SHADOW MAN is a brand new mafia romance from the author of the bestselling Santiago series…
“Richly layered & unique… All-consuming and flawlessly written” – Sammy, Just Let Me Read
Cause and consequence:
Two words that haunt me:
When I was stolen, I learned to hate.
When he saved me, I learned to fear.
I ran from him, following a trail of the dead, from Miami all the way to … way to Colombia.
Now I’ve fallen into darkness again, and he’s the only one I see.
But he’s a shadow man.
A bad man.
A soldier.
A killer.
The red right hand to the devil himself.
We’re a dirty contradiction: I’m the girl who can’t be touched, whom he refuses to set free.
We’re a dangerous obsession: There’s damage running deep in both of our souls.
Caught up in a cartel war I want no part of.
Trapped between love and hate.
One night will change everything…
For years, Joseph Grayson killed in the name of Dante Santiago.
Now, he kills for me.
Shadow Man is the first part of a duet, but there are NO emotional cliffhangers.

Before I start my review I want to say I’m a lover of these characters since I read her first book The Santiago triology. This book is a stand-alone duet but I think it’ll be better to understand the characters if you read it before.
Ok where do I start, I fell for Joseph or Grayson as I know I him on other books. When I met him in my other man’s book Dante, Joseph has always intrigued me and I also wanted to know his story. What made him be who and how he is now.
The book has a lot of twist and turns we get to see glimpse of the other characters, some characters we new. I love how the story flows with the other books events.
The book is a duet and it doesn’t end in a cliffhanger but it does end with you seeing some old characters from other books!!! Can’t wait for the second book . If you love angst, dark romance and super alpha hot males. This is your book..
I did not want this book to end! I absolutely loved every word of it.
Joseph Grayson is everything an antihero should be. Dangerous, dark, filthy, gorgeous, sadistic and sensual but you still want him more than your next breath. He is so scarred and shaped by his past that he had given up wanting more in his personal life. He is the right hand of Dante Santiago – who has his own spectacular story that you must read! The Santiago Trilogy. It’s not until he sees a girl in a red dress that his interest in more is piqued. Anna and Joseph are so beautifully written and their magnestism is explosive.
It is a hard hitting read as Anna is healing from one of the most horrific ordeals that anyone can go through and Joseph has experienced his own heartbreaking tragedy. My heart hurt so much for Anna, especially as she relived some moments. This is the brilliance of Catherine Wiltcher though…she makes you bleed with her characters.
“My hands couldn’t pray for mercy while held down to a dirty mattress…and the monsters? They turned out to be real and so much scarier than my childish mind could ever have imagined.”
A cartel war is breaking out around them. Bullets are flying and bodies are dropping. This is a must read book that will have your heart racing and your panties melting.
Dark, naughty, sweet, suspenseful, frustrating, swoony, melodic. Catherine Wiltcher continues to prove the characters use her as a conduit to tell their stories. The story of Joseph and Anna is rich with imagery, complexity, and spirit. It pulled every emotion from me, but not gratuitously. Wiltcher writes with an economy that trusts my imagination to dress the stage while she directs the players. Their voices are unique and genuine and she writes then with humor and compassion. I finished the book with a full heart and my bloodthirst satisfied. This is Grayson, after all.
A complete story: there is a teaser for book 2 of the duet, but no cliffhanger. Highly recommend. Highly recommend. 14/10
One of my favorite things to read in dark romance is a strong, fierce, and lethal heroine. Anna is perfection. Her growth from victim to survivor is great to see. And I love her fast friendship with Vivian. I enjoy seeing badass bitches empowering other badass bitches.
I’m loving the Santiago Cartel! Shadow Man is an exciting, fast-paced read. It can be read as a stand-alone, but is the first book in a duet. I read Dante and Eve’s books too and they were awesome. If you like dark/romantic suspense reads, I would definitely recommend all of these books!
As I started to write this review, I kept thinking to myself how would my words even do justice to this incredible book. I’ve been eagerly waiting for Joseph’s story and this author completely knocked it out of the park! OMG! So many descriptions come to mind like brilliant, phenomenal, unreal and so many more that I can’t even think of them all. I literally started this and refused to put it down until it was finished. You will be taken on so many dark and twisty turns, that your head will be swimming and your heart will be exploding.
