Danger inspires fierce passion when a serial killer threatens Chicago’s Ferraro crime family in this novel in Christine Feehan’s New York Times bestselling series.Vittorio Ferraro is a man whose family loyalty knows no bounds. He would die for his siblings and the people they love, but what he really wants is to start a family of his own. Deep down, Vittorio has always known finding a woman who … known finding a woman who could ride shadows would be nearly impossible—let alone one who could accept his particular needs—and he never expected to find her in the middle of a kidnapping.…
Grace Murphy has always been drawn to Vittorio Ferraro—or at least to the billionaire’s public bad-boy persona. Now that she’s under his protection and the sole focus of his intense caring, she can’t help wanting to get as close to him as possible. But Grace knows her presence is putting the entire Ferraro family in danger. Her monster of a brother will never let her go, but Vittorio has no intention of losing the woman whose shadow matches his own.
Praise for Shadow Keeper
“Shadow Keeper is, in a word, a keeper! If you love hot men, sexy women, the good guys winning against the bad guys, love (both sweet and ultra steamy), and family that stands together, then this book is all that and even more.”—Fresh Fiction

When Grace jumped out of the trunk of a car all riled up and fiery Vittorio was instantly in love, of course he would keep that but to himself. Grace can’t believe Haydon was trying to sell her to pay off his gambling debts but in the chaos is the most handsome man she has ever seen..Vittorio Ferraro. When Grace steps in front of a bullet to save Vittorio her fate is sealed, she will be Vittorio’s forever and has put herself on Haydon’s bad list but first she has to survive the gun shot.
I really enjoy this Shadow Warriors series and even though you can read as a stand-alone I like when characters I already love are mixed in the new story. Grace is endearing and wants to please Vittorio but her confidence is lacking and Vittorio can’t believe he found the one he had been searching for. This story is not just hearts and flowers there is a lot of danger and mystery.

With the creation of Vittorio, Christine Feehan has officially earned a spot on my must-read list! This was my first time reading from this author and I can finally understand what all the hype is about. This story had intrigue and suspense, but it was heavily layered in sensuality and love. And the strong ties of family were hard to miss. All parts of this book made it an entertaining read. From the insidious ways that the serial killer taunted them to the uniformity of the Ferraro family, I was captivated by what I held in my hands.
I’m in love with the unique powers that the Ferraro’s wield. Shadow walking sounds so cool! And then they all have characteristics that are unique to each of them. Vittorio’s power is in his voice. He can use it to compel people to do as he wishes or defuse a tense situation or calm down the woman he loves. He also has a seductive undertone that leaks through no matter what he’s doing. He’s fierce and loyal and kind and cool under pressure, and in his heart of hearts, he’s a dominant looking for a woman of his own to take care of. When Grace falls into his lap, he can’t believe his good luck. Now all he’s got to do is convince her to give in.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Although it’s the fourth in the series, I was never lost. It can be read as a standalone, however, I will be going back to read the previous three books and hope to continue with the rest. I’m curious about the relationship between Val and Emme and don’t judge me for wanting them to find their happy ending too. I’m recommending this to anyone who loves a sexy paranormal romance with an edge.
Vittorio is the largest of the brothers, he’s also the peacemaker, but Vittorio is also a volcano waiting to erupt, he thinks he will never find a woman of his own, he needs to be the center of her world, like she will be his, he will want to control her, but make her happy at the same time. We wants a wife and kids, he wants a home he can’t wait to return to.
Grace is an events planner, and a good one.
She’s also an independent, free thinking woman, but Grace is also scared, anyone she shows an interest in dies. So she makes no friends, she doesn’t smile at anyone, she doesn’t give her stalker the satisfaction of seeing someone she knows die (and they don’t die quick) she could turn to her brother, but as he’s her stalker it’s a little difficult. He’s not her real brother, but meeting him in a foster home, they soon became friends and allies, but little did Grace know he would take his protection of his “sister” too far!!!
So the book reminded me of a master and slave book, but without the “bondage” Vittorio likes to control all aspects of their lives, but as Grace is a submissive she’s ok with it, in fact she’s happy to hand over all decision making over to Vittorio.
The “brother” who took their sibling bond “too far” was really well written, very creepy (we don’t usually get too many bad guys who can blend and fool our hero too often) and there was no redeeming quality about him, he took Grace’s love for her brother and totally abused it.
