“Call me Cal. I’m the little sh*t in the blue cutoff.” -If this goes south, we’re grounded for sure. -Are you positive your dad won’t mind? -Yeah, I can do what I want.“Me and my crew have been together a long time. We make a good team.”“But I’m the one that always seems to get in trouble.” -Relax, we just need a few more pieces.“You might say I bring the trouble on myself.” “But that’s what … the trouble on myself.”
“But that’s what being a kid is all about.”
“Well, I’m 23 now and not much has changed. But if it’s not broke, don’t fix it! I promised my parents I’d think about getting a job but tonight is the summer kickoff party. I’m hosting which means it’s time to get going. THIS was something I’d always wanted to try…”
SHAKE THE LAKE
Cal and his best friends set out to evade adult responsibility and chase the endless summer across the map. They land in Lake Victoria, Arizona, a party oasis in heart of BRO culture. With some small town sensibility, the outsider crew unifies the lake’s wake scene and helps save a bullied marina from snobby yacht club encroachment by staging a mammoth, end-of-season music and water sports festival against the wishes of the town’s well-to-do and a pair of hard nosed park rangers. Navigating childhood friendships, growing pains, hard work, heartbreak and new love, Cal begins to come to terms with the meaning of growing up while staying young at heart in this fish out of water romantic comedy.

What did I like? I have never read, much less reviewed a graphic novel, but I was totally impressed. Although, it’s a little more risqué than I expected, as you know that is the time we live in. I was truly impressed with the artwork, but as I found out, the work is extensive when you do a graphic novel. It is beautifully done and Zach has developed a wonderful storyline, that not only is entertaining but has a lesson to be learned.
What will you like? Exciting artwork, interesting and entertaining storyline, definite life lesson! The extent and depth of the artwork will blow your mind. The characters are funny and even silly at times, but maybe that is just from my point of view, being in the next generation. I enjoyed the book immensely and thought it is the type of book that younger kids need to be reading, instead of some of the trash that I have seen on the market. Knowing that the author put his heart and soul into the book, showing that it could be done, was also impressive. Zack and his team should be proud of the completed project that they worked hard to put together!!! Keeping in mind that we are in the year 2020, I would say that this book will be a hit!
