There are a million reasons why I need to stop thinking about Taylor D’Angelo naked. She’s too young for me, for starters. She’s too ambitious. She’s my job.Romance was the last thing on my mind when I agreed to look into her stalker as a favor. Now, she’s all I can think about–and in every position I can imagine.I’m not the only one obsessing. The threats against her are intensifying along with our … obsessing.
The threats against her are intensifying along with our connection.
If I give in, if I let our bodies take over, it could draw her stalker out.
Our passion could save her.
Or it could destroy us both.
Meet Mr. August – He’ll do anything to protect her.

“My reputation precedes me. It’s one I’ve earned notch by notch, gig after gig.”
Tulsa is the baby Crow brother. He takes his cocky attitude and manwhore status very seriously and has got his smoldering smirk down to a science. He’s got all the girls falling at his feet, but not her. Nope, she’s his forbidden fantasy. Driving him crazy with lust but off-limits. The Crows Brothers band is opening for The Resistance, and Faris Wheel is opening for them. And Nikki Faris, she’s a really bad idea that he can’t stop thinking about. He wants her…
Nikki Faris is the lead singer who knows better than to get involved with the sexy drummer from another band. They are all on tour together and have been warned not to do anything that might jeopardize it. He is trouble with a capital ‘T’ and all she can think about. He’s got her in a #TulsaDaze and when he calls her darlin’ she drunkenly confesses, “When you say it with your accent, I want to take off my panties. Why does it affect me like that?”
What fun I had reading this story as I waited for their lust to take over and their clothes to fall off. With each of them being in a band with their siblings it was an even worse idea for them to give in to temptation with a higher risk of getting caught. Everyone knows that your own brother can tell when you’re hiding something, right? Would the reward be worth the risk?
I am addicted to rockstar romance and having not one, but three bands in a single story was a treat too delicious to describe. I couldn’t decide which band t-shirt to wear to the concert or which tour bus to stow away on. But after spending some quality time with the misunderstood drummer, he won me over and with his #Boop and #TheTulsaSpecial. Once I got past his arrogance and saw the big heart he was hiding I knew he was exactly what Nikki needed. Would he ever get the chance to prove it to her? His brother warned, “Be careful. The past has a way of catching up with your future.”
As I’ve come to expect, the author kept me guessing. Not only was I caught up in the sweet and sexy, she threw in some secrets and suspense to keep me on edge. One minute I was rushing toward the finish line and the next I was reading slower because I didn’t want to reach it yet. I can’t get enough of her amazing characters and I’m so looking forward to the next book. I’m guessing it will feature Rivers, the third Crow brother. But there are other characters that I’d love to spend more time with too. I’ve got my fingers crossed that I’ll get a backstage pass to a meet-and-greet with the other Faris Wheel band members. The line forms here…