It was great catching up with the rest of the family, the sister is definitely one I will want to read, her love for the “wrong man” has spanned a few years, and now she’s broken hearted, but not down. It will be good to see how that turns out.
I must admit, there is a fair amount of sexand I did skip a few pages. But the action and story did make it worth the read.
He will be her shield
This book has an awesome beginning! It starts with an explosion of activity that just continues to grow throughout the story. We get to fall even more in love with the Ferraros and their family. So many more layers are revealed and even more intrigue is brought to the surface setting up for many more books. This couple had a super long road to their HEA, but it was a great experience. I can’t wait to read the next book by this author, but I also know that I will be reading this one again and again.
Loved it
Hot Alpha Male, Strong women, steamy sex, intrigue and suspense describes Shadow Warrior (Shadow 4). It is a fine line to have an Alpha controlling male, one who wants to protect you, not become controlling as to leave you with no choices, no life other than him, no friends. This was not the direction that Christine Feehan went, this is just a comment that it is a very fine line. Just as I was starting to think, nope too far, Christine Feehan shows the other side, the rest of the story and I sit back in my chair to continue this adventure. The creepy “brother” had me checking everywhere as I read this book. I thought maybe this was an evil shadow walker because he was soooo good at not getting caught, and hiding, not being seen. He truly perpetuates evil where ever he went. Graphic for some people. The sex, was the staple Christine Feehan (Erotic) and rated X (not plain jane mom and pops). I was getting a little lost with the Mob portion but when I reread it I so see the ground work for a coming book. Some twists down the road perhaps. The awesomeness of this book is really the staple in all Christine Feehans books, family. The love, the support through the bad, the evil, the twisted. Thank you for the arc! All thoughts an opinions are my own and were unsolicited.
Shadow Warrior continues the story of the Ferraro family and their shadow walking abilities. Vittorio was kind of the wild card brother (to me, anyway). I never quite got a good read on him-he is quite and subdued. That changed dramatically in Shadow Warrior!
Vittorio is a Dom. At first, he alludes to never being able to find a woman who would be willing to meet his needs. He said this multiple times and I was starting to get scared about what exactly he was into that was strange. But, as it unfolds, I think he is just very dominate. He isn’t into pain or anything like that, but he is controlling. However, its not BAD controlling and you recognize quickly that he would never do something his lover didn’t enjoy. For readers who are skep about Dom/Sub stuff, I think this is a great example of the practice used in a healthy relationship. Maybe I’m wrong (I don’t know much about it, and I haven’t really read much BDSM), but I thought Feehan’s approach to this aspect of Vittorio’s personality was well handled.
Grace is a woman who gives off the appearance of having her life together. She works for a very popular event planner and she is the person behind the scenes that makes everything run flawlessly. But her personal life has been hell since childhood. Her foster brother was truly terrifying and his presence added a layer of genuine fear to the story.
Finally, there is lots of allusions regarding Emmanuelle and I’m hoping her book is next. But, there is an allusion to Taviano and his true love as well. There is some drama with a local crime family that has been brewing for awhile now, and all this goes on while Vittorio and Grace are dealing with Haydon. Shadow Warrior was captivating from the start and it never let up with its blend of danger and sensuality.
A bit different than the other books. It felt slower somehow. I still enjoyed it and the crazy differences between these two. I liked that things with the Saldis are heating up. The next two books are highly anticipated (if they are who I expect them to be). This is a steamy romance.
A great paranormal romance series
Always like her books . I’m a fan !
I love this author but I find it harder to keep my interest, I keep flipping pages to get past the repetitiveness and extra details.
I have read at least 20 of her books. Most of the Carpathian books. It has bee a few years since I read her books, I have a Kindle and they are too expensive on the Kindle. I miss them.
Love a book you can’t put down.
I really enjoy this series! I love the entire Ferraro clan—except Eloisa, for obvious reasons. Book 4 is Vittorio’s and he’s ready for his own happily ever after. He finds his possible future in the lovely Grace. Vittorio stumbled upon the botched kidnapping of Grace and she is injured trying to protect him. Vittorio brings Grace home to take care of as she convalesces, despite her many protests. Close quarters help develop chemistry and soon sparks are flying! The Ferraro clan rally around Grace to protect her just as burgeoning tensions with an enemy family come to a head. Danger lurks around every corner but it’s business as usual for The Ferraros.
