When we fell in love, he was royalty. When our wedding day arrived, he had become a nightmare. And I became his prisoner.
As children, he promised to protect me for as long as he lived. As teens, we fell in love and promised each other forever. He was the love of my life. Then he disappeared without a trace.
Ten years later, he shows up at my family’s estate, wielding his royal title and … shows up at my family’s estate, wielding his royal title and influence over my father like a weapon.
Malachi Sterling, the Duke of Corwick, transformed from a tender, sweet boy who held my heart in his loving hands, into a steely-eyed, sinister man who purchased my life and freedom with the sweep of a pen.
Ten years after promising to marry each other, Malachi and I stand before God and our power-hungry families as we exchange vows.
“I, Isla Sofía Reyes, take thee, Malachi Sterling, to be my wedded husband.
To have and to hold…”
To be ensnared and possessed.
“In sickness and health…”
In selfishness and torment.
“To love and to cherish…”
To defy, and despise, and make him rue the day we met.
“’Til death do us part.”
‘Til the day I can finally uncover the secret that changed him forever.

Shameless Vows is the 2nd book in the Shameless series by Katherine L. Evans
Well……I just finished and I can’t mince words with you I feel emotional drained. This is a dark, dark story with capital D. I wasn’t ready for the sucker punch to the gut and heart this book gave me – neither will you! There’s definitely violence, emotional and physical abuse but that’s part of the main fabric of this tapestry the Author is trying to dypic for us. It’s a very serious issue in our society.
But we must keep in mind that this is still a fictional romance novel with fake characters, and we must review it as one.
I haven’t read a book this complete powerfully from beginning to end, crying out sad, tears flowing down my face in a very long time, truely It was freaking addicting I read it in one day.
The history of Malachi, and Isla is a very complicated one. They know each other since they were very little. They were full of innocent love, future promises bright happy future, but evil is around the corner ready to cause mayhem, discord, lies, misunderstanding, danger, physical & emotional heartbreak, loss, that will be hard to mend. Therefore starts a domino effect that will ripped their lives and their families lives apart. Revenge is sweet, and it does come to those that deserve it!!
There so much in this book to really get into, just know that love does prevails in the end. The starts is extremely horrible it will rip your heart out, but the ending is beautiful, your heart and soul will be mended
It’s worth the long rollercoaster tycoon ride we go with this broken couple. It’s a standalone, no cliffhangers.
Please …. please go get your book it’s really freaking awesome, it releases on 7-7-20.

This is a story about Malachi and Isla. They were childhood friends, and turn to teenage couple, and then they became more, lovers. Malachi he has always protect Isla, but a bad thing happen to their relationship, lies, false information, and Malachi thinking Isla had betrayal him as lover by cheating on him, but it wasn’t so. Then the story beginning. It’s a great story, it has drama, entertainment, and a plot twist full of emotion. I enjoyed every moment of the human emotional drama . Malachi became so ruthless ,and hateful toward Isla. I love the craziness that missing from fictional book, it has triggers for some book readers. This is fantastic novel. I love reading this book. It is a happy ending I enjoyed reading.
I had a great time getting to know the characters in this well developed storyline. The characters are well developed and engaging and kept me entertained.

Shameless Vows is a very dark and emotional read featuring Duke Malachi Sterling of Corwick and Isla Sofia Reyes who start out as teens wanting to wed but end up angry and bitter due to a betrayal which leads to a misunderstanding between them. I highly recommend this emotional rollercoaster ride with its well developed characters and a dark addictive story of betrayal, misunderstanding, anger, and a surprise ending.

