USA Today BestsellerBrady… myself that I can’t fall for someone when we don’t have a future. But telling myself this lie and believing it are two different things.
Katherine…
When Brady shows up on a Harley, looking like an avenging angel—six feet, three inches of chiseled muscle, eyes the color of wild sage, and sun-kissed skin emblazoned with tattoos—I’m not sure if I should fall at his feet or run like hell. Because if I tell him what happened the night his family died, he might hate me.
What I don’t count on are the nights we spend together trying to forget the heartache that brought us here. I promise him it won’t mean anything, that I won’t fall in love.
I shouldn’t make promises I can’t keep.

Shameless was a wonderful and heartwarming love story about family, loss, hope and healing.
From the start I fell so hard for Brady. Goodness knows I swoon for my tatted heros but then you add his witty personality and heart of gold and Brady became my own irresistible version of kryptonite. He kept me laughing out loud and hanging onto his every word. Katherine was not to be outdone though with her witty, spunky and loving personality. I loved how these two challenged one another and balanced the other out so well. The sparks between them were enough to start a five alarm fire and their witty banter kept me constantly entertained.
Shameless was a beautifully poignant love story that gave me all the amazing feels I could ask for in one truly fantastic read. I laughed, cried and my heart was so full of hope while reading this book. If you love small town romances full of hope, healing, love and all the feels I highly recommend diving into Kat and Brady’s heartfelt and captivating story.
Wow! This book kept me glued to the pages! I stayed up wayyyyy to late reading this til the very end of the book! Poignant, romantic, unpredictable, I loved the rollercoaster of emotions and the depth of the characters. A great read!
Loved the storyline
Original in that the characters aren’t rich and privileged like so many others. I liked that.
Good book. Once I started book I put down and went right back too as soon as could. Read it you will enjoy it.
A swoon-worthy read that I just fell in love with. It’s a tear jerker for sure though. All the emotions from the tragedy that struck cuts like a knife. It made me heart ache so hard. But then from tragedy blooms something beautiful when Katherine and Brady meet. I loved every second of it. Must read!
I grabbed Shameless as a freebie and boy am I glad that I did! This heartbreakingly beautiful story is one that is not to be missed. Under tragic circumstances, Brady arrives in Texas to take care of his baby niece. What he finds is way more than he bargained for: a beautiful woman he can’t stay away from, a failing farm that is falling apart and a deliciously adorable little girl who stole his heart from the moment he met her. The story is emotional and sexy and sucked me right in from the start.
The characters in Shameless are so dynamic. I adored Katherine! She was feisty, intelligent and loving. She’s a nurturer and her devotion to Isabella made me love her even more. It was apparent from her first meeting with Brady that they were a perfect match. Their spark, their witty banter and their tender moments were enough to make my heart swoon. Brady was so much more than I thought he’d be. With his rough, tatted exterior, his soft side was a welcome surprise. And my ovaries exploded throughout as he bonded with Isabella. Seriously….KABOOM!
Lex Martin delivered the perfect story that will make you laugh and make you cry. Amid tragedy blossoms the greatest of love stories and this author did it beautifully. I can’t wait to go read the next stories in this series! 5 stars
My first book from Lex Martin and I decided to take a listen and it wasn’t bad. I really wasn’t a fan of the narrators. I wasn’t impressed with the way Stephen Dexter voiced the story and Brooke Bloomingdale was just okay for me.
I did love the sweet tension and instand chemistry with a little mix of angsty delight.
It may have just been the way the narrators portrayed the story but at parts I thought it was drawn out and a little slower but other than that it was a good book. And nevertheless I will be picking up the second book and more by Lex Martin.

