My name is Haldin Raish. Legionnaire. And the High General just murdered my parents. My dad was well respected in the Legion. Always had a reputation for doing the right thing, no matter the cost. He was a good man. And whatever he stumbled onto got them both killed. Messily. Now, that red-eyed thing is coming for me.It walks like the High General. Talks like him, too. But it’s not. Human beings … like him, too. But it’s not. Human beings don’t shirk off gunfire and smack grown men across the room like that. Not even High Generals. And he’s not the only one.
The only reason I’m alive is Carlisle. I still don’t understand how he found me that night, or how he does the things he does. Telekinesis. Inhuman speed. He tells me I can do these things too. I’m pretty sure he’s insane. Or one of them.
But if the crazy bastard can help me get another shot at the thing that murdered my parents, well then… sign me up.
These things picked the wrong planet to mess with.

“For ours is not to ask, but to serve.”
An excellent start to a new series, focused on the Enochians and their frightening discovery of red eyed aliens infliltrated in the highest echelons of the government and military force and its implications.
Exciting from the beginning, the awaking of mental powers, the growing resistance, the battles… all dosed with high quality tension, gripping and thought provoking. The essence of survival, determination and strength is very emotive and compelling. The Fast paced, action driven and no respite is nerve wrecking and thrilling! The lives of the characters is so vivid and realistic I couldn’t help but be drawn into the story. The in-depth and characters’ backgrounds of both Enochians and the evil aliens is gratifying, different point of views that had me thoughtful throughout the book. It captured me from the beginning!
Mitchell, once again demonstrates his high creative imagination.
Looking forward to the rest of the series! I highly recommend it!
My oh my, Luke Mitchell, has come through for us readers big time.
This story about Haldin Raish, a teenager caught up in a maelstrom he doesn’t understand and finds out he has powers beyond his wildest dreams. He learns to use them by a man that becomes his mentor/best friend to fight against an alien presence that has invaded their planet Enochia.
This book was very well written. Even though it is a spin off from the Harvester Series, anyone can pick this book up and read it and understand everything that is going on.
The characters are so well developed you feel for them. You hurt with them, you cheer for them, and you cry for them. I can’t count the times I welled up with emotions reading this book. Hal is a very likeable character. You want to see him succeed. See him please his mentor. See him get his glory and revenge. See him fall in love with the beautiful girl.
This book has a lot of action. Don’t let my talk of gooey emotions make you not want to buy this book. There are a lot of fights and alien beatings to make any man proud to read this book. Not to mention the mind control. You’ll have to read this to find out what I mean.
All and all, this book is for everyone looking for a damn good book. Thrills, spills, action, love, conquest, this book has it all. I highly recommend it. Thank you, Luke Mitchell for a smashing good read!
If you enjoyed the Harvesters series, Shadows of Divinity is a certain must read for you. If you haven’t read that series yet, this one can be read first since it comes before that series. In Harvesters, I wasn’t that interested in Hal’s character, so I started this story that focuses on he and Elise with some hesitation. Totally misplaced. The author used this story to tell the story of Hal’s family, how he came to acquire Jedi-like powers, and of course how he and Elise fell in love. I got wrapped up in it and really enjoyed it.
