When tragedy took away everything she loved, Mika Westbrooke hardened her heart and focused her energy on defeating her clan’s enemies. However, when a charming Cajun worms his way into the New York clan, her instincts and her wolf go haywire and she suspects that he may be the one fate intended for her–her True Mate. But Mika doesn’t want a mate or to love again. But he can give her one thing … thing she does want … a child of her own, to love and cherish and fill in the void in her heart.
One fateful night, Marc Delacroix calls in a favor from one of the most powerful Betas in the world, and finally escapes the nightmare he’s been living for decades. All he has to do now is keep his head down and serve the New York Lycan clan for the next five years then he can be truly free to live his life. But he didn’t expect to meet Mika Westbrooke or that his inner wolf would be so fixed on the green-eyed beauty. He knows he needs to focus on his goal, but Mika’s proving to be a distraction–an alluring one, but a distraction nonetheless. Then she gives him an offer he can’t refuse … one night with her sweet body, in exchange for giving her the pup she desperately wants.
They strike a bargain, but keeping things casual is harder than they think, and when someone tries to hurt Mika, his protective instincts kick in. Are the mages out to kill her or is it Delacroix’s past, coming back to haunt him?

So I wasn’t so sure how I felt at the beginning of this book. It made me roll my eyes because I wanted to slap Mika! However once we got into the main plot of the story I was captivated! I absolutely love Marc! He is this perfect blend of dominance and patience! I come to appreciate Mika’s stubborness at the end! I absolutely loved the ending! I think the way that Alicia Montgomery ties all the pieces together and answers our questions is great! And then she leaves us with that scene at the very end! Can’t tell you or it will give to much away but…. ugh… need to go read the next book now!
This is a spellbinding series! Marc Delacroix sparked my interest from the first book he was introduced in. He puts on airs that he is a player and not much matters to him, but that just isn’t true. Mika Westbrooke is still mourning her husband’s death and hasn’t let anyone get close since his passing. She is not impressed when she first meets Marc, but their chemistry is off the charts. Their first meeting had Marc wanting to get to know her and she wanted to get away from him. The mages are still up to their attacks on Lucas and Adrianna Anderson, the Alphas of New York and New Jersey, respectively. With the attacks more frequent and targeting their children everyone is on high alert. Marc and Mika get together in an unorthodox manner. There will be several interesting discoveries and answers to questions for us as readers as well as Marc and his family. This is one heck of a series and I love every one of these books. Each book could stand on it’s own, but there is so much added when read in order. Don’t miss a heart stopping adventure that will make your heart pound and swell with love for these characters.
What’s not to like about this story? It has everything I enjoy from this author. The characters are dynamic, each dealing with a myriad of issues. Add to that drama, intrigue, danger and a chemistry fuelled burgeoning relationship between Mika and Marc. I enjoyed this latest entry to the series.
I read an advanced copy of this book.
I love love love this book. Tension from start to the end and it had such terrific parts. We could see the other couples, and boy was this another level of books. The situation in this world is coming to a boil. And I cannot wait to see how it all ends.
What I am sure of is, it will be amazing!
Start with the start of the series if you want to meet all of the amazing characters this author has put on the page!
Wow, the characters have developed from the original books through to the Next-generation. It was great finding out Delacroix’s story. Huge surprise at the end. Now I can’t wait for the next book.
This series just keeps getting better and better. I love how everything is intertwined. The new characters are always interesting and add more to the story, and there are so many I hope to see more of in the future.
Mika and Marc have tough decisions when they find out they are true mates. They both have a lot of pain they hide that doesn’t make them welcome the bond.
I thought they had great chemistry from the very beginning. You could also really feel their pain and know that their connection is what they truly need to heal.
The story takes you on quite an adventure that brings him to the truth that was hidden. In the end, you’re left with quite a cliffhanger and eager for the next book.
I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.
Marc & Mika meet & sparks fly!! He is immediately and overwhelmingly attracted & does not know about ‘true mates’!! Mika knows they are true mates but fights it because she cannot let go of her late husband! While they are both wolves, Mark is also a Mage and the battle between evil Mages & wolves is becoming more intense! Revelations are made, family found and ties strengthened – Marc is nothing if not persistant! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book & loved it! I have read others in the series & am excited for more!
Great Adventure! I really enjoyed the series! I will miss the characters.
Ok. Let’s try this again. This first review I freaking deleted by accident .
I’m not going to go in to a big to do with this review. I believe there were plenty of those for this book. I will tell you I absolutely loved this book.
I’ve wanted Marc’s story since we were first introduced to him. His ability of being able to move about in the shadows fascinated me.
Both Marc and Mika have tragic past. I cried several times.
Get ready for the rollercoaster ride for your emotions.
I read an advanced copy of this book.
So, so disappointed.
SPOILERS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I CANNOT GIVE AN HONEST REVIEW WITHOUT STATING WHY I GAVE THIS BOOK TWO STARS.
I am going to be in the minority here but I struggled to finish this book. I have to say this really is a never to be read again book for me.
Both H’s are guilty of non-communication. This romance is still going nowhere by the end of chapter 12. So frustrating.
If Mika and her negative behaviour had not carried on until chapter 14, this would have left more time for the best part of the story.
I would have loved more time with Marc’s newly found bayou family and more about taking Remy down. The ending was just too rushed.
Mainly due to the fact we get 14 chapters of Mika in denial about Marc being anything special to her. Yes, she acknowledges he is her true mate so he can get her pregnant but she treats him like a dirty secret.