Joseph is a hardened man who feels no remorse, unless it has to do with Anna. She is his Achilles heel. She is his light in the darkness. She is his salvation. But Anna has her own dark past to overcome and isn’t sure she can ever feel the same for Joseph. These two tortured souls are meant to be, I can feel it in my very heart and soul. The beginning, middle and end of their story will literally blow your mind. Especially the end! Now I can’t wait for the second part of this duet. I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold out!! Please, read this book, read this series and hold onto your emotions, as they will no doubt be affected! I cried, I held my breath and held onto hope for these two incredible characters. Absolutely phenomenal!
WOW! My head is still spinning and my jaw dropped after reading the last page of ‘Shadow Man. What such an amazing book! I had high expectations for this title after reading and loving the Santiago Trilogy and Catherine Wiltcher not only has fulfilled them, she has exceed them.
I loved this book from page one till the end. Absolutely brilliant writing. ‘Shadow Man’ is an intense, powerful and thrilling ride. Joseph and Anna have troubled background. They both have ugly demons to fight. It’s not easy at all to find peace for their souls and bodies but they’re stubborn, brave and more crazy about each other than they even realize.
I couldn’t put this book down. Great world building. Everything just played out in my mind like a movie (I wish ‘Shadow Man’ could be turn into one!). I love hot alpha males and Joseph is one of a kind. Not to mention his boss, what a team they make! I really like their dynamic.
Although you don’t need to read the Santiago trilogy to fully understand this book, I highly recommend it. Not just because they (‘Hearts of Darkness’, ‘Hearts Divine’ and ‘Hearts of Fire’) are an outstanding reading but because also they’ll help you to enjoy this book a lot better. You’re going to love and sometimes hate the characters but definitely you’ll want to meet them.
I can’t wait for Grayson Duet book 2!
I love everything to do with the Santiago family so had to read this Grayson Duet. I do wish I read the books just before to understand a few things better but it was good on its own. I understand due to some of the pieces of the book it’s a slow burn and when it did finally get to the steamy parts they were very steamy lol. Will be reading book 2 in the duet now.
Shadow Man is the first book of the Grayson Duet. This is an emotional love story about two broken people. Joseph and Anna both have their own issues. Will they be able to save each other? Don’t miss this book!
Fast pace.
İntense.
Sexy yet vulnerable.
Sweet yet strong.
İntrigue, lies, deceit and betrayel games in the cartel world.
All jam packed in this book, i need more!
Grayson and Anna story is full of violent, darkness and love in the same circle.
How Anna gone to the deep end of her self after she was captured, used, abused, dehumanized, put in slavery. How she find her light back in the darkest place, in the darkest man.
İts poem written in blood.
And Grayson, he is… İ’m sighing just by saying his name.
This man is not black or white.
He was a decorated war hero.
He is the assasin, second in command of the evil king him self.
He is the deathly shadow.
He is also the bright sun for Anna dsrk world.
This book may end with HFN, but we need the next book to make sure the evil stay dead
To say I loved this book would be an understatement!
After reading The Santiago Trilogy, I became very intrigued by Joseph Grayson and this book (#1 in a duet) has definitely ticked all the boxes. I have endless love for Joseph and his Luna.
Another great read, one I was not able to put down. Love reading first part of Joseph and Anna story. The ending is what got me really.. must read
Another amazing read from the amazing and talented Catherine. It’s been a long time since I’ve come across a book this well writing I’ve really enjoyed reading all these books and can’t wait for the next
Joseph Greyson is Hot and always wanting to save Anna after the trauma she went through in Santiago trilogy but she cant see the right path to follow and is leading down a dark path until she leaves. Will Joseph let her get away though Hell Noooo……
What can I say about Joseph and Anna PERFECTION. It’s everything I could of hoped for and more. Made me cry made me laugh and me get angry. The end of this book was a shocker was not expecting that major twist as always Catherine you leave me dying for the next book
Catherine Wiltcher has written another amazing tale of heart wrenching trauma, danger, and suspense that will leave you begging for more! The chemistry between the main characters, Joseph and Anna, is intense enough to melt your Kindle. I can’t wait for the second book of this duet!
What a ride this book is. A woman kidnapped into prostitution is rescued by a former Marine working for a Colombian drug cartel. When she runs away to Columbia, he must follow her to keep her safe.
