SHADOW MAN is a brand new mafia romance from the author of the bestselling Santiago series…
“Richly layered & unique… All-consuming and flawlessly written” – Sammy, Just Let Me Read
Cause and consequence:
Two words that haunt me:
When I was stolen, I learned to hate.
When he saved me, I learned to fear.
I ran from him, following a trail of the dead, from Miami all the way to … way to Colombia.
Now I’ve fallen into darkness again, and he’s the only one I see.
But he’s a shadow man.
A bad man.
A soldier.
A killer.
The red right hand to the devil himself.
We’re a dirty contradiction: I’m the girl who can’t be touched, whom he refuses to set free.
We’re a dangerous obsession: There’s damage running deep in both of our souls.
Caught up in a cartel war I want no part of.
Trapped between love and hate.
One night will change everything…
For years, Joseph Grayson killed in the name of Dante Santiago.
Now, he kills for me.
Shadow Man is the first part of a duet, but there are NO emotional cliffhangers.

Dark, twisted tale of salvation and love
Shadow man is first book in a new duet set in the Santiago Cartel world featuring Dante’s righthand man, the shadow, the assassin, Joseph Grayson, and Eve’s best friend Anna Jackson. This is awesomely hot, twisted dark tale of salvation and love.
Joseph and Anna are two broken souls seeking to heal themselves through each other.
Anna was broken when she was kidnapped by the Russian Bratva with her best friend Eve in an attempt to get at Dante Santiago and the cartel. She does not fully remember the horrific experience, but realizes that Joseph is represents safety in some manner. She is self-destructing, her world is spinning out of control as she seeks pain relief in drugs and alcohol, pushing Joseph away at every turn.
Joseph is Dante’s righthand man, close as a best friend as world’s leading Cartel could have. His soul was broken as teenager when he came upon the murder of his mother and brother by his father, nearly being killed himself. Joseph served with Dante in the military, becoming close friends before Dante took over his birthright as head of Columbian cartel. Joseph joined Dante, watching his back, suffering the loss of his wife and child to the life. Joseph is driven to right the wrongs of others, seeking salvation for the lives he takes serving Dante. Anna has become his greatest undertaking for salvation, putting her back together, stronger than before.
The story travels from Miami back to the old Santiago cartel stronghold in Columbia where Anna meets a kindred soul in Viviana, who she thinks she is helping escape from drug dealers who is knows more about Anna than we think. Though this book has an happily ever after ending “for now”, the epilogue sets up a story line for “Reckless Woman” that we can’t wait to read knowing that we will get see how strong Anna has healed through Joseph’s care.
This is a follow on from the Santiago trilogy, you need to read that to enjoy Shadow Man. Joseph and Anna are both fighting their own demons and it is explosive to watch. Anna has been dragged through hell and is suffering for it but keeps trying to outrun her past but her Shadow Man will always catch his Luna. Joseph is a complex man and has his own personal war to fight, he is sadistic, lethal and very possessive. This is a harrowing story filled with violence and intense, emotion packed scenes and will consume your very soul. It is incredibly well written and has fantastic world building with emotionally draining characters, don’t delve into the darkness unless you are ready to be wrung out by this dark and captivating world.
I absolutely loved Dante in the Santiago trilogy, but one of my favourite characters from that series was the mysterious, dark & dangerous alpha Joseph Grayson!
How can one character be so devilishly handsome, sadistic, dangerous and yet sensual & caring all in one go!? well that’s exactly what Joseph Grayson is…how he protects & chases Anna just gives me chills (of the good kind), He really pushes her to her limits for all the right reasons, never giving up…i just loved, loved, loved them!!!
I was so excited to start reading this story and it honestly didn’t disappoint…this was Dark Mafia/Cartel romance at its best! I liked how the author didn’t hold back with the violence and cartel details, i also loved the mix of new and old characters, especially Dante!
I cant wait for the next in series……..that ending had me really nervous for these characters that i just love!! Highly recommend.