The story is fast-paced and exciting with those uber-sexy Ferraro men! They can sure wear those dangerously tailored pin-striped suits, can’t they? What I really like about the series is that it’s full of tough women. Grace is strong and refuses to be rolled over by Vittorio’s overbearing alpha-male protectiveness without giving as good as she gets. The couple paired well together. My favorite character is the only Ferraro sister, Emmanuelle. She’s in love with the son of the enemy family. Years earlier, he broke Emmanuelle’s heart and her trust. I really hope her story is next!
Another exciting read from Christine Feehan!
***I voluntarily read and reviewed a Net Galley copy of the book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review***
I have certainly enjoyed getting to know the Ferraro family, in this book I fell in love with Vittorio and Grace. Although I have never like the mother, in this story she does redeem herself in a small way. I look forward to the next book in this series.
Just too slow in the middle section. Pity.
I love reading about the dynamics in the Ferraro family. The close relationship the siblings all have with each other is really heartwarming.
I wasn’t keen on book one due to Stefano’s take charge attitude. By book four I understand this is how these men have to be and are, so they can cope with the stress of their lifestyles.
Started off wonderfully with action, intense drama and a big comment from Emmanuel that had me going, oh no.
Vittorio is the large, quiet loving, peaceful brother who never expects to find a woman that will fit his domineering lifestyle needs.
Grace has persevered through a life I am not sure anyone would wish on their enemy.
Though I loved the slow build up between Vittorio and Grace, it then just started to drag too much, with way too much repetitive words from Vittorio about his NEEDS from his WOMAN.
In between slogging through all this slow diatribe between Grace and Vittorio, we kept getting little glimpses of a great story with Hayden the serial killer from Grace’s life, the Saldi Family and the treasonous takeover that is going on in that lot.
The betrayal of some of their own was sad.
Once the story picked up again towards the end, it paced well.
The ending for Hayden seemed too simplified but does fall into Ferraro justice.
Cannot wait for Emmanuel and Val’s story to come out. Is Val guilty of what he was accused?
I am convinced Eloisa is losing the plot but her actions at the end were very interesting.
Love this new series
I absolutely love this series! Vittorio is so intense and for him to fall so hard, so quickly for Grace was fantastic. The manner in which they met was perfect, allowing him to do what is do innate in him.
She’s his but doesn’t know it yet. ah, these Ferraro men. She’s very giving and yet there is so much more to her. She’s got a fighting, strong spirit. And she’s his match. She’ll stand up to his mother and do it with grace.
The Saldi’s and Val and Haydon have your head spinning trying to figure how it all will play out. I cannot wait for the next in the series!!
Vittorio Ferraro knows his time is limited and he will finally have no choice but to settle and not have what his brothers have, a love match, women who complete them. He doesn’t really think there is a woman out there who will understand his needs nor will she be willing to be what he needs, complete submission. Plus, there is the added issue of riding shadows, having to explain to their chosen mates but not being able to tell them till they are sure of them. What kind of life is this to bring someone into. What are the odds that he too will be able to have this kind of happiness, a completeness…a mating, true happiness with the perfect woman.
Grace Murphy, has lived most of her life in foster care, most experiences were terrible, abusive. Her kind heart has been her downfall , a foster brother from childhood has latched on to her and has stalked her. Has threatened to hurt or kill anyone that she gets close to. She lives a singular life, afraid to let anyone in.
Vittorio feels something very wrong at the nightclub, he follows his instincts, which leads him to the parking lot where he sees a deal going down, something that should not be happening at a Ferraro club. When they open the trunk never does he expect a woman fighting mad trying to escape her fate. This is the woman meant for him….now if he can only convince her! Grace is shot while Vittorio tries to save her he calls his family to their side and gets her to the hospital, protects her….tells her that he needs to let people know she is his fiancee so he can take care of her and protect her. Now, he uses that time to charm her and let her see a side of him that is real, not what she reads in the magazines or sees in the press.
Grace doesn’t want the Ferraro family involved in her issues with her foster brother, she fears for anyone who touches her life. Can Vittorio convince her he is the man who can give her a life, his family can ensure she has happiness.
If that is not enough the Ferraro family also has someone plotting a war, who is leading this and how do they stop it!
This book has action from the start to the finish, suspenseful, romantic, sensual, action packed. I am never disappointed in a Feehan book!
Christine Feehan is one of my Favorite Authors and she did not disappoint with Shadow Warrior.