Once I picked up the book I couldn’t put it down.
The story is well written and I loved the love and chemistry between Isla and Malachi.
Truth to be told it was an emotional rollercoaster for me.
I never thought I would ever have such strong feelings about a main character, but I hate Malachi for what he did.
All in all, it was a great story and I recommend it to you if you wanted to read something dark, steamy, and powerful.
It packs a punch more ways than one.
I liked this book. The story was well written and flowed beautifully. The characters were well defined within the story and they had such great chemistry. I loved the ending. If you like the works of this wonderful author, then this book is a must-read.
“World without end, and beyond my last breath, I will love you, my sweet Isla.”
This story was something else. It was way darker than the first book, as the author warned at the start. The book was as dark as I like them, and I devour it in one sitting!
Isla Reyes was arranged to be married to Malachi. They’ve been inseparable since they were little. However, the Malachi she sees today is nothing like the young man she lost 10 years ago. He’s cold, cruel and distant. There’s nothing but fury and hatred in his eyes. There marriage starts off badly. If you’ve read the previous book, then you know that Isla was against this marriage, but she doesn’t have a choice.
Malachi is furious with how things ended between him and Isla a decade ago. This marriage is more for a revenge and a way to torment her, than a way to love and cherish her. He’s determined to make her life hell. From day one he’s unkind and unnecessary cruel towards her. I had a hard time understanding him and bypassing his actions. What happened all those years ago, doesn’t excuse his present actions.
The book is very dark at times. You’ll find yourself frustrated and maybe uncomfortable with what’s happening. If dark themes are not in your comfort zone, then you should pass this book. However, if your preferences are “the darker the better”, then you just found a story that will grip you from the start and keep you going until the last page!!!
This was a very compelling story for me. There was a lot of angst, hatred, love, and redemption. I cried; I cheered; I groaned. Isla and Malachi had a love so strong and so true, but then youthful pride torn them apart. The pain these two went through, the guilt, and realizations made my heart literally hurt. There were definitely triggers for people within these pages, and Katherine Evans made it clear before this story began. If you can read beyond those triggers, this is a story that I highly recommend. I look forward to the next in the series.

Malachi and Isla loved each other since they were teenagers and promised to get married and be together forever. Then, without warning and any explanation, he ended contact with Isla. And for 11 years it was just that, until the day he appeared again, with his parents in tow and the news that they are getting married. But he was changed, a hard and bitter man, hating her for something she cannot remember. With no choice she honoured the arranged marriage not knowing what awaits her as the wife of a duke. Little did she know it would be torturous, still having feelings for him but being outlasted by him and his family, not understanding why he would want to marry her if he hates her this much. Little by little she learns Malach’;s truth of what he thought happened, and having had trouble with remembering traumatic events her whole life, she believed that she was responsible for destroying their relationship and breaking the man she loved her whole life. She also learned that he only married her to protect her life, a promise he made years ago, not even considering why he would do so without thought if he really hates her as much. But then she found an e-mail indicating that more was going on than what was evident and determined to find out what happened, she pursued the matter. Breaking open the secrets of those few months in her life brought the truth, or at least a part of it, to light and Malachi realised that he was in the wrong. Is it possible to for them to recover from this, could she forgive him and most of all, could he forgive himself? This is a raw, emotional story with many triggers of violence and abuse but humans are flawed and we will most always try to exact revenge if we felt we were wronged. And sometimes the basic reason will be love because sometimes there is a fine line between love and hate. This book is a page turner, another great read from one of my favourite authors.

I cannot put into words how much I loved this book. I cried for the injustice, I screamed for the Happily Ever After. I rooted for the hope the FMC had and prayed the characters would get work through all their obstacles. This book had me up, down and inside out. It was that good.
isla has always loved Malachi since they were very young until one day malachi isn;t there and Isla has to pick up the pieces of her life until one day malachi comes back with vengeance in his heart and revenge in his soul .Like all romances stories there is always a villain and miscommunication, betrayal, deception and deceit, twist and turns and most important love and this is one of those stories. Yes Isla and Malachi have chemistry but there is also heartbreak and sadness. but once the truth is told there is happiness and relief but loss of the once powerful love that was untouchable. This was a great read and i highly recommend it

“My second book of Katherine and it was a great story. I’m so in love with this dark romance. Shameless Vows had me glued until I finished it. Malachi and Isla’s story was complicated. They grew up together and as teenagers they fell in love but their story wasn’t meant to be at that time. Years later he married Isla in order to protect her but things are way complicated between them. One of the things I loved the most about this story was how fast-paced it was. Lots of drama and steamy scenes. Did I mention suspense too? I loved it. I highly recommend you.”
They have loved each other since they were children.
It’s well written, a definite page turner with characters that are strong, well thought out and well developed and good together. You’ll find yourself glued to the pages unable to put it down. Plenty of romance with action and a bit of mystery added in. You don’t want to miss this one but be prepared your emotions will be taken on a wild roller coaster of a ride.

