It’s been one of those mornings for Allie Sinclair, and it’s only getting worse. She should be interviewing for her dream job at Hart Enterprises; instead, she’s trapped in their elevator after a power outage caused by a lightning strike. She’s late, she’s soaked from running through the storm – and she’s not alone. Trapped along with her is the devastatingly sexy Nate, a one-time Lothario who … Lothario who has recently sworn off casual sex – especially with anyone associated with Hart Enterprises.
The mutual attraction is instant, and despite their best efforts, the two soon succumb to temptation…but at what cost?
Allie’s had her fair share of unreliable men in the past, and she knows that Nate is not what she needs – but what if he’s what she wants?
And Nate isn’t looking for anyone – but what if he’s found the one?
Sparks will fly in the new steamy romance from the best-selling author of ‘Wallflower.
One thing’s for sure: it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

This is a steamy story about two strangers, a chance meeting and an elevator. Though the story is short it was a fun read and let me wanting more. I would love to see another book starting where this novella left off.
I choose this story because one, it was on the shorter side and I love to read these between longer reads; and two because I was intrigued how and entire story could be pulled off in such an enclosed space.
The story switches between the POV of Allie and Nate. It was great to get into both of these characters and be inside their thoughts. Allie is looking to interview for her dream job, she is determined and hardworking, smart and a bit funny. Nate, works in the building and finds himself stuck with the most beautiful woman he can imagine. I liked his rules (though he really didn’t need them,LOL) and found his sass fun.
I would have like a bit more dialogue between these two while they are in the elevator I felt like I spent too much time inside their thoughts and not enough in the moment. Also I have didn’t care for the way the author re-played the last scene In the other characters point of view after each chapter. I know what happened and felt it a bit redundant (but that is purely personal preference). I did like that I felt like I was in the elevator with these two and felt like a voyeur a time or two, LOL. What a way to spend a few hours!
I will leave my review here as I don’t want to spoil anything but my favorite part of the story was the ending! I could read more in this world, that’s for sure.
I have not read this author before and did enjoy this story and will look into he other works. I recommend this story to those looking for a fast, easy read that will take you out of reality for a good hour or so
When I picked up Shaft by Krista Gold, I had no expectations going in, because to me novellas are good for series that already have full length books that have been written before them. But I am wrong. Shaft is only 37 short chapters, but it is long enough to capture your attention and keep it. The chemistry between the two leads sizzles and you won’t be able to put it down. I didn’t.
Life for Allie has sucked lately and she is in desperate need of a job. She’s lucky enough to procure a interview with Lionel Hart of Hart Enterprises. This is where the fun begins. When she sees, one of the sexiest men alive.
While Nate thinks today is just some ordinary work day. In my opinion he was very bored with his lifestyle. In EVERY aspect. And Nate, well Nate, for intents is a self proclaimed man whore, at least he admits it. He’s also not very egotistical, thankfully.
But you know fate has a funny way of showing you that life is very unpredictable. And it can change in a instant. I’d like to think that everyone has experience this sort of connection. That zing you get when you like someone, when the chemistry is just right. Your heart kicks up several notches and your blood races through your veins.
Then…
They both enter the elevator.
Then the power goes out.
And they’re left in the dark with nothing but their emotions…
What do you think can happen?
Buy the book, find out for yourself. I gave this 5 stars for capturing my attention and proving my opinion of novellas wrong. And THANKS to Krista for telling me that a full-length version is on the way!
What happens when you get stuck in an elevator with a hot and sexy god of a man?! In Shaft by Krista Gold, Allie is running late for an interview with the CEO of Hart Enterprises for an Executive Assistant position. After finally finding a parking spot, she gets soaked on her way to the building and then to make matters worse the power goes out while she’s in the elevator, leaving her stranded with the hottest guys she’s ever laid eyes on. What happens next is steamy, intense and at the end, the author throws in a whopper of a twist. This book is setup to have a series and I’m really hoping the author writes a follow up because I am invested in Allie and Nate now and want to know what happens next.
What happens when two strangers find themselves stuck in an elevator together? Sparks fly when Allie Sinclair shows up for a job interview only to get caught in the elevator with temptation incarnate.
This novella is a quick, flirty, HOT read sure to make you look at elevators just a little differently!!! Krista gold did a great job writing a story that allowed you to feel right along with the characters in a setting that would challenge even the most seasoned authors.
This is one of the best novella’s I’ve ever read.
Allie is having a crap show of a morning with absolutely nothing going right. How could it get any worse you ask? Well getting stuck in a elevator is the answer.
This is surprisingly detailed and intricately woven with a great foundation, a teasing but informative and exciting middle and a very satisfying conclusion. Now this is a novella so don’t expect to have everything. You are basically getting the how the what and where to Allie and Nate, but not the full story. This is just how they meet. When I tell you the chemistry is real!! Phewwee. It’s HAWT.
