One family brings its own brand of justice to the streets of Chicago’s shadowy underworld as #1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan returns to a series hot enough to burn…The paparazzi can’t get enough of infamous bad boy Giovanni Ferraro. But unknown to them–and the women he beds–he’s just playing a role. Keeping the spotlight on himself keeps it off the family business. And … the family business. And if this lethal shadow rider can’t hunt in the dark, he’ll find his pleasure elsewhere…
Sasha Provis grew up on a Wyoming ranch and thought she knew how to protect herself from predators. But in the nightclub where she works, she’s fair game–until one of the owners steps in to protect her. Giovanni is gorgeous. He’s dangerous. And his every touch takes her breath away.
The devil at her heels may have finally met its match…

You will enjoy her books. This was a great one
I love the series but I am a little frustrated with this book.
To the Ferreros, protecting family and their secrets are the most important thing they do. And they will protect the family at all costs, by using any means necessary. Even if that means playing like rich promiscuous playboys to the paparazzi.
Giovanni—like all the Ferraros—is a shadow rider. They ride the shadows and dispense justice for those who can’t get it by legal means. To become a shadow rider, you must be born of two shadow riders. Giovanni and all the Ferraro siblings must find a shadow rider to marry and have children. If they don’t find “the one” for them, they will be forced into an arranged marriage with another shadow rider. So, when Giovanni’s shadow connects with the new waitress at the night club he owns, he’s hell bent on finding out who this woman is and if she could possibly be the one made for him.
I didn’t care much for Giovanni and Sasha together. I felt their relationship went WAY too fast and didn’t develop organically. After a while, I was skimming through their scenes to read about the other characters in the book. Which was unfortunate because I really, REALLY wanted to like them. At the end of the story, a few things didn’t get reconciled, which was also frustrating to me.
My experience with SHADOW KEEPER wasn’t all bad. Sasha has a heartbreaking backstory and her motivations for working in a night club are as noble as you can get. I was easily able to empathize with her in that aspect. I also loved more page time with Francesca and Stefano (Book 1) and the rest of the Ferraro siblings. And the only Ferraro sister, Emmanuelle. Poor girl is in love with the son of an enemy family. I can’t wait for her book!
SHADOW KEEPER kept me entertained as well as frustrated. I think my review is a little biased because I loved the first book so much. Each book that precedes, I’m more critical of because I’m looking for the magic I experienced in the beginning of the series. I invite you to experience that same magic by picking up one of Christine Feehan’s books.
***I voluntarily read an advanced copy of the book generously offered by Berkley Romance through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and feelings are my own***
The actual storyline itself kept me intrigued right to the end and I did enjoy how it played out.
Loving spending time with these characters and how the dynamics all play out.
Enjoyable if you can read the small print in the paperback version. My eyes were very tired and that was with my glasses. Bought the kindle version when it was on sale.
Giovanni is another with a very busy womanising past. He acts like a complete jerk in the beginning with the GAME. He at least admits this and is genuinely contrite.
But after the way the other waitress Mary talked about doing anything, no matter how deceitful to nab a rich husband, and what happened to Salvatore and the woman he thought loved him, the behaviour of Meredith the actress, you can understand their belief that some woman were deserving of their derision.
My respect for Sasha nosedived when they were in the car. A BJ while driving then playing with herself. Just a big NO. But her dedication and love of her brother Sandlin was so strong and complete, I couldn’t help but like her.
I had to skim the sex scenes by the half way mark as they were taking up too much of the long story and were getting repetitious.
Apart from those things, this was another good read and I totally enjoyed spending time with this group of people.
I just wonder how all those bodies with broken necks gets explained away.
Eloisa, their biological incubator, she does not deserve the title of mother, she is not a loving or nice person, spreads her poison once more, when are they going to deal with her properly.
The situation with Emme and Sal is looking volatile and how will Taviano deal with Nicoletta?