I don’t know if I’d rather NOT have the family or the love. Isla and Malachi (Duke of Corwick) love begins during childhood and their love has endured heartbreak, betrayal, and loss. I had a love/ hate relationship with Malachi throughout the story and one single question that needed answering; What happen? When the truth is finally reveled my mouth was wide open for about 5 minutes afterwards. I could not put this book down for the anticipation and actually finished it in one day. I love this book. It was well written and kept me wondering. My favorite part of the book was when the truth came out and the individual lesson of talk to each other had to be learned. Katherine did a very good job with this book. There is a previous book titled “One Shameless Weekend” that did not have to be read prior to this but I will go back and read it just because this one was so good. Definitely a 10 star read!!!!
Dark, raw and gritty
I’d just finished Author Katherine L Evan’s previous book in the series, Shameless Weekend, and although it was a deep and profound story, it was still quite an uplifting and hopeful book. There we met Isla and Malachi and nothing, NOTHING could have prepared me for their story in this book. Ms Evans indicated that theirs held darker themes, but oh holy crap, this darkness was raw and gritty.
It’s been a while since I’ve read quite something as painfully devastating as this book. It wasn’t so much of an angsty ugly cry, but more of a story that had me sitting like a stunned mullet watching a horrific train crash in motion, yet unable to help in any way, because surely there is no recovery to be had. I wondered how Isla could ever get resolution. All I’m going to say here is that I totally admired her character, and my heart bled for her.
I absolutely can’t begin to describe my true feelings towards two key characters in this book because I believe they will be spoilers, but they each hold a close and very different kind of relationship with Isla. I believe they got off lightly and I in no way admire their characters. And, I’d like to have seen more in the way of amendments done for her. Does my issue with these two characters detract from how much I loved this book and recommend it as great reading for those who love second chance romances that roll on the dark side of the tracks?? Only very slightly. 4.5 stars – yep
Isla and Malachi’s story is a page turner and definitely an emotional roller coaster with a healthy dose of revenge, drama, deception, betrayals and broken trust. The story revolves around Isla and her perceived wrong doings, most of which she does not remember. Her parents and Malachi treat her like dirt, they tell her she betrayed them and is worthless and that she deserves the bad treatment she is getting from them. Her siblings however love her and just want to protect her. I loved them. When a threat against Isla comes to light, her father and Malachi decides she will marry him for protection. While her parents loves her and wants to protect her, they are very disappointed that she betrayed the family and tend to treat Isla harshly. I admit I hated Malachi, the way he treated her while they were married was appalling. I did a happy dance when the truth came out and she was vindicated and he now had to beg forgiveness. I was disappointed her parents never cleared the air with her and apologized for the way they treated her.
The story line and characters were exception and the author has a way to draw you in and keep you invested and hooked. An absolute must read.

I enjoyed this story. Malachi and Ilsa’s journey was a bit on the rough side but they were made for each other. Their connection was strong, they were good together.
The story line was good, the character work was great and the book had a fairly smooth flow to it. This was a quick, fun read and kept me entertained from beginning to end.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and what an emotional roller coaster journey this story is! Malachi and Ilsa have loved each other since childhood, but misunderstandings and betrayal stepped in to separate them. Ilsa is a strong and independent female who is so broken, and Malachi is an alpha who I loved / hated throughout, but he did redeem himself as this story progressed. This is a well written tale which is dark and intense, and filled with betrayal, loss, twists, suspense, danger, vengeance, angst, abuse, love and humour, and is an intricate and in-depth plot with complex characters. I cannot wait to read more from this author and highly recommend her work for all readers.