Allie as a character is super relatable and easy to love. She’s strong, witty and not afraid to hold her ground. Everything thing I love in a heroine basically. Nate is lethal. He’s dominant, sweet and broody.. not a snack, a whole damn meal. I laughed, swooned and enjoyed the hell out of their swift and unconventional but steamy meeting and was definitely left WANTING NEEDING MORE. This is a great foundation for what I have a feeling will be a interesting journey for them both.
This story is a special jewel. Despite it being short nothing felt rushed or forced. It paced perfectly and this author writes in a way that had me envisioning everything. I was completely consumed in their story and I CANNOT wait to see where it goes. Can I have it, like now?
Shaft by Krista Gold. What can I say, for an author that i’ve never heard of this book was hot. For a dual p.o.v book most the story was told by inner monologue as their thoughts, not too much spoken dialogue was emitted. But the way the author describes everything gives you a clear image of what the scene looks like.
This story introduces us to Alexandra ‘Allie’ Sinclair and Jonathan ‘Nate’ Hart.
Allie is already having the morning from hell and after getting drenched from the rain on her way to a job interview her bad luck continues when the elevator she is on comes to a halt due to a power outage. Not only does she need the money but she actually wants this job, working as the assistant to the CEO of Hart Enterprises, she only hopes she doesn’t lose the chance after being stuck in the elevator.
Nate Hart is the son of Lionel Hart, CEO of Hart Enterprises. He is tired of casual meaningless sex and has made a rule for himself. All that is about to go out the window when he sets eyes on Allie. Being the gentleman that he is he offers Allie his jacket when he notices her shivering and wet from the rain.
During their time in the elevator the relationship seems very push pull. They both react negatively but are then drawn to each other like magnets. What do you think will happen with these two stuck in the elevator?
Like I said, this story was hot! You can feel the attraction and chemistry and the scenes are explosive. The only downfall is the abrupt ending. While it leaves room for the author to expand the story there are no teasers of a follow up or epilogue or anything which leaves you wanting more with no where to go. However it is a good quick lunchtime read if you’re in the mood for something steamy.
I was recommended this book when the author approached me on Instagram and am glad that she approached me otherwise I may have never read her work. Thanks January.
Just a quick & dirty tidbit from me today!
Allie Sinclair’s day has gone to hell in a hand basket. After arriving late and dripping wet for an interview for her dream job, Allie gets stuck in an elevator with a sexy temptation named Nate thanks to a power outage. The attraction between the two is instant and electrifying, but can it ever be more than a once in a lifetime experience? Will Allie stand up for herself and what she really wants in life & in love?
Shaft is my first experience with Krista Gold’s writing and it made a great impression. When I was told this novella takes place almost entirely in an elevator, I was intrigued and knew I had to give it a shot. Krista Gold did a wonderful job with the pacing of the story and her writing flowed smoothly throughout the entire story.
Nate and Allie are both excellent characters and fit this fun, sexy story perfectly. I’m not typically an insta-love/insta-hookup type of reader, but the chemistry between Nate and Allie was undeniable and Krista Gold may have converted me.
When I reached the last page of Shaft, I wanted more of Nate and Allie immediately. I will definitely be reading the full length sequel to Shaft when it releases!
4.5/5
Shaft is a novella written by Krista Gold, a new author to me. Allie, is seeking employment, and not having a good start. When Allie goes into the elevator, she did not realize her day was about to get worse. Nate gets on the elevator with her, with a storm brewing outside the power goes out and they are stuck together. Nate is a sweet guy, but he is a man with deep notches on his bedpost. When he sees Allie, it’s instant attraction and thoughts are brewing. He can’t seem to stop his crazy thoughts.
“For the life of me, I don’t know what is different about this one. I only know that I want her. And I don’t want anyone else to have her.”
This is a novella that is hot and steamy. I’m sure if the elevator had glass doors, they would have been fog up. Allie and Nate are hot together, have lots of chemistry. From what I gather by the ending of the story, it will be continuing, and I for one am intrigued.
ღ Wow this book was absolutely great, This new author for me
I fell in love with right away
I met Krista Gold on Instagram & she was easy to chat with specially with me being so shy… I’m so glad that I pick up her book. It was very short & sexy read. I enjoyed her Writing skills. The characters are believable!
Let just say that that Allie Sinclair was having the worse day of her young life,, & from what I can tell things were only get worse( or did they?
Allie knew the last thing she need is to turn up for her interview at Hart Enterprises looking like she about to have a nervous breakdown. (Which mind you is was having) …The interview is for a high-pressure Executive Assistant role, for the one & only Lionel Hart
Allie is basically 5 minutes shy to being late for interview, when gets into the get into the elevator with Mr. Sexy, before she know it that darn elevator stops & lights go out.
Now Allie stuck in a elevator with Mr. Sexy & her mind is no longer on her interview, but on how cold & wet she is -literally in more ways than she should
I really like to read more about Nate & Allie… I know about you , but I’d like to know what happen on Monday !
