There are a million reasons why I need to stop thinking about Taylor D’Angelo naked. She’s too young for me, for starters. She’s too ambitious. She’s my job.Romance was the last thing on my mind when I agreed to look into her stalker as a favor. Now, she’s all I can think about–and in every position I can imagine.I’m not the only one obsessing. The threats against her are intensifying along with our … obsessing.
The threats against her are intensifying along with our connection.
If I give in, if I let our bodies take over, it could draw her stalker out.
Our passion could save her.
Or it could destroy us both.
Meet Mr. August – He’ll do anything to protect her.

When Taylor is in danger she is pointed towards local police detective Landon Ware. Taylor is young but the chemistry between them is off the charts hot. I will do everything to protect Taylor’s body even give and make her mine, but will that put her in more danger? Meet Landon Ware our August Man of the Month. This series is so good and every couple we meet just make it better and better. Landon and Taylor are definitely a great Great story with great characters. I can’t wait to meet Mr. September.
Shake It Up by J. Kenner is Man of the Month series, Book 8. From the moment that Taylor D’Angelo and Landon Ware ran into each other, literally, there was an immediate attraction. Problem is, neither thinks they are right for the other person. Taylor is finishing up her degree and helping out with the Man of the Month contest at The Fix on Sixth but when threatening notes start to appear she is worried that she has picked up a stalker from one of her classes, or worse someone from her past come back to haunt her.
When Landon finds out that Taylor is in trouble he will stop at nothing to protect her and since he is a cop, he’s pretty good at that sort of thing. Once they actually talk to each other its not long before the walls that each had put up to keep thoughts of the other out of their mind breaks down and something more grows, hot and fast, between them. These characters have deep wounds from their history but once they taste each other they know it’s different and worth fighting for.
I liked how while each had valid self doubts it was not something that was dragged out or forced to be something that divided them. Learning more about Landon and Taylor’s characters after seeing them in other books was nice and at this point the cast of characters that has been built in this series is vast, diverse, fun and romantic.
Overall I like all the books that J. Kenner has written in this series and Shake It Up was a very nice addition.
(I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
Another month – another man! Loved Taylor and Landon. Taylor has a stalker and needs help and turns to Brent, The Fix’s security guy. Brent asks his police buddy Landon to help. He’s 10 years older, but that doesn’t stop the sparks. I loved their story – suspense and sexy times had me turning the pages.
J. Kenner shakes it up with her latest eighth installment to the Man of the Month series. In Shake It Up, Kenner treats her readers to the older man and younger woman trope. While this book might not be my favorite of the series, this book does shakes it up with a romance of two people whose attraction were bound to happen. When Taylor is in need of protection, Brent is the officer who will find himself wanting to mix business with pleasure. So what happens when Brent is not only finding himself protecting her but also becoming enamored with her?
As always, Kenner writes a fast paced romance that has romantic elements that would keep any reader entertained.
4 He’ll Protect Her Stars!!
It’s Mr. August for this book and Landon is oh so sexy!! Is there an age difference between our H/h, yes, but for me it’s not a big deal and it shouldn’t have been a big deal for Landon….and he gets over it because there’s only so much a man can do to ignore the heat and chemistry Taylor brings to his life.
I really loved the suspense part of this book as it’s not the norm for our gang at The Fix. This story moves at a great pace and once these two finally give in to their mutual attraction it is on!! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I’m absolutely loving this series!!
Man of the Month book 8.
Loved how protective Landon is with Taylor.
Taylor D’Angelo a grad student also working at The Fix has been being stalked by someone. She finally told Brent at the The Fix about being stalked. He told her he would help her by finding someone to help protect her. Landon Ware a police officer volunteered to help protect her.
However as these two spend time together they will find out how strong their attraction is for one another. Will Landon give in to his attraction for Taylor knowing he has job in protecting her?
I voluntarily received an ARC for a honest review!
Landon and Taylor’s story is definitely a hot read with some mystery and suspense thrown in. Landon and Taylor both have painful pasts, but have both grown into fantastic adults in spite of it. The gang at The Fix are a great group and always there for each other. Landon stepping up to protect Taylor from the threats being made against her brings them closer together and they can no longer resist their sizzling attraction. Can’t wait for the next book!
Landon, from what I read about him in the previous books, did not disappoint and I knew would be added as another favorite! I knew the minute Taylor was in his sights, he would go all Alpha mode stat. Since book one, you build on the relationships with each character that comes into the story. I love the comrade that the girls have for Taylor. The men do not back down with the dramatic events coming their way.
