She needs his protection. He demands her surrender.Since the arrogant, infuriatingly sexy brute spanked her like a little girl on her eighteenth birthday seven years ago, Ellie has done her best to avoid Mason Malone, and he is the absolute last person she wants to come crawling to asking for a favor. But with her brother deep in debt to the wrong people and her life in danger, Ellie knows Mason … Ellie knows Mason is the only one who can help her.
Mason agrees to intervene, but the rough, battle-hardened former Marine turned millionaire owner of a private security agency is no knight in shining armor, and his assistance will come at a high price. In return for his protection, Ellie will be made to surrender her body to him utterly and completely, to be used anywhere, anytime, and in any way he pleases.
He will not be patient. He will not be gentle. He is going make her pay for all the years she spent looking down her nose, pretending she was too good for a guy like him. She will moan, plead, and cry out with pain, humiliation, and helpless, desperate need as he strips her bare, punishes her harshly, and then takes her over and over, each time harder than the last.
He is going to break her in the most shameful way imaginable, and she is going to beg him for it.
Publisher’s Note: Shamefully Broken includes spankings, sexual scenes, intense and humiliating punishments, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don’t buy this book.

And she ends up loving it. Ellie’s brother, Aiden is hooked on drugs and does some really bad things to get the money to keep up his habit. The bad guys are after him now and if they get their hands on him, he will pay dearly. Ellie goes to the only person she knows that could help her brother, his childhood best friend Mason. Mason has worked his way to the top, a self made millionaire and is capable of helping, but he has to teach the spoiled, entitled siblings a lesson if he even considers helping them. Ellie is to pay the price for Mason’s help for her brother. The terms for Mason’s help is total submission from Ellie, he demands the right to take Ellie and do whatever he wants whenever he wants to and she must submit to his humiliation and sexual perversions. Neither sibling shows much appreciation for the help Mason is giving so both must be taught some humility and respect to the man that has never harmed them in any way. I enjoyed the story, plot and Ellie’s experience as she learns that everything will not be handed to her simply because her family is wealthy and she was spoiled with monetary things. Mason is a tough taskmaster, but he knows that any softening of the lessons he is trying to teach Ellie won’t be learned unless there are punishments for bad behavior.
I love Mason, he was stern and unfeeling at times (it seems) but he really had the right idea about how to get through to the spoiled, rich siblings.
There is a HEA in the end, so that made me very happy.
I’m a big Loki Renard fan and found this book in her list of works. How did I not know she had this one? I’m so glad it was listed. If you’ve read the teaser then you have the premise for this storyline. It’s a relatively quick read with an intense plot that seems to have been building for some time. The emotional and physical chemistry between Mason and Elliott is intense since they have their own rollercoaster of events taking place. The emotional relationship between Mason, Elliot, and Aiden is the catalyst for what transpires and a story I would really like to be able to read from his point of view. This was a great read.
The author clearly states that this is a dark romance and she is not mistaken. I thought maybe he misinterpreted some of her actions and that is why he treats her as he does. I think she was overwhelmed by her attraction to him which provides him with enough data to make the wrong conclusion, because for a smart man, I think he read her wrong. I loved this story and thought the author did a tremendous job of making the reader feel her emotions as we read each scene. This was a very steamy read with exciting characters and a great storyline. If you like Jennifer Bene, Dani Rene, and Addison Cain, you will definitely enjoy this book.
This is a great, entertaining read. Unexpected twist involving her brother and his self destructive ways. Mason is a hard, loving kind of guy with a strong presence and a firm hand. Very entertaining.
I had a really hard time with how this one played out
The premise of the story was solid and the character situations played perfectly with the tone
My problem was with the way the characters responded to/and in certain situations
I enjoy dark romances – but there has to be a trigger that begins the romance -the “relationship” felt so forced
Ellie was an absolutely spineless little twit – I had such a problem with her inner monologues – I get the justification of his actions – to a degree -but she kept knocking herself down or questioning her choices – and at what point did she fall in love with Mason? No, I am not being rhetorical- that is an honest question.
As for Mason – really?
He wants Ellie –
he wants a 24/7 lifestyle with her as his pet – I get it –
What I do not get is his treatment and responses to Ellie –
Are you looking for love and a pet to care for? Or just a toy to toss around?