I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review.
This is certainly a fast paced mafia story with a difference. The ever changing relationship between Anna and Joseph is an intricate dance of emotions. Loved the intrigue , the mystery and that ending !!!! I certainly didn’t see that one coming….can’t wait for the next book
Shadow Man
(The Grayson Duet Book 1)
by Catherine Wiltcher
Shadow Man is the first book of Ms. Wiltcher’s The Grayson Duet, which is an impressive romance filled with not only revenge, and loyalty, but of a fierce love. Shadow Man is a fabulous saga with heart pumping intensity catching the readers attention, deep down, and sweeping them along with the story. The hot chemistry and the draw between these characters, creates a thrill of the chase right from the start, digging in deeper as the story progresses.
Ms. Catherine Wiltcher’s has a type of word magic in her writing talents that are fantastic. The reader can almost feel the pain and anger, the lust and love of the characters deep emotions, as she twirls her stories for her readers. Shadow Man can be read as a stand-alone, but not completing the rest of the books will do an injustice to the rest of the saga.
The reader cannot help but to fall in love with these beautifully flawed characters in Ms. Wiltcher’s books. I have read other work by Ms. Catherine Wiltcher, and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. I laughed, cried, and I got angry for the characters, and I will read more by the author Ms. Catherine Wiltcher. I would recommend reading the Santiago Trilogy first, to get the full impact of this broken love story. These thought and feeling are my own about this book and its author Ms. Catherine Wiltcher. Receiving 5-stars, well done.
“The same charm that pulled me into her world is still working its magic. I’m still following her white rabbit, wherever it may lead.”
A new author to me, I read this book based on a friends Goodreads review. I haven’t read the Santiago Trilogy and didn’t feel like I was missing anything, however I’m going to rectify that. This was a deliciously dark and twisted read, it seems there is so much more than meets the eye with these characters. We were thrown right into the middle of a Texan twister from the beginning, kept spinning as we turned each page only to find ourselves in a tropical hurricane at the end. I was captivated by the mind games, gunfire and deathly games of Russian roulette.
Joseph Grayson was captivated by the girl in a red dress, from that moment he became her shadow. He would follow her into depths of hell while El Asesino would slay the demons. Pushing his friendship with Dante to a whole new level wasn’t even a question, she would always come first. Luna chases the moon, but every shadow needs his golden sun so he can remain shaded in darkness.
Anna is troubled, haunted by the memories of monsters and being captive. Her mother told her to look for the moon it would take care of her anytime she was scared. That childhood memory became an intrinsic piece of her, she sought the moon wherever she was. However her shadow kept following her, she had to run…it was time for her to become a full moon.
Great story of strength and that we can overcome a lot in our lives. Anna has been to hell and back but she’s finding out she still needs her “Shadow Man” to not only help her but to help heal them both. Santiago Cartel is not people you want to mess with, but Anna will fight anyone and everyone until she feels safe and Joseph is the only place she feels safe, but is she safe with him. They both have things to work through but they find they will be safer and much happier when they are together.
Hot-dam-a-lama!! If you want a bad boy to take you to the wrong side of the tracks, Joseph Grayson is your guy!! He is one bad mofo that has my panties practically incinerating at the mere mention of his name. I think I may have found a new crime organization to obsess over!!
I really like the storyline, the characters qualities, the tone of the story; regrettably I just have one criticism and that is that I felt I didn’t truly understand the character’s dynamic. This story is promoted as a standalone duet, but I can’t see it as such. There are too many references from what I can only assume is from the previous series that this duet is a spin off of.
I would like to say, upon completion of the last chapter things made a whole lot more sense and the reader is provided with more of an insight of the relationship between Anna and Joseph, but not to the point that I felt completely connected to their characters. These two have a past and it is very unclear what that involves. Inferences of past events leave the reader wondering, and in some parts drowning in the unknown. I totally believe that if I had read the prior series to which these characters were introduced, that this read would garner an impeccable 5* star rating.