Thank you, Krista Gold, for opening my eyes to how fun elevator can be
Hope you enjoy this read & also always keep in mind this is just my opinion & my honest review Also I wouldn’t discourage anyone from reading it.
Paulette Review
This book was sweet and sassy, funny and sexy and left me wanting more. I was disappointed when we got to the end because I feel like we just got started with Allie and Nate and they still have more to tell us.

The first book that I read about this new author and I am delighted. A short, quick and fun reading. I will love to read more of it cause she has another one out there. Mainly I liked that when she changed the narration of each character, of Allie and changed to speak Nate, or vice versa, not only took it from where they had left but took moments before. So you could know at a key moment what they both thought, without losing that information when changing the narrator.
Our protagonist, Allie, has a bad morning, she is already late and soaked when she gets to the elevator to go to a job interview at her dream job in Hart Enterprises. Everything was stressful for her until Nate appears, who enters the elevator with her, and there is an instant attraction. When the lift stops due to a power cut, the chemistry is on the surface, in a small space, and during a long wait.
I enjoyed this novel and I loved the writing because it is casual and authentic. The truth that the way of thinking of her about Nate and about herself seemed very real to me, cause that is what most of us would think, and I loved that. The end lets me glimpse that there may be more to come for this couple and hopefully so. I thought it was going to end up in a way, so I took the true ending by surprise, but it was great.. Also how Allie faced the end of the book was incredible.

Five stars! This novella was perfect and I enjoyed every second of reading it. This was my first book by this author and I can definitely say that I really love her writing style and look forward to what she does next!
Allie and Nate were so good together and I love books that are told from different points of views, so I really liked reading the story from both Allie’s and Nate’s perspective.
The ending DEFINITELY left me wanting more, I would love to see where it goes and what ends up happening! LOVED IT!
I loved this… It’s obviously a novella, very fast paced, witty, and extremely steamy. What more could you ask for.
Very well written, great characters, and overall fun read.
This was a light and easy read. I kind of love the “couple stuck in an elevator gets it on” trope, and Shaft did it well. I do have to admit, there were some outstandingly cliched moments (Nate being a manwhore, Allie not knowing she was beautiful) but it was still an enjoyable read.
I do have one major criticism. The ending was so abrupt. One page I’m reading, wondering what will happen next. And then it was over.
I feel a lack of closure; it feels incomplete.
Shaft had so much potential to be a great start to a series. The sex scenes were well written and good dialogue between our Hero and Heroine. It was enough to keep me interested in following Krista Gold for more!
Shaft by Krista Gold, set in a stalled elevator, is everything you want in a novella. It’s quick, it’s dirty, and jam packed with a connection between characters I just can’t get enough of!
They say what can go wrong will, and that statement couldn’t be more true for Allie. After a string of bad luck, Allie desperately needs for things to turn around, starting with killing it in her job interview. Mother nature has other plans though, as a storm causes the elevator she’s riding in with a handsome stranger, to come to an abrupt stop. Already late and soaked to the bone by the storm, Allie’s morning just got a whole lot worse. Or did it? Nate, aka recovering playboy, can’t seem to control his thoughts about the striking and shivering redhead on the other side of the elevator. He doesn’t understand the instant connection he feels with a stranger. There’s an electric charge in the air, and it’s certainly not from the power outage. Dive into this short and sexy story today!
I absolutely loved the concept and setting for this novella! The dual point of view worked so well here, and author Krista Gold flowed easily from hero to heroine perspectives. I so loved these characters and think there’s a deeper story to be told here. I’m dying, begging, pleading for this to be a prequel to a full length novel! Fingers crossed y’all. Enjoy xo
This was a quick, hot read along the lines of Alexa Riley. Allie and Nate have instant chemistry. They try not to act on it, but are trapped in the elevator and decide to just go for it. I thought it as very well written, but the ending was a bit abrupt and incomplete. I’m hopping we will see these two again and get more of their story!
I didn’t like the characters or the ending. The ending felt so incomplete like the story wasn’t finished. There really isn’t anything to the book, and nothing unique stood out to me. Instead of plotting revenge, you should plan better plots, REAL plots that pull a romance reader into the book instead of an elevator screw with a incomplete ending.
If you are in the mood for a quick steamy read then this is for you. It starts with Allie on the way to an interview. She finally gets there and gets into the elevator. In steps Nate. On the way up the power goes out. What ensues is at sometimes funny. Sometimes steamy. And the ending made me want more of Allie and Nate!
This was quite the enjoyable short fantasy read, sex while trapped in a broken down elevator with an handsome stranger. Allie and Nate were both very likable characters that had a deep physical chemistry between them. It was apparent that they were going to be acting upon this attraction as soon as we were introduced to them both. I really liked their story and loved the way that Allie got the chance to show her strong and sassy side to her personality towards the end of the book. I was over her here in her corner waving my “Girl Power” banner. I would love to know how and where things go for both Allie and Nate after the little plot twist at the end…