We then get two actually great chapters of story with one hell of an epilogue with Cross being in the crosshairs so to speak.
I wrote a long review for this book but have cut it back to what I think are the salient facts for me.
We get too little about Marc’s actual ability of Shadow Walking, which is similar to another great series.
Mika was so mired in the past and selfish. She spoilt this story for me.
Just didn’t make me happy reading this with her cold and unfeeling attitude.
Mika is outrageously rude and unpleasant to Marc for most of the book. All because he wasn’t Joe.
Mika was married to a human who died in a car accident. She is still apparently grieving two years on. WHY did she marry someone who was not her True Mate? She has enough True Matings around her to KNOW they happen; she was the first child born from a True Mating in ages.
If Marc had come along and she was married to Joe, then what would have happened?
Marc has a hard and guilty past and it was understandable that he was reticent to talk about it.
Marc at least has an excuse in not understanding about True Mates. He has been raised in a backwards pack with an alpha that likes his wolves ignorant of modern ways.
Marc was used abominably by his ex ratbag alpha.
But no one has asked him why he needed to move packs, why he wants to be a lone wolf or even tried to find out anything about him. They just assume he is an a-hole.
We go from Marc not even knowing about Joe, to he is finally told after a chance meeting with Mika’s ex in-laws, where once again Mika is dismissive and rude about him. Marc’s response to this big reveal is——such a non-response.
Then we go from not even being allowed to kiss Mika, to I LOVE YOU’s within half a chapter, even less than that.
Once again The High Council seem to be useless and do nothing. How has a killer like Remy been allowed to continue living, let alone be an alpha?
The whole gather evidence theme was ridiculous. Mika had the camera on but it was Marc who gets the confession.
I also cannot work out the time frame. How old was she when Mika married Joe? How old is she now? Where was the excitement of meeting ones True Mate? Off having his pup?
I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
Marc and Mika wow! Another great read. I always think that the last book was my favorite until I read a new one. I guess they are all my favorites. I would recommend this book to anyone. Anything Alicia writes is truly worth your time to read.
Wow! Shadow Wolf is full of surprises. I loved Mika and Delacroix story. There is so much more going on within the story. I need to reread it again. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I recommend reading all of Alicia montgomery’s series, starting with, True Mates. You’ll be hooked and become a true fan. I received an advance copy, I voluntarily read this book.
I absolutely love these True Mate stories! Each one so cool…Marc Delacroix a Cajun wolf got out of a bad situation and came to the New York pack..now he just has to keep his head down and work off 5 years then he’s going lone wolf. Mika is a New York pack member that went through a sad situation. When they meet she thinks she knows what Marc is, a playboy wolf! When they touch it’s magic and she knows what he really is! But he knows nothing about true mates! It’s good!! I definitely recommend these.
I can never get enough of this series. It is so damn good. Just the right amount of mystery, fighting, romance and magic. Marc has a past he isn’t proud of and tries to keep it hidden. He believes he should be a lone wolf. He is a hybrid or part Lycan and part witch. Mika is a tough Lycan female that doesn’t need a man in her life. She had love once and lost him in a terrible accident. But she does want to have a child without the father. Things get interesting and dangerous as the story goes. The romance gets all tangled up and may never be fixed. Expect plenty of taking care of bad guys too.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I love seeing these characters grow with each book in the series, yes we might only get a glimpse of previous characters but it all links in and makes for an amazing read.
the world-building in this series is astounding and really adds to the feel of the book as you read each one. This book is no different and a great read.
Another impressive story from Ms. Montgomery. This book just hit the pinnacle of awesomeness. Romance is through the roof.
Shadow Wolf
We are now seven books into the “True Mates Generations” series. Each story continues to build the basic story-arc trying them together. For those new to this series, this is a spin-off and in my opinion you really should read the original series before this one. This story revolves around the daughter of the couple from book one in the original. Why is this an important tidbit? That story explains the whole “True Mates” concept. Now, about Mika and Marc. Both of these characters are a little hard to take in the beginning. Issues in their past have molded them into the people they are. Will they overcome those issues or will a “True Mating” actually be wrong? Ready for the next story….whoever that one may be about.
“I read an advanced copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing.”
What a wonderful in-depth story. Your immediately drawn into the family, it’s intense and very thorough, lots of information and explanations. Marc is brought back to New York from his job as bodyguard to the queen and her son. He still planning to give his five years of service to the New York alpha and then leave to go lone wolf. Mika has been promoted and now runs operation to infiltrate and rid themselves of mages. Still in mourning over the tragic death of her husband two years ago, she’s thrown herself into her work while distancing herself from her family. Fate is at work and has thrown these two together, true mates, neither wants it Marc doesn’t even know about them but can’t understand his feelings, Mila not wanting to move on isn’t accepting it, but has decided she wants a baby. She explains true mates to Marc and says they once need to come together once I order to make a baby. Marc agrees but demands all night with Mika and she says no kissing. The next day Mika leaves for Russia to work on alliances. Once she returns and on that very day she’s shot but since her pregnancy protects her the bullet goes through her and hits Marc. That begins all the mysteries, fact finding and fighting. Secrets are revealed and relationships are developed. It was quite the page turner, but in the end absolutely uplifting a true happily ever after well kinda of.
This is an amazing paranormal romance! I loved it!! It has action and romance, and is packed with emotion. Wonderful characters! I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.
