I am strictly a Christian fiction fan. If I’m going to do something for entertainment, I rather read a good book by a Christian author. I have a say so in books where I don’t always have in television, if that makes sense. That said, I truly enjoy a story where characters really live their faith, and the author tells it! I’ve read a few authors who do this, and this book by Elle E. Kay (my first of her books), does this very well! Great story, with enough realism, you’ll feel it. I have great hopes for the remaining books in this series!
This was my first read by this author and I really enjoyed it. Sometimes it seems strange to enjoy a sad, mystery type story but you do. The author created every character so different but to me the two main characters, Stella and Jason, were so well written, believable and likeable. You were routing for Stella to pull through and realized, as she did, that she’s a very strong woman.
The story was about Stella who had left home when she was young, got pregnant by rape and returned to her home to try to get her life back together. She certainly didn’t have an easy time. She was welcome and turned back to her faith and church. She meets a nice man, Jason, and feelings were felt between the two. But the person who raped her was out to get her and kidnaps her just after giving birth to her son. The kidnapper is a crazy man and keeps Stella in an old mine. Jason does everything he can to find her with and without the help of the law. The story has a lot of twists and turns but I just really loved the strength Stella had and the drive Jason had to get through everything. It was a good read and I look forward to reading more from this author.
Much like the rest of us, in trying to assert her independence and become an adult, Stella placed herself in a position to be hurt with lasting consequences. Stella left the protection of parents and home to attend school in another state. Although for the most part she stuck to a moral and safe path, she chose one night to accompany friends to a club. When she awoke the next morning in a strange hotel, she knew she had “messed up.”
God’s grace took this pregnant young woman back to her parents and the possibility of love and family, despite her fear of all men. Read this absolutely wonderful book to discover how God allows Stella to walk through problems unfaced by most of us and come out victorious. Great work, Elle K. Kay! I can’t wait to get to your next book.
Shadowing Stella has a great plot with lots of twists and turns. Stella and Jason are likable characters that I found easy to relate to. I appreciated that Stella’s father, a pastor, welcomed her home with open arms and heart. Claudia, Stella’s younger sister is a very interesting character. There’s a sweet HEA and a great epilogue. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion.
Trigger warning: date rape and kidnapping
This is a wonderful Christian Contemporary Suspense Romance! I had a hard time listening at first because of the triggers mentioned above, but once I got past that first trigger if was all good! Elle writes a tender emotional story and keeps the focus on God’s love and redeeming power!
The narrator was a tiny bit choppy in her presentation, but overall she did great! The characters were easy to identify and she had a large variety to create! I definitely recommend this audiobook and both the author and narrator! I look forward to more from both of them!
This is full of suspense. I’m thankful for the Christian aspect of the book, and how it shows that trials also come to those who serve. The characters were well developed and most were enjoyable. I also liked the forgiveness shown by some. All that being said, it was a long listen and wasn’t quite the type of book I would normally like.
This story flows nicely from scene to scene telling of an adventure in life where a group of people fight to survive and two of them fall in love.
Strong and believable characters and a good story! What more can one ask for?
I listened to a promotional audiobook and this is my voluntary and unbiased review of it.