Because one requires a little reciprocation and care and love-
the other –
well it is just an object so you do not have to worry how you treat it – if that is what you wanted then you are doing it right
I realize I am probably alone in my feelings here – but I did not feel an emotional connection with this couple
Yes I plan on reading book two when it comes out – there is a great story here and I am hoping that the next provides a better emotional connection between the characters
Mostly wonderful, there are however a few elements I don’t care for. Well I’ve backspace over what they are. After all others will love them and I’d just be spoiling it.
I really hope Loki plans to give us a story about Aiden.

OMG! Loki Renard’s genius strikes again! Dark, delicious, erotic, and utterly decadent!
Elliott “Ellie” Taylor-Chapman…rich, entitled, and desperate. Her brother, Aiden, debt-ridden and drug-addled, has disappeared. She’s no idea where he’s gone, who’s after him, or what they want. With nowhere to turn, she screws up her courage to face the one man she hates. Mason Malone, who had the audacity to spank her like the child she was on her 18th birthday, is the one man who humiliated her beyond forgiveness. But Ellie’s terrified. And Mason’s the only one who can help. Screwing up her courage to face him is one thing. Asking him for help? Something altogether different! Ellie thinks Mason’s former friendship with her brother will help. She couldn’t be more wrong!. Oh, Mason’s willing to help…for a price. But it’s not Ellie’s money he wants. It’s Ellie herself. Without that, Aiden’s doomed. Does she have an alternative? Ellie soon realizes she’s in so far over her head. Submit to Mason? Oh, no! Mason wants so much more than her submission. Can she do this? Ellie soon realizes she’s no match for the dominant former Marine. But when Ellie’s very life is at stake, she understands she has no choice. Even Mason, with all his resources, may not be able to protect Ellie, much less Aiden. As danger closes in from every direction, Mason’s demands grow. Can Ellie do this? Is it worth it, even for Aiden? Can Ellie trust Mason? Will he keep his end of the bargain? And just how far will Mason go to claim Ellie’s complete and total surrender? It all comes down to one thing…trust. Without that, no one will survive!
I absolutely adored this book. Ellie’s a spoiled little rich girl who’s desperate in so very many ways. While her brother may be her reason for approaching Mason, Ellie needs his help just as much as, if not more, than Aiden. She’s headstrong, willful, entitled, and bratty. And Mason? He’s as tough as nails, implacable, unmovable, and dominant to his core. With nothing in common other than Ellie’s brother, these two are the proverbial immovable rock meeting the irresistible force. Yet Loki Renard has created a story filled with overwhelming domination, hesitant submission, and intricately woven suspense that’s riveting, Ellie’s desperate plea to Mason, her abject terror and fear of the price Mason requires for his help, fly off the page. Mason’s ruthlessness, utter obsession with Ellie, and seeming indifference to Aiden make him completely unpredictable. At times, I thought I knew exactly where the story was headed. I was so very wrong. Predictable? Oh, no! Captivating? Absolutely! Loki Renard’s brilliant! I wish I could give Shamefully Broken more than five stars! Congratulations, Ms. Renard! You rocked it!
One final note. Be an informed reader! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language, dark themes, and sexual scenes. If you don’t enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and Amazon. Use these resources. DON’T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON’T ENJOY THE BOOK. It’s not fair to the author. She works very hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you’ll object to a book’s subject matter before you buy it, you’re doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
A new contemporary book by Loki Renard. If you are looking for a sweet romance then this is not the book for you. It definitely has dark elements and has dubcon/noncon and humiliation scenes.
I enjoyed the book, because it two great characters. Mav is a strong dominant, who made his own way in the world and you knows just what Elliot need. Elliot is a spoilt rich girl, but she is not happy. I love how she is starting to see herself in a new light under Mav guidance.
There is great chemistry between them and they clash quite a few times which makes for some assuming scenes. It is also scorching.
Shamefully Broken was okay. I was looking for a dark romance, and this book sort of delivered. It straddled the line between dark and cheesy for me. A lot of other people seem to really like the book, so I think maybe it just wasn’t to my taste.
A wonderful novel, it has a HEA but be warned there is a lot of pages before you get there! It’s full of what could be described as forced consent to some very degrading treatment and harsh punishments. Very well written and a definite page turner!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book!! It was sexy, steamy and had bdsm in it!! Those are 3 of my favorite things combined in this book!! If you are a woman who loves spankings by a sexy hero, this is a definite read for you!!

