I only had one job. Take care of my best friend’s baby sister. It was the last thing I promised him, and I always keep my promises. Lucia DeMarco has other plans. For one, she hates me. Doesn’t trust me. How can I protect a girl who can’t trust me? For another, she’s digging into my past. And if she discovers what I’ve been hiding, I’ll lose any chance. I can’t let that happen. Because she’s … chance.
I can’t let that happen. Because she’s all I see at night when I close my eyes. She’s all I think about all day.
I just found out Lucia’s going on a date.
So I’m making another promise–he’s not gonna get the girl.

I was ready to give this book a good rating until it ended in the middle of the story. I HATE cliffhangers which suddenly end. Lucia was portrayed as too strong and too dumb to recognize real dangers to her life and we never found out why Noah considered himself unworthy–read the next two books in the series to find out–no promises to really finding out. Previews of books should list them as cliffhangers.
This was my first time reading Nana & M. Malone. Shameless was part of the Happily Ever After Collection I have been reading. This was a surprise!! I really enjoyed the hint of mystery along with brothers best friend romance!! This book was part of a trilogy and I look forward to reading the next two books!!
Noah promised he would protect his best friends little sister but at what point does protecting turn into controlling? Will his ways hurt their relationship?
Lucia had enough of Noah’s overbearing ways; he had crossed a line they didn’t realize was there. As more pieces clicked into place to the puzzle that Lucia was trying to solve, the more questions she had. Will she be able to solve anything before it’s too late? Is everything she has ever believed a lie?
The cliffhanger!!! My jaw dropped! Now, I saw it coming, but man, it still caught me by surprise!! I love when a book I know nothing about catches me by surprise!! I fully jumped into this book headfirst and didn’t surface until it was over!
I do like the men, the mystery and the UST this story embodies. The characters have weight and become a part if you. But then, the cliffhanger. I really would like to continue, but maybe not right away as I do not think I can bring myself to watching the fallout of the final revelation at the end.
ReRead 2019-Once I realized Matthias’ story was out I figured I’d start over because it’s been a while since I read the series! There are so many little things I’d forgotten, but it’s just as good the second time around!
*********
I loved Noah’s broodiness and Lucia’s sassy innocence. Their chemistry was well balanced, with some push/pull happening, but the build up was worth it..plenty of sizzle and spark!
I really got a kick out of the supporting characters; the humor and jokes, sometimes at Noah’s expense, were just that funny! I found Noah’s crew to be quite a colorful group, but Matthias was my favorite! He rocks his nerdy computer role, but his pat down at the FBI office revealed a surprise-it’s always the quiet ones you have to watch out for! Lucia’s best friend JJ is a riot-her shenanigans to payback Noah had me cracking up!
My lands, talk about an addictive read! I read the story in one sitting! I was flipping pages in anticipation of what would happen next! The prequel to the series gave me a couple of answers and I hope to see more questions answered as the series continues. The pacing was good, the suspense is light, and the romance was smokin’ hot! The book ends with a cliffhanger and while I wasn’t surprised by it, I can’t believe the Malones ended it on that note! Man, they did their job well and good, because I’m hooked and can’t wait to see what in the world happens next!!
The author brings a new twist to the old ‘I’ve fallen for my bother’s best friend/ my best friend’s little sister’ story line. I love the how the seemingly oblivious yet all knowing is the Grandma. I’ve only read the first of the three part series but the 1st installment held plenty of interest to read the 2nd and 3rd. Can’t wait to read what happens!!
A very good book to read on a rainy day because you don’t want to put it down.
I don’t usually like books that force you to buy the next one to see what happens, but this is an exception. Worth reading all three
A sexy, thrilling and romantic read. Loved it.
Even though i know it is a series, i hate being left hanging 🙁
I would have given it a better rating but it gives you a short story and then you have to buy next book.
Good read, but a little too-explicit sex for me.
This is a good read. Good mystery. So to say, It ends leaving you up in the air. I am looking for the sequels
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, but felt it was too short.
End leaves you hanging.
The older I get the more I enjoy love stories…
I don’t like books that have stories that don’t end with volume one.
I could not put this book down. Great story line with a twist of love.
Well written but doesn’t end with an ending. Even when I know I am reading the first of a trilogy, I expect the book to have some sort of resolution, not a cliffhanger.
I enjoyed the plot line and the writer is talented. Warning, however… it’s a cliff hanger. You need to buy the next book (or two) to find out the truth of the mystery. Not fond of that marketing ploy. personally.
Loved the book . . . hate the cliffhanger