Opinion
Enthralling, gripping, page turner…pick your name for it but I couldn’t put it down. This book is not for the faint of heart as it has violence but it will keep you captivated. Book two releases within days.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an copy of this book.
This author sure knows how to mafia!!
I have decided to binge a few of her books to make myself feel better, and boy is that kind of a mistake as all adulting has flown out the window for the day and I seem to be adding more books to my insane list rather than taking them away.
Like Anna I won’t have one single regret about it either.
What a book!!
I was transfixed from cover to cover, hence my almost involuntarily need for more. The characters and plot will hold you hostage, refusing to let you go.
Definitely recommend.
On to Devils & Dust I go before starting the second part of the duet.
Oooooo!!! So exciting!!
This my first book by this author and I’m now running read more.
Joseph and Anna’s story held me captive till the very last page. Their story was dark, raw and emotional, with lots of action and suspense. So it was not for the faint hearted. I highly recommend if you love dark romance. It was so good!
“Nothing about us is simple. Nothing is straightforward. It’s unrequired and unspoken, but it’s also chronic and pervasive, cementing our cracks with something other than hate.”
Is it possible to maybe like the secondary characters better than the original trilogy in which they appeared, because A&J are like a twister that’ll tear through your heart with their pain and self hatred in their quest to find each other. This duet is interconnected with the Santiago trilogy, so reading that beforehand will give some context. In Dante Santiago’s and his second in command Joseph Grayson’s war to end a sex trafficking ring, Anna was collateral damage. Her suffering during her kidnapping is horrific, and when everyone she cares about is ripped from her, she turns to self destruction, medicating with cocaine to forget how broken and alone she is. Though she can’t see past her trauma, her Shadow is always near to rescue her and show her the truth. The first half of this story shows her crushed and fractured spirit, but the second half shows Anna in her reawakening. When she encounters a dangerous situation again, rather than feeling impotent, Anna reaches for power and fires bullets, rage, and frustration at those who prey on the helpless and troubled. Anna’s transformation from helpless victim to empowered warrior is complete in that moment, and Joseph, who’s been trailing Anna and standing in the shadows to wait for this reemergence, is there to support her in this new role. I love how protective and strong he is; he has his own demons but wants to help Anna kill hers. Joseph feels guilt, worry, and heartache at what Anna went through, but even despite her trauma, he’s still there to show her that there’s humanity left in her and that she isn’t entirely lost to the darkness. I’m waiting to see how Anna builds the next phase of her life now that there’s a renewed purpose in her again.
TW for violence, mentions of sex trafficking and abuse, drug use, and all that. It’s a dark romance, so know that if it’s not your thing.
My first book by Catherine Wiltcher and she went nuclear crazy with darkness and suspense. Aka my kryptonite! This twisted story weaves a riveting tale of violence, passion and raw emotions.
Joseph Grayson has left the last part of his humanity to become the shadow and the right hand man of Dante Santiago,Once the ruthless cartel king of Colombia and now ruling from afar because he has found love. Now Joseph has a new soul to shadow. Anna. The broken girl who suffered the wrath of Dante’s enemies. The sweet soul he promised to protect at any cost. And that promise takes him to Colombia again where Anna has escaped only to be caught in the crossfire between the rival cartels.
This is dark romance at very best. The author didn’t hold back while taking me deep into the merciless, corrupt and dangerous world of Colombian cartels where survival at any cost is the motto. The story dips and rises with sudden turns and explosive games. The author was equally ruthless while taking me inside Anna’s heart. This girl is the queen. The horrors she lived, the wounds she bear, the scars she wear- didn’t make her break down ultimately. Rather she came out on the other side fierce and lethal. And Joseph held her pieces together at every step. A dangerous and volatile man, but so loyal and loving and caring at his heart. Damaged alpha extraordinaire. They have an unbreakable connection. Through death and all. Steamy. Sensual. Angsty. Heartbreaking. And this story has ended but it doesn’t mean they have their happily ever after because Cartel wars never stop.
Shadow Man by Catherine Wiltcher is undoubtedly one of the best mafia romance I have ever read. And I need more!
I reviewed a complimentary copy voluntarily.
Shadow man is a Dark and twisted gut wrenching roller coaster. This story has so many twist and turns that as soon as you think its going somewhere it goes in a different direction. This is a story you can’t put down and one you never want to end. I can’t wait to see where this story goes.
