From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes the second novel in a trilogy about the land we’re drawn to, the family we learn to cherish, and the people we long to love… Mayo home. It’s where his sister, Branna, lives and works, where his cousin, Iona, has found true love, and where his childhood friends form a circle that can’t be broken. A circle that is about to be stretched out of shape—by a long-awaited kiss.
Meara Quinn is Branna’s best friend, a sister in all but blood. Her and Connor’s paths cross almost daily, as Connor takes tourists on hawk walks and Meara guides them on horseback across the lush countryside. She has the eyes of a gypsy and the body of a goddess…things Connor has always taken for granted—until his brush with death propels them into a quick, hot tangle.
Plenty of women have found their way to Connor’s bed, but none to his heart until now. Frustratingly, Meara is okay with just the heat, afraid to lose herself—and their friendship—to something more. But soon, Connor will see the full force and fury of what runs in his blood. And he will need his family and friends around him when his past rolls in like the fog, threatening an end to all he loves…

Really great read from book one to the last book . Love the characters the setting and easy to read . They draw you in and keeping you reading.
Connor & Meara’s story was such an improvement in Shadow Spell over Ilona and Boyle’s in Dark Witch. This is one of those stories that I want to love but for some reason just don’t quite work for me. I was intrigued for certain, but there was something missing….
Being back in County Mayo with The Three was beautiful and nerve wracking at times. More often than not I felt like Meara was kind of being too stubborn for her own good and Connor went from being all about the ladies to being all about Meara in a matter of days when he never looked at her other than as a friend before. You really don’t get a lot of time with them together to see how their bond changes from point to the next, but I did feel like Connor’s heart was away more into it than Meara’s even at the end of the story.
Honestly for me, I don’t know if I would have continued on with this trilogy if Fin and Branna’s story had been first or even second. Their story is bound to be the most intense because they have a lot of drama to work out between themselves but also between The Three if they have any hope of stopping Cabhan.
We return to the O’Dwyer family to find that Meara Quinn and Connor O’Dwyer may have feelings for each that are stronger than just friendship. This scares Meara, but makes Connor finally feel whole. The O’Dwyer family’s quest to end Cabhan takes a turn when he sets his eyes on Meara and Connor soon realizes the true power of love.
I found that I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. Although all the characters are the same, I liked how it focused on Meara and Connor as the first did on Iona. The characters are easy to relate to and the magical aspect in the story is fascinating. The bond all the characters have is something that I think we all wish we had. Connor and Branna have a great sibling relationship and Iona has really fit in well.
The story is set in Ireland and I absolutely love it. The accents and descriptions of the land are just awe inspiring. Ireland is on my travel bucket list and this trilogy has made that want stronger.
Meara makes a very foolish mistake in this book and I hope that her temper does not get the best of her. She could really ruin the battle with Cabhan. She did redeem herself for the battle, but it’s still something that sticks in the back of the mind.
Book three in the trilogy focuses on Branna and I am so looking forward to it.
This really makes you want to try out falconry! I’m a bird lover anyway, but it makes it seem so cool! And its got some sweet, squishy moments too! Happy Reading!
Shadow Spell, the second novel in the Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy, focuses on Connor’s life as he and his two cousins continue their battle against Cabhan, the black sorcerer. A good, easy read.
One of the few books that I own – as opposed to borrowing from the library. I’ll admit that I am a fan of Nora Roberts and like most of her books.
This trilogy of the dark witch by nora roberts, are my ABSOLUTE favorite books! I wish this was more than just a trilogy!!!
Nora Robert’s trilogies are her best writing. Hard to wait for the next book to come out.
This is part of a magic series.. it’s fun, has amazing characters that have depth to each.. all the characters have their lives equally written throughout the three books. This is just a great series, and this book is a fun book with magic!!
Enjoyed this very much!
Nora at her best! A little magic and a whole lot of love.