Christine Feehan is an author I would 1 click any book she would write and this book did not disappoint me in any way. I did not want to put the book down and fell in love with the story. The main characters are strong and very well written. I love how the story continues on from the series and keeps the previous characters involved without overshadowing this couple. I also like how small bits of information about everyone reminds you of who they are and what they do without going overboard. A great story and I’m going straight on the read book 4 now.
Giovanni was injured pretty bad in the last book (he got shot protecting his brother)
So we catch up with him doing physical therapy and being totally bored (he can’t ride the shadows until the metal pins have been taken out of his leg)
The nightclub that the Ferraro’s own is where we catch up with Giovanni and his relatives. He’s watching the women throw themselves at their table, he’s also listening to his cousin lament about the last woman he was with (apparently she tried to collect his sperm, so she could use the child as leverage for marriage or money) so Giovanni is slightly drunk and bitter, so he invents a game, where they score points for every woman they get to dance with (and other things!!)
Sasha is working her second job of the day, she’s tired, she works long hours in the day (she works in a bakery) and then here most evenings, she has a brother who needs full time care (he was badly injured in a car crash) and the new Center he is in isn’t cheap. She’s aware of a table in the V.I.P section, especially the man who can’t take his eyes off her.
But after hearing his game, she’s disgusted at him and the men he’s with.
An incident at the club brings Giovanni to Sasha’s rescue.
The sparks are there between them, but Sasha really is wary of a man like Giovanni, he would make her fall in love with him, and when he left (and a man like that always leaves) he’s take her heart.
This books brings Giovanni and Sasha together, the beginning is rocky, she doesn’t trust him, and he’s in shock that he’s found a woman that will complete him. Going slowly isn’t Giovanni’s usual thing, but in this case, if he wants the girl forever, he’s going to have to take it slow…..
Throw in a stalker and we have a really good read.
Sasha is a really feisty woman, she knows her own mind and can care for herself, she looked after her brother since the accident. So she’s not really looking for anyone.
We have a couple of other storylines in here. (We have a young woman who was rescued from an abusive family, we also have the Ferraro daughter caught up in a forbidden love)
We also get to see a little more of the brothers characters come through, all are troubled, and all need to be rescued.
Giovanni and Sasha’s story was amazing. I love all the Ferraros and can’t wait for more!
Love her books!
Very good and good story line of regular people and the family that watches over them.
Yet again Feehan draws you into the family of shadow riders. Her characters are engaging and the story is both steamy and romantic- I loved it
i love this series of books.. Can’t wait to get #3
didn’t finish find it slow going. I usually love Christine Feehan so I’m hoping when I get back to it, it will move a little faster
I have never read a book from Christine that I didn’t love. Her writing is magical and it takes you on a ride and you’re really sad when the book is over!!!! Try her out – you’ll love her!
This is book three in the series – Giovanni’s story
In book two Giovanni was injured and is still on the sidelines- since he can’t travel the shadows he gets to play decoy playboy as well as manage the club.
Enter Sasha – beautiful sexy and intelligent
There is something about her that soothes the soul of the most savage of beasts. When she is accosted at work, not only by Gio but by patrons as well, she finds her entire world goes from orderly and mundane to chaotic and dangerous in the course of a night
Someone has set their eyes on Sasha – she is theirs and they will do whatever it takes to remove any and all obstacles
Book three IMO is a bit slower but still full of action and a whole lot of mystery. This story seemed to give us a lot of backfill on the family and why certain things are and why possibly certain behaviors seem present in some of the characters – Like dear ol’ evil mom
There is a lot going on within this story- some scary revelations and tantalizing peeks at what is possibly coming next for the Ferraro family
and some serious “OMG” hints that have me eagerly awaiting the next book
If you are a Feehan fan this is the third in her series and quite good. Good strong plot and great characters.
Great Book. I couldn’t put it down! Read it in One Day!!!!
All of Christine Feehan’s book are so intriguing that you con not put them down. Her command of the English language is superb and she wraps you up in her characters. Love her.
Hands down a must read!
My 2nd favorite series next to GhostWalker series.
I love Christine Feehan, but did not like all the cussing. I don’t think all that was necessary and it took away from the book.