I purchased a copy of the steamy short novel Shake It UP: A Man Of The Month Novel book 8 by J. Kenner and this review was given freely.
A suspenseful attraction at first sight novel between Derek’s friend Police Detective Landon and college student/The Fix’s Man of the Month stage manager Taylor.
Wow, this book is simply amazing. This I the perfect title to describe Easton and Selma. They just have this chemistry that makes everyone take notice. I love the fact that dreams they have is taking root and the fear is being feared head on. This book is full of possibilities, but in the end truth and justice was prevailed.
Love this whole series
Shake It Up by J. Kenner is the eighth book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is the story of Landon and Taylor, the broody detective and the damsel in distress.
Taylor’s life is in danger. That much is clear. When Brent, her boss at The Fix, enlists the help of his detective friend, Landon, to watch over her while he is on vacation, he doesn’t realize that the attraction between them will reach explosive levels.
Landon tries to keep his distance from this beautiful woman, but being forced together under the circumstances doesn’t allow him the distance he might ned to quell his desires. Despite his best efforts, the two of them begin to fall for one another. But danger is still looming close and it’s now up to Landon to end Taylor’s problems, once and for all.
Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I’m excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!
meh, other books in series are wayyyy better
Intense and definitely heated. Taylor has a past and Landon is here to rescue her from it. I love how Kenner has created two characters with tumultuous childhood experiences and shown us how they can overcome and create positive lives. Those terrible experiences are what help Landon and Taylor bond so much, and their chemistry just makes it that much more heated.
I absolutely love this series. They’re all fast reads, but each book covers a different story trope. In Shake it Up, J Kenner breaks away from the “friendly” romantic variations (e.g. friends to lovers, second chance, etc.) and introduces us to a little danger in this romantic suspense story between Taylor and Landon. This story focuses on Taylor, who stage manages the bi-weekly Man of the Month contests, and Landon, Austin PD detective, friend to Derek (who is Mr. July), and a semi-regular at The Fix.
I love the strong friendships amongst the regulars at The Fix and the way the author has them interlinking. When one of their own is threatened, they rally around to play their part in protecting Taylor. The heat level of Taylor and Landon’s relationship matches the intensity of all the other couples we’ve met, which means the romance sizzles! I enjoyed the suspense this story brought to the series, just to “shake it up” a bit, and liked the way it played out. The suspense doesn’t drag out since this stand-alone book is relatively short, compared to Kenner’s original Stark trilogy or her SIN series. If you enjoy romantic suspense, definitely dive into the world of Stark International Novel with Dallas Sykes and Jane Martin.
I was provided a copy of this book so that I could leave an honest review.
Man of the month continues. Another great read. I love how each book is a standalone, but to get the full feel of the series, one should read them all. I love seeing bits and pieces of past and future men of the month.
I liked how Taylor and Landon’s relationship turned out. Can’t wait for Mr September takes us.
Great job!!!
Another quick read. This series is perfect for getting a quick fix for a bit of sexy romance.
Landon and Taylor’s story was filled with wonderful chemistry and lots of suspense. With Taylor as the strong woman trying her best to make it on her own and Landon stepping in to protect her when she needs it, their story was a quick build up trust-resulting in a speedy evolution from friendship to love.
Perfect for in between book hangovers or filling those couple of hours when you want to sneak in a good romance.
INCREDIBLE READ!

Oh man, I truly enjoyed this one. The series has been amazing, and every books keeps outdoing the last for me. But this one I found to be a bit more intriguing and a bit suspenseful than the rest.
In the book we meet Taylor and Landon. She is trying to make a life for herself. leaving behind a past she never thought would ever find her. Landon is a cop, loves his job of protecting and catching bad men. He is put on a mission of protecting Taylor from her stocker. Both find themselves unable to stay away from each other. But who is Taylor stocker? Finding out and keeping her safe becomes Landon mission. And trusting him and feeling safe confuses Taylor.
This story was super cute. every Man of the Month brings a different but enjoyable story. Im enjoying keep close to all the characters. Sometimes I find myself wanting to be inside worlds. I want to go hang out in The Fix. Kenner is one of my favorite writers, and no matter what she writes, she always gives nothing but the best.
Man of month Mr August
Taylor D’Angelo has moved to escape her past or so she thought. When notes start arriving she knows her past has caught up with her. With the help of Brent The Fix’s security he calls on the help of his friend Landon Ware.
But the thing is Landon wants Taylor and he knows he is too old for her and she is too young but with Taylor’s stalker around he knows he has to keep his head in the game and not in all the ways he would have Taylor.
Taylor has seen Landon around and now he is her protector she feels a connection but she knows she is too young for Landon, does he feel the same about her? But then the threats from her stalker take a step up. So with the idea of getting the stalker to come out from the dark could the ruse they play be enough or will it lead to much more?
Urgh this series of books has me wanting more,
Can be read as a standalone but I say read all the books. It will be the best money you have spent.
You gotta love a protector. Landon is a stand up guy… would love to have a guy like him in my corner… bedroom etc… Ms Kenner just keeps giving us the best men! KEEP THEM COMING!
Things are really heating up in August, thanks to this latest release in the Man of the Month series and boy does the storyline fit the title. Taylor has a past that is coming back to haunt her and she needs help as she makes the decision to stay and stop running. Landon is the police officer who is tasked with keeping Taylor safe while he is on vacation from his duties. In order to accomplish the assignment, the two pretend to be a couple. The only problem with that is they both are highly attracted to one another. Landon has issues with Taylor’s age and there are times when he uses his former relationship with his ex-wife to rein in his feelings for her. This may not be a bad thing as Taylor is tight lipped about her past and why she believes this is happening to her. Can the two work out their differences? Can they find a way to trust each other and make a life for themselves together? The author has created wonderful characters that anyone can relate to. From the beginning, the reader cannot help but be invested in Taylor and Landon as they are so perfect for each other. The artistry that Ms. Kenner uses to bring these characters to life is unparalleled. I highly recommend this book and the others in the series and look forward to number nine!
I volunteered to read an arc copy of this book.
Taylor and Landon was an amazing couple. Taylor thought she left her pass behind her for it to come back full circle. But Landon was determine to protect her at all cost.

