From New York Times bestselling author Kathleen E. Woodiwiss comes one of her most iconic and beloved romances of all time… arranged union.
But in the fading echoes of hollow wedding vows, a solemn promise is broken, as a sensuous free spirit takes flight to a lush Caribbean paradise, abandoning the stranger she married to face the gallows unfulfilled.
Ruark Beauchamp’s destiny is now eternally intertwined with that of the tempestuous, intoxicating Shanna. He will be free . . . and he will find her. For no iron ever forged can imprison his resolute passion. And no hangman’s noose will keep Ruark from the bride— and ecstasy—that he craves.

I think this book would make a good Lifetime Movie. Adventure, an island, pirates and romance. What more could you as for in a book or a movie.
I read this book about 40 years ago and I still remember it. Great read for romance it had it all. Intriguing characters suspense everything. I loved it

not explicit in any way this was the beginning
one of the best books ever

My very favorite book of all time! The standard in which ALL romances should be written…
I love everything she writes.
Another of my favorite books. Anything by Kathleen Woodiwiss is the best!
I bought this for my E reader, my paperback had fallen apart. Wonderful book.
It’s one of the books I read every so often because it inspires me to write better. In fact, many years ago when I read Shanna for the first time, I was inspired to start writing. The characters are alive, and the setting brings the story to the reader. I’ve recommended it to many readers over the years.
My absolute favorite!
One of the best books I ever read! The other book I LOVE is Ashes in the Wind also by Kathleen Woodiwiss.