As the “older man” Landon fights hard to keep his attraction at bay. But with a Babe like Taylor, I have a feeling that Landon will be a lost cause eventually lol. The drama with Taylor’s past has me hooked on the story. Can Landon help Taylor over come the darkness? Not only was the character building great, but the emotions and sexiness added were at an all time high! J.K. did not disappoint with Shake It Up!!! Can I say this is another favorite added to the MOTM series lol.
I always love suspense with my romance and this book has it in spades! When Taylor starts receiving creepy cards and a brick is thrown through her car window, she’s afraid her mysterious past has caught up with her. Not wanting to flee a life and friends she loves, she reluctantly decides its time to ask for help. That help comes in the form of hot as sin cop Landon. Now these protective services come as no hardship to either Taylor or Landon as they’ve been fighting a mutual attraction for months. The only thing standing in their way is his thinking she’s too young for him and her fear he’ll despise her if the truth of her sordid past comes out. I really liked the element of danger & the quick pace of this book. It’s also fun having characters from previous books involved in the story.
I’ve been loving this series more and more with each new addition. And Shake It Up is not an exception. It is a romantic suspense story that will make you swoon and at the same time keep you at the end of your seat. It is a story of survival and second chances at life, a story of love and hope for the future.
Landon and Taylor are two intriguing characters. Though there as different as they can be, coming from different backgrounds and separated by age, they are also perfect for each other. The chemistry between them is explosive but with a deadly past lurking around the corner, and secrets being revealed, their new and budding relationship is at stake.
I am not going to reveal anything else but I am going to say that I definitely recommend this book. For that matter, I recommend all the books in the series 🙂 So don’t waste any time and pick up your copy now 😉 You won’t regret it.
“Have I mentioned I love you?”
“I think I heard something along those lines. But feel free to repeat it as often as you want.”
Eight down, Four to go!! Each month brings a new, sexy man. How awesome is that? I love this series. The story line is great, the characters are lovable, and the chemistry is off the chart!
Taylor D’Angelo finally feels like she’s found a home. One where she’s safe. One where her past can’t find her. Or has it? Creepy notes, photos that indicate she’s being watched, vandalism to her car – it all points to her biggest fear. He’s found her. Turning to Brent for help, he enlists the skills of Austin PD detective Landon Ware to protect her until this is all over. Oh, Lord. She’s lusted after him from afar, and now he’s going to be at her side. Will he be able to find her stalker before her stalker finds her? If she tells him the whole truth about her past, will she lose any chance she has with him?
Landon Ware is one of Austin’s finest. He’s been drawn to Taylor since he first saw her. And now she’s in danger and needs someone to keep her safe until her stalker is found. Landon will find this guy and make sure he never gets near Taylor. Ever. Listening to Taylor’s story, he knows she’s keeping secrets – holding something back. How can he protect her if he doesn’t know the full story. His mission is to get her to trust him – with her past and with her heart. But, will he be able to get to her in time when her past comes for her? Landon has just found her. He won’t lose her now.
The books in this series are packed with chemistry, great couples, and of course lots of steamy times! They’re easy reads but once you read one, you will have to read them all!! I would highly recommend these!!
Damn, Landon . . . I’ve been waiting for your broody story and whoa, I was not disappointed!
I loved your immediate need to protect Taylor. Adored your attempt to keep your feelings in check. Cheered for you to break through Taylor’s protective shields—to break down the wall surrounding her heart and gain her trust. And, I needed a fan to cool off from all the sexiness.
And Taylor. God, I just wanted to wrap you up in a big hug and tell you everything would be all right. I loved you heart. Your tenacity. Your drive to succeed. Your fight to be something, someone bigger and better than your past.
I adored Landon and Taylor’s quickly developed relationship. They’re perfect for each other and I couldn’t get enough of them and their story in Shake It Up. Landon is the ideal Mr. August! Can’t wait for more in this fantastic Man of the Month series.
We’re now into the eighth book in the ‘Man of the Month’ series and I have to admit, I think Ms. Kenner may have ran out of steam a little bit. This story didn’t pull me in quite as well as the previous books. The characters, while well written just didn’t appeal to me. Yes, the story was fast paced and fairly suspenseful with the stalker storyline but it just felt kinda flat all the same.
Taylor may have seemed like a fun time girl, but she has some hidden and dark elements to her past that have returned and put her in danger. She needs help, which her friends at the bar, the Fix on Sixth offer. It comes in the form of detective Landon, a man she’s been secretly lusting after for a while.