If you have triggers absolutely do not read this book. I felt the writing in this book was lazy and used abuse instead of sane and consensual BDSM to drive the story. There is little character development and Mason is an abusive man that thinks he has to take Ellie without her consent and whip her to punish her for not acting the way he wants. I understand that it was marketed as a dark romance and dark it was, but there was no romance her. It was a forced and conditioned relationship, a true sex slave. Ellie didn’t get to make a choice her choice was forced on her. I love BDSM books and I even find a guilty thrill when reading dark romances but Mason had no redeeming qualities and his decision to take ALL of Ellie’s choices from her is not a romance, not even a dark one. I am ok with a hard ass, appearing unfeeling Dom that uses punishment, even extreme punishment to help a sub through her fears, emotions and self imposed roadblocks or the sub that escapes an abusive man/Dom to find their way in the world but that is not what this book delivered, at least to me. All I felt when reading this one was disgust not any guilty pleasure.
Anyone who has read Loki Renard before knows that she doesn’t just touch on the dark. Instead, she pulls you under, kicking and screaming, until you don’t think you’ll find your way out. She keeps you in that space long enough for you to acclimate, only to pull you out of the dark and into the blinding light. Either way, you feel like you can’t catch your breath, you don’t know what way is up or down, and the best part is that you don’t care. All you want to do is stay immersed in the world she has created. Her stories aren’t for those who prefer light, fluffy romances, cozy blankets, and smiling eyes. They are for readers who want just as much pain as pleasure, extremes in give and take, eyes that pierce your soul, and passion that will melt you to your bones. Nothing is ever as it seems, but it always gives you what you didn’t know you were looking for. Without telling you what this story is about, the blurb does that just fine, these are the reasons why you should read this book. It’s intense, surprising, beautiful, disturbing, and absolutely perfect!
Dark intense and slightly twisted with a strong thread of care and Love!
If I had not been on vacation, this would have ended up on the dnf shelf. Elliot was annoying. She referred to her lady parts as pu$$y or c*nt but her backside was ‘bottom’. This seems a strange thing to fixate on but it annoyed me to no end! This was a story in desperate need of the male perspective. If we had seen things from Mason’s side they may have made more sense but, then again, maybe not. I can buy going from hate to love but, the author didn’t sell it here.
I loved it. Must be a dirty old lady. Great fantasy world for someone 77 yrs old.
Hot, but fell apart in the schmaltz at the end.
I love anything and everything that Loki Renard writes. The stories are always hot, the romance is always overwhelming, and the plot is always good. This one is no different.
Spoiled rich girl Elliot loves her brother Aiden, desperately. Their parents are totally hands off and have always been. They’ve totally washed their hands of Aiden and all his problems now and have cut him off. He’s called Ellie and told her that he’s in trouble. She goes to the one person who she thinks will help, his old friend Mason. She hates him though, and has gone out of her way to avoid since her 18th birthday, 7 years ago.
Mason is a self-made man. He’s worked hard to get where he is and to earn all his money. When Elliot pushes her way into his office to ask for help, he makes a deal with her. He’ll help get Aiden out of trouble, and in return, she’ll be his. He will get to do anything and everything he wants to with her whenever he wants to. She refuses to take his deal, gets in her car and rushes home. When he calls her on the way home, she answers and tells him to get stuffed. Then she refuses to answer the phone anymore. She gets home and all of a sudden, some big scary dudes break into her apartment, looking for Aiden. In comes Mason to the rescue.
OMG, this story is hot. I mean, wow. Mason is so Dom-ly that it literally comes off my kindle in waves. I almost wanted to do what he said because he was so charismatic. However, that doesn’t mean that he didn’t piss me off sometimes. He really did have that Dom my way or the high way thing going on, and he really wasn’t about to change anything for Ellie. But, I mostly liked him. I mostly liked Ellie too. Sometimes she was annoyingly pushy and spoiled, but she spent all her 25 years growing up treated that way with no one to tell her no. She had problems getting out of that mold, but she managed to come back from that. I would love to see more of these two because daaanng, they were so great. Can I give this more than 5 stars?
