. Sharpe finds the body and gets involved in solving the mystery. The language is witty, sometimes reminiscent of 1930s gangster movies.
This is book 3 in the Maycroft Mysteries series written by Lisa B. Thomas and narrated by Kelley Hazen.
Who knew a retired teacher turned reporter could find herself in the middle of so many sticky situations in such a small town. As she works to clear her name in the most recent murder, the list of suspects begins to grow…
If your looking for a humorous cozy mystery, without a doubt, this would be on my recommended list!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
Deena, a former teacher turned reporter, wants to do more than report on local council meetings. She wants to be a investigate crime. So she takes the initiative and checks into a real case where a woman was murdered. Then, Deena acts as a sleuth to find the killer. There are many suspects, yet not so many clues. This is a well written mystery with good characters.

Another OK book. It did have me guessing to the end. Characters were good.
This book was fun to read when I was tired and did not want to think anymore! I thought I knew who “done it” by at least the middle of thebook. I was right!
The book was well written and the characters were very believable. I enjoyed reading and want to read more from this author.
This was a fast read with great characters that you could get involved with and route for. It is one that you want to read more about what happens next.
Cozy, quick read.
I laughed out loud through out this book!! Great read.
I read the series with the exception of the first two. Like all series read them in order as they mention events in the past.
Engrossing. The kind of book you don’t want to put down until you’ve finished it.
Good characters and dialogue. Realistic pace.
A fun read. Looking forward to the next!
