Night Warden Returns.
It’s been awhile since book one released. Orlando Sanchez, in the first chapter sets the plot, interwoven with reminding the reader who, and what the characters are. Showing us readers what a true Master Wordweaver he is.
Grey and Koda are back on Night Warden patrol. With some help from Frank, who is a bad ass small dragon, I mean Mage…Look out New York City. There are some new creatures running loose. Such as Rummogres, Trollgres. I love this quote: “you look like like I feel”. B 3? battered, bruised & beaten.
Along with nods to other characters, like Fahrenheit 451. There are plenty of Easter eggs for fans of the genre to discover.
An Extremely well crafted book. A satisfying read, you won’t be disappointed.
I had so much fun reading this book! Plenty of action and mayhem, sparkling and snarky dialog, relatable (and evolving) main characters with a delightful cast of side characters. If you enjoy the Montague and Strong world you’ll enjoy this book and the crossovers. And if you aren’t familiar with M&S, this may get you to try them.
My favorite piece of dialog:
“Are you always such as smartass?”
“You still have to ask? Seems you aren’t paying attention. I have advanced degrees in interpersonal smartassery. Working on my doctorate in snarkasm.”
Best practice: don’t eat or drink while reading this, it could get messy.
Brilliant
As if the rummers plaguing the city weren’t bad enough, now Grey has to face a new strain of Redrum, and a dark mage leaving broken bodies of magic wielders in his wake. He and Koda try to face down the threat, all while he tries to come to grips with his tortured soul and his bond to a dark sword. But can they successfully face down fear itself? Full of gritty action and humor that has made this one of my favorite series.
For those of us who were jonesing for a Grey Strider fix, our wait is over. Grey and Koda return to battle the evil forces of Redrum infiltrating the mage community in another non-stop action adventure. This time, the monsters are meaner, the stakes are higher, and Grey and Koda will really have to work on their teamwork to make it out alive. As always, the character driven story is fast paced. The setting is gritty and detailed. The bad guys play for keeps.