Ok, this is the 8th in the series, and while you don’t really have to read them in order… it would just make more sense to do so. These are only getting better with each instalment. Taylor works the Man of the Month contests, with dreams of going to L.A. and becoming a big star one day. All it took was one look at Landon for her to develop a crush. But Landon is a cop and with Taylor’s past, its better to just steer clear. That is until Taylor starts getting threatening notes, and the obvious signs of being stalked. Landon willingly takes on Taylor’s stalking problem, for him its about keeping Taylor safe, but at the same time being able to get closer to her. It seems Taylor wasn’t the only one with a little crush, but when the truth of Taylor’s past comes out, will Landon still be as eager to be by her side?
This was FABULOUS! With drama, danger, a bit of violence, sexy times that were just yummy; all the makings of a great story. I give this 5 stars.
I love a good suspense romance and Julie knocked it out of the park with Shake It Up, the eighth addition to her Man of the Month series that is shaking up the romance world! I have felt like these books have been fun, easy to get lost in on a weekend afternoon, but Mr. August was a scorcher that I just couldn’t put down.
The protector. The enforcer in Landon was HOT HOT HOT and the chemistry between him and Taylor was perfect. Add in the stalker… making this book a fast page turner for sure!
“But the bottom line is that I’m watching over you. That’s it. The end. So deal the f@#k with it, okay?”
“Their eyes met, and for a moment, it was just the two of them. No victim. No detective.”
Each book is a standalone, but I will mention and advise to read the books in order as the characters inter mingle throughout. The couples that pair up are brought forth and if your not up to date on who’s with who, it could become confusing.
I am in awe with J. Kenner in that she is releasing these novels so fast, yet, each one has sky rocketed off the charts. It just goes to show that she is an impeccable author who can write an collective style of romance and still soars triumphantly.

Ruthie –
This is the eighth book in the series – so we are expecting to meet Mr. August! Do make sure you read these in order, as the underlying story and many of the characters run through every book.
I am loving how we are being shown into the deepest elements of people that have been in the story all along. Taylor has been a fun part of the girl gang so far, but now we discover that she has overcome some very dark and difficult times in her past. And sadly, they may be about to re-enter her life and ruin it forever. Fortunately, her friends at The Fix may just have the power to help her… if she lets them. And Taylor shows great strength in doing just that – trusting her friends to help her. It has the added bonus of meaning that the man she has been crushing on for a while, Landon, is the one to step forward.
Landon is so glad that he is getting a chance to show Taylor he cares; in fact, by the end we get the very romantic ending that we want. But I shall leave you to find out how it all works out!
Once again the epilogue gives us a big hint as to what is in store for book nine.
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Shake It Up (Man of the Month #8) by J. Kenner to read and review.
I love this series. All the books can be read as stand-alones but you get more out of it if you read it from the January on because the characters from the other books will pop up in the most recent books.
Mr. August, Landon Ware, is an Austin Police detective who finds Taylor D’Angelo attractive when they first ran into each other at The Fix on Sixth, a bar that Landon frequents and is also friends with one of the owners and where Taylor is working for the Man of the Month contests. It appears that Taylor is being stalked so Brent, one of the owners of the Fix on Sixth, asks Landon to help find the stalker. As the stalker escalates, Taylor and Landon are “stuck” together until Landon can find the stalker. The closeness brings their attraction out in force and they finally act on it. They are both very in sync with each other and love to spend time together. As they uncover new information, Taylor realizes she knows who her stalker is and lets Landon know but won’t talk about the history that she and her stalker have together other than to say that the stalker is dangerous.
Landon is hurt and hopes that Taylor will eventually trusts him to let him know about her past. Taylor re-evaluates what she wants for her future but also needs to find out what Landon wants to make sure they are both on the same page. The 2 of them must decide what they want for their future, together and individually.
I can’t wait for the next book, Mr. September! Thanks for another great story Julie!
