Fantastic story! Characters that will steal your heart. A storyline that keeps you on the edge of your seat and glued to your kindle! For me it was a love- hate deal as the characters face their demons. You will feel their emotions and struggles. A definite must read.

Mellie is left reeling after her husband is murdered. The FBI’s job especially Max’s job is to keep her alive while they sort it out. Mellie openly defies Max’s order to stay away from her husband’s grave. She does not listen and can’t possibly think he means it when he says he will take her over his knee. She pushed him and soon finds that he means it. She continues to try him. Which he responds in like. She also sleepwalks enough he has to tie the two of them together for him to keep her safe. She thinks she might have met her demise toward the end of the story and she wants to live to tell him she loves him and he comes to the same epiphany.
This is another good read and one you will never want to put down until you finish it.

SECOND CHANCES FOR MELANIE
I cannot get enough of this series, and as soon as I see a new addition, I must read it. Once again, Ms. Tessa Carr penned an amazing page-turning thriller that continues from the other two stories in the Cape Danger series, The Blue Lion and Danger Comes In Amber. The story has some of the characters from those stories; it is a mystery, romantic suspense, including danger, and more. The third story will focus on Melanie ‘Mellie’ Jenkins, who is now a widow. It is seven months since the death of her husband, Jim. But there are questionable things regarding his death, and FBI agent, Max Lemons has been keeping watch over her.
The story is full of angst, danger, and unanswered questions. Who is after Mellie, and how does this tie into Jim Jenkins and his death? An unannounced trip to visit his grave and leave flowers almost has her as the next victim. If it weren’t for Max Lemons following her, she would be the next causality. Now, Max will have to take her into protection—but after a safe house was compromised, he decides she must stay with him.
“Max hung up. “I swear, I’m not sure when life got this complicated.”
Mellie was staring at him sadly. “It was when you got involved with me.”
“Not so at all, little girl.”
“No, it’s true, Max, and you know it.”
“That’s tough. You’re stuck with me. No complaining.”
For Max and the FBI, it won’t take long to know who, and even why, Mellie has become the target of a mafia individual. Keeping her safe and trying to piece together the puzzle of Jim’s life is the main mystery. Getting her to accept the truth, to understand that her life is in jeopardy, and she must listen to him, isn’t as easy, she is used to her independence.
“I believe the word is sassy. Or you might try bratty, or insolent, or impudent, or disrespectful and disobedient.”
I love the chemistry between Max and Mellie. For Max and Melanie to be together in seclusion, it leads to more than just protection, it has him dominant over her, spanking her to get her attention, but also the beginnings of exploring a D/s relationship. Will Mellie submit to his dominance? Max is upfront with Mellie, what will happen if they take this further.
“Don’t put words in my mouth, brat. It’ll get you in trouble every time. I don’t know why in the world you’d think I don’t want you. I do, desperately. But it’s been a long time for me, too, and if I take you to bed, I won’t be able to stop. And then, you’ll have to marry me.”
“You hold me—accountable. It makes me feel secure.”
The story has mystery, suspense, danger, and life and death moments. Yes, it has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people. With plenty of love and support, Melanie will learn the difference in people and friends, those who care, and one who loves her enough to risk his own life for her. It will bring out secrets between a couple in their marriage after his death. Did Mellie ever really know Jim? Have his demons come to claim her after his death? How far will one evil person go to destroy another?
With this new series, Cape Danger, I eagerly look forward to the next story.
I’ve never read any of Tessa Carr’s books before, but I will be gobbling up each and every one and waiting with baited breath for the next release.
OMFG!
From the first paragraph to the last, it was on and popping between these two. She was strong willed, independent and sassy and he was not having it.
I enjoyed the dynamics of the “real life” 21st century woes of aN independent woman who desires to be cherished and loved by an alpha dominant man who respects her, but has no problem handling “their” business (her) as he sees fit.
No spoilers here, but the twists and turns of this story are what allowed the heroine to develop the complete trust in main character as opposed to her ex- husband. We should all be so lucky. Indeed, I am swooning and YEP, I want one!!!!
Few minor gaps as story segues from one scene to another, but it all firmly ties in as the suspense mounts and puzzle is finally solved. Man, what a ride though. Very, very entertaining couple of days. I get cranky when my reading is interrupted with a good book-this was ONE.

This third book in the Cape Danger series by Tessa Carr was not only a fast-paced action-adventure story but also an erotic dominant/submissive romance as Max, the FBI agent, tries to keep Melle safe from assassination attempts due to obligations of her late husband and members associated with the Mafia. The action was quick and kept your attention. The dom/sub relationship also kept your attention as it escalated between the two of them, resulting in numerous spankings for her, which ultimately led to a most erotic and sensual sexual relationship between them as well. The author attempted to show the reader some of the key components of a dom/sub relationship, such as the feelings of safety, security, absolution, and love that results after a punishment has been issued. I am eagerly looking forward to other books in this series to add to my TBR file. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Booksprout for Blushing Books.
Mellie has been a widow for seven months. While visiting her husband’s grave, she almost becomes a victim, herself. FBI Agent Max Lemmons has been watching her and saves her, although he has his own way of handling Mellie. Shadows of Green is a suspenseful romance.