Landon has had some not so ‘friend like’ feelings of his own about Taylor and is more than happy to show her while protecting her at the same time.
Can he save the damsel in distress or with the bad guy get the girl?
Grab your copy and find out in Shake It Up.
I cannot believe we are already on book #8 in the Man of the Month Series, Shake It Up!! Ready to meet Mr. August?
We’ve gotten glimpses of Taylor throughout the series, but we now know about her past. She’s had some difficult times and it look as though it all may be coming right back to her. But, the people at The Fix aren’t about to stand by and just watch this all go down, and in comes Landon, who Taylor is interested in.
Landon is finally getting the opportunity he wants to show Taylor that he can be the one to keep her safe. They both have to overcome their pasts to be able to succumb to their feelings, and when they do all bets are off and Landon will do anything to keep Taylor safe.
This was another great read by J. Kenner! I enjoyed everything about this book and look forward to book #9!!
Shake It Up – that’s exactly what J. Kenner does with the 8th installment of her Man of the Month series because Landon and Taylor’s story is romantic suspense unlike the previous books, but readers need not worry about anything else being ‘shook up’ because Kenner still gives her readers a quick and dirty read and definitely leaves them satisfied;)
Mr. August is a police officer turned body guard who volunteers to protect a woman who he has been attracted to since the first time they met, which means this may be the best thing for him or the worst, considering he’s supposed to ‘guard’ her body not give into the desire to own her body and soul.
Readers can guess how well Landon fights his attraction to Taylor while they’re constantly in close proximity to each other, but even though he does cross the line, it’s clear that Landon and Taylor share an intense connection that they both want to explore, so even though she’s eleven years younger than him and is being stalked by an extremely dangerous man from her past, they can’t get enough of one another
Readers familiar with the Man of the Month series will already have some knowledge of who Taylor is, but it’s not until Shake It Up that we learn about her past and the bad things that were supposed to be behind her. I definitely think that because Taylor is a familiar face that her and Landon’s story will have readers even more invested in the plot line and Taylor’s safety and the added suspense and the anticipation of the stalker striking also will keep readers’ interest and have them anxiously turning the pages to find out what happens with both Landon and Taylor’s relationship as well as the outcome of a very dangerous situation.
8 men have been selected for the calendar to help raise money for The Fix, which means we’re down 4, and I, for one, can’t wait to see who graces the other months of the year and who J. Kenner puts in these men’s path to shake up their lives as well as their hearts.
4 Poison Apples
This is the seventh book in the Man of The Month series. Landon and Taylor are so right for each other. They are hot and sexy just add some drama and you have a great read. This is a must read. The book is a fast read too.
This is the 8th book in the Man of the Month series and although very enjoyable, it is not the strongest story or my favorite book in the series, but it is nice to see how the characters progress throughout all the books. Landon thinks Taylor is too young for him, but Taylor has other ideas and when Landon agrees to protect Taylor when she has a stalker, things heat up. Can Taylor trust enough to let someone into her life and ultimately her heart?
This Man of the Month story is about Taylor and Landon. Landon is a police detective and Taylor is a grad student who does work for The Fix. Landon does the guys from The Fix a favor and helps Taylor with a stalker situation she’s facing.
There is an age gap (not too big and not taboo), and neither one of them are wanting to be in a relationship for career reasons and demons in their pasts. But they have a lot of chemistry. There is a little suspense in the story, and some great sexy scenes. It was a quick and enjoyable read.
Taylor is being stalked and the threats are increasing. The problem is she is pretty sure who is doing the stalking and he is dangerous, extremely dangerous. She turns to Brent, the head of security at The Fix, for help who enlists Landon who is a police officer on vacation to help. Landon has been intrigued by Taylor for quite a while but he thinks she is too young for him but he is not going to let anything happen to her. Close quarters and all that chemistry, so much chemistry is sizzled off my kindle, and the age difference is nothing when two people are meant for each other. This one, as with all the Man of the Month books, can be read as a standalone, and we are treated with cameos of regulars from The Fix. I definitely recommend this one!
Taylor and Landon literally ran into each other outside of the Fix. They are both attracted but holding back for various reasons. When Taylor starts getting strange notes and messages Landon is brought in as a favor and because he’s a cop. At first, they assume its guy at her school who asked her out but she turned down. She doesn’t want to believe the past has come back to haunt her. Landon and Taylor act as a couple to entice him out of hiding. Will Landon keep her safe? Will they catch the stalker? Will they both stop fighting their feelings?