I love all types of mafia, cartel, crime related books, and Catherine Wiltcher appears to write them with such aptitude and ease. Shadow Man is extremely well written and gives the vibes of a great cartel crime read that is thundering with danger, dilemma, and trepidation, but I cannot overlook the fact that the whole time I was reading it, I felt that I was missing out on so much of the back story. I can tell you that I will be delving into the The Santiago trilogy before I continue with the second half of this duet, just so I can understand and appreciate the story and characters more.
4* Moons
This book should have come with a warning – Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster.
I am still not over this story, and it’s been a few days since I finished it. I am utterly speechless, and even as I write this, I am having a hard time forming my words and thoughts.
This book is just that good.
Anna Williams never asked to be a victim. Never asked to be a pawn in the middle of a war. Never asked to be protected by the man in the shadows.
Bouncing from rehab to rehab, Anna is a broken soul who is trying to put the pieces back together on her own terms. Running from the shadows and searching for her moon, Anna will have to realize that there’s only so far you can go before the past and present collide.
When the teasers started to come out for this book, I had a feeling that if a book was going to wreck me, this was it. I did receive an ARC, and that’s when the emotional roller coaster started. It was like catching up with old friends. We get to see a little bit of all the key players from the Santiago Trilogy without taking away anything from this story.
Joseph and Anna are a broken, ill fated couple who have gone through so much in their past. They are perfect together.
Joseph is Dante Santiago’s right hand man. There are things in his past that he’s not happy about. Then he sees Anna. As the days go by, his interest in Anna grows. Anna is still healing from an ordeal that she would like to forget. Can Joseph and Anna forget their past and move on to the future? Will they move forward together?
Catherine Wiltcher is an amazing author. This book was heartbreaking and emotional. I felt the emotions jump off the page. This book was a page turner. Be prepared to stay up late. I love this book and I highly recommend that you read it. It does not disappoint.
Another part of the Santiago Catel saga. .. hold its own but a wonderful part of a pwerful series. Blood pumping action and steamy romance makes this a must read book that you can’t put down. There are twist and turns and suprises that add so much to the whole story (all the way to the very end). Don’t miss Joseph and Anna’s story.
Joseph is an assassin and protects Anna. Anna has been through terrible times. Both of them are damaged people with their pasts shaping who they will become in the present. The two have an impossible love and Anna’s refusal to deal with her past between them. A dark twisted read.
Wonderful Series Continuance.
Anna is a broken and beaten mess and is going down a road that will lead her to nothing but death. But, a man she calls Shadow Man keeps rescuing her, and she wants him to go away and leave her alone. So, to get away, she does what she does best. Runs. Who knew that the one place she runs to is the place he knows all too well.
Joseph, Shadow Man, can’t get Anna out of his blood. He’s responsible for her plight. Joseph, not a gentleman, a killer with no thought or regrets. So why can’t he get Anna out of his dream, mind, and soul? When she runs, she goes to the one place he never wanted to revisit, and Anna is in more danger than ever.
When Anna and Joseph collide deep into a drug-infested country, Anna finds her way, and Joseph is only there to make sure she has back up.
Shadow Man is the start of a new series, and I couldn’t love it more. With the edge of the seat action, deep characters, feeling, emotions, and more is what makes this book a great read. Well done, Miss. Wiltcher, J@AA.
I’m so loving the Santiago Cartel! Two people, each in their own private hell, one fighting to get to the light, the other seeking the emptiness of oblivion. It was painful to watch Anna’s struggles. My heart hurt for her as much as for Joseph. I felt their pain and their anguish so hard! I can’t wait for the second part of this duet!
OMG!!! This series just getting better and better with each book!!!!!!!!!! I’m in LOVE with Greyson. This story was emotional and action pack. That ending was just
Epic!!!!! I was not expecting that ending but the dead just want stay dead. Brilliant job