The third book in the Cape Danger series with a well written storyline the story kept me turning pages. This is widow Melanie Anne Jenkins and FBI Agent Max Lemons who comes to protect her. There is murder, suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, a mole, villains, and romance. I want to read the next book. This is the third book in this series and I admit I haven’t read the first two but I am about to fix that. I do think that you would probable enjoy this book more if you had read The Blue Lion and Danger Comes in Amber as there are cross over characters and story-lines but after saying that I had no problem following the story line
Melanie ‘Mellie’ Jenkins, has been a widow for seven months and is trying to get her life back on track when she visits her husbands grave to lay flowers she is attacked. Max Lemons is the FBI agent that believes there is more to Jim Jenkins death that meets the eye and he has been following Mellie and is able to save her. Now he demands that she do as he says so that he can get to the bottom of the problem and in the process he will become important to her
This story is full of danger, suspense, and page turning action. This story is about Mellie “Melanie” Jenkins who is a widow. It’s been seven months since her husband died but she still has questions about his death. Max Lemons, an FBI agent, has been watching over Mellie. Someone takes a shot at Mellie when she’s visiting her husband;s grave and Max was there to save her life. I’ll let you find out why someone is after Mellie and if she and Max make it to their HEA. HIghly recommend this story. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Mellie is the owner of the antique shop, and we’ve seen her as a good friend to Amber in previous books. After the trauma of her capture and the trial, she is also recovering her life, and the book opens with her visiting her husband’s grave – against the orders of the agent trying to keep her alive – and, no real surprise, she’s attacked. Mellie was, at times, almost incredibly annoying; I’d have spanked her myself. Max, the FBI agent looking after her, is both patient and demanding, and, when Mellie realizes the extent of the danger she’s in, she is able to let him take over. One of the standout scenes in this book for me was when Mellie realized that her store was compromised, and her first action was to call the employees and have then close up. She didn’t hesitate – their lives were more important. And that, in a nutshell, is why Tessa Carr’s characters are so powerful; they become both human and relatable. I am really looking forward to the other colors in this series.

This book divides me right down the middle. I loved the mystery and intrigue, the whole mafia storyline. It’s so well written and kept me desperately flipping pages to find out how all the deceptions would play out. It was the relationship between Max and Mellie that didn’t work for me at all. I’m trying very hard to remain fair and balanced about this even though I spent most of my reading time giving the book a hard side-eye. I didn’t like the way Mellie was introduced to the Lifestyle. I really dislike “yank ‘n’ spank” and I’m even less fond of it being used on someone who hasn’t even consented to this kind of a relationship. I didn’t like that Max kept calling Mellie a “brat” when her behavior was that of any normal non-Lifestyle person being confronted with a whole bunch of unfamiliar Lifestyle concepts. I appreciate that there was a conversation about safewords. I’m less impressed that it doesn’t happen until almost half-way through the book and the heroine has already been treated to multiple “yank ‘n’ spank” sessions by this time, though. I’m holding out hope. I loved the first book in this series, and I’m still interested in finding out what happens next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
This is another sweet love story and my only real concern was the characterization of the Mafia, they just didn’t ring true they were far too nice. There were also references to BDSM but there is really only spanking so don’t let that influence you. On the whole this was another love story in the midst of a threat against Mellie. Max was her saviour and her lover. Amber and Alex appear prominently in this book as well and it ties back to Danger comes in Amber. All in all a light and lovely romance.
This book left me perplexed in so many ways. Authors have some creative license to suspend reality to some degree in order to move the story forward. In many instances this requires some leaps of logic for the reader – usually in the realms of reality is worse – the way the author does this is better. In this book, it is the exact opposite. I had to suspend belief in a manner where the intricacies in the author’s story is a mish-mash of ’80s technology (let’s draw millions in cash as cheques and ETF just don’t exist in this reality), bad cop movies – FBI is portrayed as some weird organisation that I still cannot fathom but who was only keeping the h safe and not investigating her husband’s murder, and background plot points added at incongruous moments of the story.
*Spoiler alert* the h did not need to have a fear for water (which we know of only because she ONCE got scared in the shower while washing her hair!) for the ending to be dramatic with h bound and gagged while thrown in. It added no value. The “suspense” and death threat was laughable at best. The detail on the mafia side of the story did not pull the story forward and seem to be only filler to no real end.
H and h heat level was just above a simmer but the sexy scenes were written well enough.

This story starts 7 months after Mellie’s husband’s death. She is putting flowers on his grave and is shot at. She is saved by Max, who is none too happy that she is there. Now, I know this is fiction, but attracted to a man or not, I would never allow him to spank without my consent. His butt would be in jail. But Mellie is naive and she has been exposed to D/s through her friends relationships and doesn’t realize that she can say no and make it stick. I am not as fond of Max. He is very bossy (I can’t think of a better word). It’s his way with no discussion. He spanks her several times before they talk about safewords. He calls her a brat because she asks questions that a normal person would ask. It does get better once they talk and she consents. There is a HEA and I did enjoy the story. This is book 3 in a series that I haven’t read books 1 & 2 of & I admit it did take me a little while to really get a feel for the story. There is a good prologue which helps significantly. While I did enjoy this story as a standalone there is a feeling that it really does make up part of a more complete series compilation, so some readers may need to take that into consideration. After my slow start I ended up liking this story more than I initially thought that I would & I really enjoyed the interaction between Mellie & Max which a lot of the time was quite fun & sassy.