Shameless is free for a limited time! It’s a small Texas town romance that features a Harley-riding tattoo artist who inherits a baby and lavender farm. Standalone contemporary romance.
Actual star rating 3.5ish. I liked this book. But I think I would have liked this book more if I had not listened to it on audio. I listened to it all in one go and for the most part I like the male and female narrators, except for when the male narrator would do the female voice and vice versa. I would cringe when that happened.
This is a pretty emotional heavy book. I very much bought into the feelings the male mc and female mc developed for each other but I sort of wanted more. I wanted more of the chemistry in the bedroom and a little more of each characters past… I felt like it was talked around a lot with little pay off on the reveals. I also like a little more conflict in my stories but I fully recognize that this book wasn’t meant to be that so I know I shouldn’t fault it for that reason. I very much liked the Brady and Katherine though. I enjoyed their personalities and I liked the way they handled the tragedy that occurs at the beginning of the book. I thought the pacing of the storytelling was done really well for the most part. Their feelings develop very organically. I admired Grady for the ways he stepped up and even before the main conflict and including it, he always put others before himself and had this won’t give up attitude. Then you have Katherine over here that is just fine with her lot in life. She is just so content. She doesn’t need a lot to be happy and I can appreciate that. I liked the way she needed a lot of pats on the back for the things she’s done and continues to do. I love how you find out these things she’s done, that she never boasted about. I enjoyed the small town vibe too.
All in all, this is a pretty solid small town, cute romance with very likable characters. If I had someone ask me for recommendations for sweet small town romances then this would be on the list. I plan to read the next book in the next few days and then then third when it released soon. I am eager to see what else this author has to offer.
How many heartaches does it take to touch a rainbow? Shameless takes the long route in answering that question. Brady and Kat are everything. Martin sends emotions soaring to the stars with tumultuous romance, courageous love and heartrending, heartbreak. Buried within the ashes of smoldering pain is a journey of hope. A message of healing that rings louder than the teardrops struggling to break free. Love strums a haunting melody and Shameless plays it to the hilt.
5 SHAMELESS STARS!! I absolutely loved Brady and Kat….they gave me all the feels through their beautiful story. It is that perfect story that makes you swoon and never want it to end. Lex Martin words are like that perfect dessert that you devour and sad when you finish. I am not sure what took me so long to read this book….all I can say is read it now.
Love is more than two people coming together. Sometimes it’s crashing and burning to find your place in the world… All the feels!! This book shattered my heart… Ripped it piece by piece and glued it back together with the love Brady and Kat share!! They went from two ships passing in the night with no direction in mind to a makeshift family in the span of months… I can’t wait to read Reckless next!! One-click this masterpiece today!!
“Shameless” (Texas Nights Book 1) by Lex Martin is a great read. I enjoyed Brady and Katherine’s story. This is a great start to this series, packed with romance, passion, family, overcoming tragedy, interesting characters, humor, new beginnings, and more. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series in “Reckless”. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, family, and series.
This book was just the cutest and steamiest book I have read in a while. I fell in love with Lex Martin’s writing a while back. It has been a while since I’ve been able to pick up one of her books. However, I am reading this series in anticipation of Breathless, #3 in this series.
I absolutely adored Brady in this book. He was all alpha male, sweet, sexy, and romantic all in one. Even when he didn’t want to be. Brady was a stand up guy. And Katherine, I can relate to in certain aspects. I loved that the Katherine’s character was short and young looking because I can relate to that aspect. I’m turning 30 shortly and I don’t think anyone would guess that. I’m also very short. Usually, the main female character is like an Amazon in most of the books I read. This was a good change from that scenario. Anyway, I digress from my review – haha.
The storyline has some sadness to their situation and tears definitely made an appearance. The angst in this book was top notch. My chest was physically aching for these characters. I don’t know why I enjoy my angst filled books so much but I do. Lex Martin definitely delivered on the level of angst that I enjoy. The back and forth between the characters and sexual tension were off the charts. The chemistry that she created between the characters was so fluid and real. Nothing felt forced or predictable. I loved this book. I love me some banter between characters and this was delivered full force. This is an all around fantastic book. The storyline was captivating but the writing kept me turning the pages as fast as possible.

There is just something about this author that speaks to me. Her characters, the storylines, and the circumstances that bring the situation to life are all authentic and real. If I close my eyes I can feel what they are experiencing. Whether it is a smell, a sound, a touch, or even a feeling I will experience it the way that the characters do.
This story, I am okay with admitting, hurt to the point that my heart got lodged in my throat. The loss here was profound. I almost got mad that I couldn’t have met Cal and Mel first But then I quickly caboshed that thought because I would have been even MORE devastated if they had a story and then they didn’t exist. That is the power of this author and her ability to MOVE her audience. I loved watching Brady and Kat navigate this awful situation and try and stay afloat for the sake of a little girl that needs them. I also appreciated that they had to work hard. There was no sugarcoating the fact that this was financially a strain on top of trying to not sink into depression over what was lost and why they were here in the first place. It made the story that much more authentic and relatable.
I loved the Dearest series and knew that there was something to Brady when I first read about him. I am glad that he got to have a chance at love. Goodness knows he deserved it. I also am glad that the author told this story in a dual POV. It really adds something to the story being able to see both sides. Highly recommend.
Finishing this book made me so update I hadn’t read it sooner! I read them out of order, reading Reckless first, so I had a glimpse of Kat and Brady. I LOVED getting to know the two of them better! This farm just seems so special, the whole area really.
I loved every bit of Kat and Brady. I felt so bad that they both felt so responsible for the deaths of Mel and Cal! That was quite a way to start a book too, just so tragic! I loved how it kind of set a tone though, they really needed to rebuild their lives. And that’s what Kat and Brady did, they completely rebuilt their lives. They might not have known it for a long time, but it was beautiful to see! That was another thing, this story was just so beautiful and emotional. I truly love emotional reads and I think that’s part of the reason I loved this so much. Then you bring in Lizzy, she was a tornado of emotions linking them to Mel and Cal, but in the best way!
Izzy was almost the match maker of the bunch. She really helped Kat and Brady come together! Between her, the farm and the amount of work Kat did for the family, it was all so inspiring. The amount of love that Kat put into this family and farm. The farm itself was amazing and I loved the effort that they both ended up putting into it. It really seemed to transform lives. Speaking of match making, these two were HOTTTT. The slow burn was so good! I loved how they really tried to stay away, but they didn’t stop flirting. They were “casual” but would get jealous, I just loved all of it. I loved that the tattoo man fell in love with the farm girl, BEST EVER!
I can’t say enough about this book, between the slow burn, the twists an turns, and just all of the emotions, it was just so good!! Definitely a favorite for sure. Now I need to go back and read EVERYTHING that Lex has written!
This story by Lex Martin really pulled me in from the start. Was a very enjoyable read!
Sorta wishing I had this one first so I could get to know Tori before her book, but that’s ok. I think I might love young Tori more with her sassafras.
I was wondering the background on Izzy in Reckless, now I know. *tears*
